Psalms 120

1 A song of ascents. The LORD answered me when I called in my distress:	1 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.
2 LORD, deliver me from lying lips, from treacherous tongues.	2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
3 What will the Lord inflict on you, O treacherous tongue, and what more besides?	3 What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
4 A warrior's sharpened arrows and fiery coals of brush wood!	4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
5 Alas, I was an alien in Meshech, I lived near the tents of Kedar!	5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
6 Too long did I live among those who hated peace.	6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.
7 When I spoke of peace, they were for war.	7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.
