1 Salmo di Asaph. Quanto è mai buono Iddio con Israele; con quelli, che son di cuor retto!	1 A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to those who are upright in heart.
2 Ma poco mancò, che i miei piedi non vacillassero, e che non uscisser di strada i miei passi.	2 But my feet were nearly moved; my steps had nearly slipped.
3 Perché io fui punto da zelo verso gli iniqui, in osservando la pace de' peccatori:	3 For I was zealous over the iniquitous, seeing the peacefulness of sinners.
4 Perché non pensano alla loro morte, e non son di durata le loro piaghe.	4 For they have no respect for their death, nor do they have support in their wounds.
5 Non hanno parte alle afflizioni degli uomini, e con gli uomini non son flagellati.	5 They are not with the hardships of men, nor will they be scourged with men.
6 Per questo la superbia li prese: son ricoperti della loro iniquità, ad empietà.	6 Therefore, arrogance has held on to them. They have been covered with their iniquity and impiety.
7 Dalla grassezza in certo modo scaturì la loro iniquità: si sono abbandonati agli affetti del loro cuore.	7 Their iniquity has proceeded, as if from fat. They have parted from the affection of the heart.
8 Pensano, e parlano malvagità: da luogo sublime ragionano di far del male.	8 They have thought and spoken wickedness. They have spoken iniquity in high places.
9 Han messa in cielo la loro bocca: e la loro lingua va scorrendo la terra.	9 They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has traversed the earth.
10 Per questo il popolo mio a tali cose si rivolge: e giorni trova di piena afflizione.	10 Therefore, my people will be converted here, and fullness of days will be found in them.
11 E hanno detto: Come mai Iddio sa questo? e l'Altissimo ne ha egli notizia?	11 And they said, “How would God know?” and, “Isn’t there knowledge in high places?”
12 Ecco che i peccatori medesimi, e i fortunati del secolo han raunate ricchezze.	12 Behold, these are sinners, and, abounding in this age, they have obtained riches.
13 E io dissi; Senza motivo adunque purificai il mio cuore, e lavai le mani mie cogli innocenti:	13 And I said: So then, it is without purpose that I have justified my heart and washed my hands among the innocent.
14 E fui tutto dì flagellato, e fui sotto la sferza di gran mattino.	14 And I have been scourged all day long, and I have received my chastisement in the mornings.
15 Se io pensassi di ragionare così: ecco che io condannerei la nazione de' tuoi figliuoli.	15 If I were to say that I would explain this: Behold, I would condemn this nation of your sons.
16 Mi studiava di intender questo: cosa laboriosa è questa, che mi si pone davanti:	16 I considered, so that I might know this. It is a hardship before me,
17 Per sino a tanto ch'io entri nel santuario di Dio, e intenda qual sia la fine di coloro.	17 until I may enter into the Sanctuary of God, and understand it to its last part.
18 Peraltro in ingannevole felicità gli hai posti: tu gli hai gettati a terra nell'atto, che si levavano in alto.	18 So, because of deceitfulness, truly, you have placed it before them. While they were being lifted up, you were casting them down.
19 Come mai son eglino ridotti in desolazione; son venuti meno a un tratta; sono andati in perdizione per la loro iniquità.	19 How have they been brought to desolation? They have suddenly failed. They have perished because of their iniquity.
20 Come il sogno di un che si sveglia, cosi tu nella tua città, o Signore, ridurrai nel nulla l'immagine di costoro.	20 As a dream is to those who awaken, O Lord, so will you reduce their image to nothing in your city.
21 Ma perché il mio cuore fu in tormento, ed ebber tortura gli affetti miei, ed io fui annichilato senza sapere il perché;	21 For my heart has been inflamed, and my temperament has been changed.
22 E fui qual giumento dinanzi a te, e mi tenni sempre con te;	22 And so, I have been reduced to nothing, and I did not know it.
23 Mi prendesti per la mia destra, e secondo la volontà tua mi conducesti, e con onore mi accogliesti.	23 I have become like a beast of burden to you, and I am always with you.
24 Imperocché qual cosa havvi mai per me nel cielo, e che volli io da te sopra la terra?	24 You have held my right hand. And in your will, you have conducted me, and with your glory, you have taken me up.
25 La carne mia, e il mio cuore vien meno, o Dio del mio cuore, e mia porzione, o Dio, nell'eternità.	25 For what is there for me in heaven? And what do I wish for on earth before you?
26 Imperocché ecco che coloro, che da te si allontanano, periranno: tu manderai in perdizione tutti coloro, che a te rompon la fede.	26 My body has failed, and my heart: O God of my heart, and God my portion, into eternity.
27 Ma per me buona cosa ell'è lo star unito con Dio: il porre in Dio Signore la mia speranza:	27 For behold, those who put themselves far from you will perish. You have perished all those who fornicate away from you.
28 Affinchè tutte le tue laudi io annunzi alle porte della figliuola di Sion.	28 But it is good for me to adhere to God, to put my hope in the Lord God, so that I may announce all your prophecies, at the gates of the daughter of Zion.
