Sirach 51

1 I give you thanks, O God of my father; I praise you, O God my savior! I will make known your name, refuge of my life;	1 Signore re, e loderò te, Iddio salvatore mio.
2 you have been my helper against my adversaries. You have saved me from death, and kept back my body from the pit, From the clutches of the nether world you have snatched my feet;	2 Confesserommi al nome tuo; però che tu sei fatto mio aiutatore e mio difenditore.
3 you have delivered me, in your great mercy From the scourge of a slanderous tongue, and from lips that went over to falsehood; From the snare of those who watched for my downfall, and from the power of those who sought my life; From many a danger you have saved me,	3 E liberasti da perdizione lo mio corpo, e dallo laccio della lingua iniqua, e dalli labbri operanti bugia; e fatto se' mio aiutatore nel conspetto di coloro che mi stavano incontro.
4 from flames that hemmed me in on every side; From the midst of unremitting fire,	4 E liberasti me secondo la moltitudine della misericordia del tuo nome da coloro che ruggivano, apparecchiati a mangiare me;
5 From the deep belly of the nether world; From deceiving lips and painters of lies,	5 e di mano di coloro che cercavano l'anima mia, e delle porte delle tribulazioni che circondarono me.
6 from the arrows of dishonest tongues. I was at the point of death, my soul was nearing the depths of the nether world;	6 E liberasti me della pressura della fiamma che mi circondoe; in mezzo del fuoco non sono imboglientato;
7 I turned every way, but there was no one to help me, I looked for one to sustain me, but could find no one.	7 della profondità del ventre dello inferno; e dalla lingua corrotta e dalla lingua bugiarda, e dal re iniquo e dalla lingua ingiusta.
8 But then I remembered the mercies of the LORD, his kindness through ages past; For he saves those who take refuge in him, and rescues them from every evil.	8 Loderae di qui alla morte l' anima mia Iddio Signore.
9 So I raised my voice from the very earth, from the gates of the nether world, my cry.	9 E la vita mia era approssimante di sotto in inferno.
10 I called out: O Lord, you are my father, you are my champion and my savior; Do not abandon me in time of trouble, in the midst of storms and dangers.	10 Accerchioromi da ogni parte, e non era chi m' aiutasse. Io ragguardava l'aiutorio delli uomini, e non era.
11 I will ever praise your name and be constant in my prayers to you. Thereupon the LORD heard my voice, he listened to my appeal;	11 Io mi sono ricordato della misericordia tua, Signore, e della operazione tua, le quali sono infino al principio.
12 He saved me from evil of every kind and preserved me in time of trouble. For this reason I thank him and I praise him; I bless the name of the LORD.	12 Però che tu liberi coloro che sostengono te (e sono pazienti nelle avversitadi), e liberili delle mani delle genti.
13 When I was young and innocent, I sought wisdom.	13 Esaltasti in su la terra l'abitazione mia, e pregai per la morte iscorrente.
14 She came to me in her beauty, and until the end I will cultivate her.	14 Invocai il Signore padre del mio Signore, ch' elli non m'abbandoni nel dì della mia tribulazione, e nel tempo delli superbi, sanza aiutorio.
15 As the blossoms yielded to ripening grapes, the heart's joy, My feet kept to the level path because from earliest youth I was familiar with her.	15 Loderoe spesso il nome tuo, e loderollo nella confessione; esaudita è l' orazione mia.
16 In the short time I paid heed, I met with great instruction.	16 Liberasti me da perdizione, e liberastimi nel tempo iniquo.
17 Since in this way I have profited, I will give my teacher grateful praise.	17 Perciò confesserò e loderò te, e benedicerò il nome del Signore.
18 I became resolutely devoted to her-- the good I persistently strove for.	18 Conciosiacosa ch' io ancora giovane, prima ch' io errassi, addimandai manifestamente la sapienza nella orazione mia.
19 I burned with desire for her, never turning back. I became preoccupied with her, never weary of extolling her. My hand opened her gate and I came to know her secrets.	19 Inanzi il tempio la domandava, e di qui nella fine la cercherò; è fiorita sì come l'uva che prima si matura (dinanzi tutte l' altre).
20 For her I purified my hands; in cleanness I attained to her. At first acquaintance with her, I gained understanding such that I will never forsake her.	20 Allegrato è il cuore mio in lei. Il piede mio andoe a diritto cammino; dalla mia giovinezza io la cercai.
21 My whole being was stirred as I learned about her; therefore I have made her my prize possession.	21 Inchinai un poco le orecchie mie, e riceve'la.
22 The LORD has granted me my lips as a reward, and my tongue will declare his praises.	22 Molta sapienza trovai in me medesimo, e molto avanzai in lei.
23 Come aside to me, you untutored, and take up lodging in the house of instruction;	23 Io daroe gloria a chi mi darae sapienza.
24 How long will you be deprived of wisdom's food, how long will you endure such bitter thirst?	24 Io sono consigliato di farla; amai il bene, e non sarò confuso.
25 I open my mouth and speak of her: gain, at no cost, wisdom for yourselves.	25 L'anima mia combattè in quella, e sono confermato in farla.
26 Submit your neck to her yoke, that your mind may accept her teaching. For she is close to those who seek her, and the one who is in earnest finds her.	26 Stesi le mani mie in alto, e nella sua sapienza giocondoe l' anima mia, e illuminoe le ignoranze mie.
27 See for yourselves! I have labored only a little, but have found much.	27 Andai a lei, e nella coscienza la trovai.
28 Acquire but a little instruction; you will win silver and gold through her.	28 Il cuor mio dal principio possedè colei; e per questo non sarò abbandonato.
29 Let your spirits rejoice in the mercy of God, and be not ashamed to give him praise.	29 Il ventre mio si turbò cercandola; però possederò possessione buona.
30 Work at your tasks in due season, and in his own time God will give you your reward.	30 Iddio mi diede la lingua mio merito; e loderollo con quella.
	31 Fatevi presso a me, non ammaestrati, e radunatevi nella casa della disciplina.
	32 Per che ancora vi ritardate? e che dite voi in queste cose? l'anime vostre fortemente hanno sete.
	33 Apersi la bocca mia, e parlai: acquistatevi sanza argento (sapienza),
	34 e sottomettete il collo vostro al giogo, e l'anima vostra riceverae disciplina; presso si è a trovarla.
	35 Vedete colli occhi vostri, però che poco m' affaticai, e trovai molto riposo.
	36 Ricevete l'ammaestramento in molto numero di ariento, e possedete molto oro in lei.
	37 Rallegrisi l'anima vostra nella sua misericordia, e non sarete confusi nella loda di quella.
	38 Lavorate inanzi il tempo, e daravvi il merito vostro nel tempo suo.
