His mother's name was Hamital daughter of Jeremiah, of Libnah.
-2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, just as Jehoiakim had done.
-3 That this should happen to Jerusalem and Judah was due to Yahweh's anger, resulting in his castingthem away from his presence. Zedekiah rebel ed against the king of Babylon.
και εγενετο εν τω ετει τω ενατω της βασιλειας αυτου εν μηνι τω δεκατω δεκατη του μηνος ηλθεν ναβουχοδονοσορ βασιλευς βαβυλωνος και πασα η δυναμις αυτου επι ιερουσαλημ και περιεχαρακωσαν αυτην και περιωκοδομησαν αυτην τετραπεδοις λιθοις κυκλω4 In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar kingof Babylon advanced on Jerusalem with his entire army; he pitched camp in front of the city and threw upearthworks round it.
και ηλθεν η πολις εις συνοχην εως ενδεκατου ετους τω βασιλει σεδεκια5 The city lay under siege till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
εν τη ενατη του μηνος και εστερεωθη ο λιμος εν τη πολει και ουκ ησαν αρτοι τω λαω της γης6 In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, when famine was raging in the city and there was nofood for the populace,
και διεκοπη η πολις και παντες οι ανδρες οι πολεμισται εξηλθον νυκτος κατα την οδον της πυλης ανα μεσον του τειχους και του προτειχισματος ο ην κατα τον κηπον του βασιλεως και οι χαλδαιοι επι της πολεως κυκλω και επορευθησαν οδον την εις αραβα7 a breach was made in the city wal . The king and al the fighting men then fled, leaving the city undercover of dark, by way of the gate between the two wal s, which is near the king's garden -- the Chaldaeans hadsurrounded the city -- and made his way towards the Arabah.
και κατεδιωξεν η δυναμις των χαλδαιων οπισω του βασιλεως και κατελαβον αυτον εν τω περαν ιεριχω και παντες οι παιδες αυτου διεσπαρησαν απ' αυτου8 The Chaldaean troops pursued the king and caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, where allhis troops deserted.
και συνελαβον τον βασιλεα και ηγαγον αυτον προς τον βασιλεα βαβυλωνος εις δεβλαθα και ελαλησεν αυτω μετα κρισεως9 But the Chaldaeans captured the king and took him to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory ofHamath, where he passed sentence on him.
και εσφαξεν βασιλευς βαβυλωνος τους υιους σεδεκιου κατ' οφθαλμους αυτου και παντας τους αρχοντας ιουδα εσφαξεν εν δεβλαθα10 He had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes; he also had all the chief men of Judah put todeath at Riblah.
και τους οφθαλμους σεδεκιου εξετυφλωσεν και εδησεν αυτον εν πεδαις και ηγαγεν αυτον βασιλευς βαβυλωνος εις βαβυλωνα και εδωκεν αυτον εις οικιαν μυλωνος εως ημερας ης απεθανεν11 He then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading him with chains, the king of Babylon carried him off toBabylon where he kept him prisoner until his dying day.
και εν μηνι πεμπτω δεκατη του μηνος ηλθεν ναβουζαρδαν ο αρχιμαγειρος ο εστηκως κατα προσωπον του βασιλεως βαβυλωνος εις ιερουσαλημ12 In the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month -- it was in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon -- Nebuzaradan commander of the guard, a member of the king of Babylon's staff, enteredJerusalem.

και τους στυλους τους χαλκους τους εν οικω κυριου και τας βασεις και την θαλασσαν την χαλκην την εν οικω κυριου συνετριψαν οι χαλδαιοι και ελαβον τον χαλκον αυτων και απηνεγκαν εις βαβυλωνα17 The Chaldaeans broke up the bronze pil ars from the Temple of Yahweh, the wheeled stands and thebronze Sea, which were in the Temple of Yahweh, and took al the bronze away to Babylon.
και την στεφανην και τας φιαλας και τας κρεαγρας και παντα τα σκευη τα χαλκα εν οις ελειτουργουν εν αυτοις18 They also took the ash containers, the scoops, the knives, the sprinkling bowls, the incense bowls, and all the bronze furnishings used in worship.
και τα σαφφωθ και τα μασμαρωθ και τους υποχυτηρας και τας λυχνιας και τας θυισκας και τους κυαθους α ην χρυσα χρυσα και α ην αργυρα αργυρα ελαβεν ο αρχιμαγειρος19 The commander of the guard also took the bowls, the censers, the sprinkling bowls, the ashcontainers, the lamp-stands, the goblets and the saucers: everything that was made of gold and everythingmade of silver.
και οι στυλοι δυο και η θαλασσα μια και οι μοσχοι δωδεκα χαλκοι υποκατω της θαλασσης α εποιησεν ο βασιλευς σαλωμων εις οικον κυριου ουκ ην σταθμος του χαλκου αυτων20 As regards the two pil ars, the one Sea, the twelve bronze oxen supporting the Sea, and the wheeledstands, which King Solomon had made for the Temple of Yahweh, there was no reckoning the weight of bronzein all these objects.
και οι στυλοι τριακοντα πεντε πηχων υψος του στυλου του ενος και σπαρτιον δωδεκα πηχεων περιεκυκλου αυτον και το παχος αυτου δακτυλων τεσσαρων κυκλω21 As regards the pil ars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, its circumference was twelvecubits, it was four fingers thick, and hol ow inside;
και γεισος επ' αυτοις χαλκουν και πεντε πηχεων το μηκος υπεροχη του γεισους του ενος και δικτυον και ροαι επι του γεισους κυκλω τα παντα χαλκα και κατα ταυτα τω στυλω τω δευτερω οκτω ροαι τω πηχει τοις δωδεκα πηχεσιν22 on it stood a capital of bronze, the height of the capital being five cubits; round the capital were filigreeand pomegranates, al in bronze. So also for the second pil ar.
και ησαν αι ροαι ενενηκοντα εξ το εν μερος και ησαν αι πασαι ροαι επι του δικτυου κυκλω εκατον23 There were ninety-six pomegranates round the sides, making a hundred pomegranates round thefiligree in al .
και ελαβεν ο αρχιμαγειρος τον ιερεα τον πρωτον και τον ιερεα τον δευτερευοντα και τους τρεις τους φυλαττοντας την οδον24 The commander of the guard took prisoner Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest next in rank, and the three guardians of the threshold.
και ευνουχον ενα ος ην επιστατης των ανδρων των πολεμιστων και επτα ανδρας ονομαστους τους εν προσωπω του βασιλεως τους ευρεθεντας εν τη πολει και τον γραμματεα των δυναμεων τον γραμματευοντα τω λαω της γης και εξηκοντα ανθρωπους εκ του λαου της γης τους ευρεθεντας εν μεσω της πολεως25 In the city he took prisoner an official who was in command of the fighting men, seven of the king'spersonal friends who were discovered in the city, the secretary to the army commander responsible for militaryconscription, and sixty men of distinction discovered in the city.

και ηλλαξεν την στολην της φυλακης αυτου και ησθιεν αρτον δια παντος κατα προσωπον αυτου πασας τας ημερας ας εζησεν33 So Jehoiachin laid aside his prisoner's garb and for the rest of his life always ate at the king's table.
και η συνταξις αυτω εδιδοτο δια παντος παρα του βασιλεως βαβυλωνος εξ ημερας εις ημεραν εως ημερας ης απεθανεν .34 And his upkeep was permanently ensured by the king, day after day, for the rest of his life until theday he died.
