KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
Judge not, that ye be not judged.1 'Do not judge, and you will not be judged;
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.2 because the judgements you give are the judgements you wil get, and the standard you use wil be thestandard used for you.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?3 Why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the great log in your own?
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?4 And how dare you say to your brother, "Let me take that splinter out of your eye," when, look, there is agreat log in your own?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.5 Hypocrite! Take the log out of your own eye first, and then you wil see clearly enough to take thesplinter out of your brother's eye.
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.6 'Do not give dogs what is holy; and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs, or they may trample themand then turn on you and tear you to pieces.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:7 'Ask, and it wil be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.8 Everyone who asks receives; everyone who searches finds; everyone who knocks will have the dooropened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?9 Is there anyone among you who would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?10 Or would hand him a snake when he asked for a fish?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?11 If you, then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more wil yourFather in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.12 'So always treat others as you would like them to treat you; that is the Law and the Prophets.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:13 'Enter by the narrow gate, since the road that leads to destruction is wide and spacious, and manytake it;
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.14 but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.15 'Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?16 You wil be able to tel them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.17 In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.18 A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.19 Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.20 I repeat, you wil be able to tel them by their fruits.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.21 'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who wil enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the personwho does the wil of my Father in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?22 When the day comes many wil say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, drive outdemons in your name, work many miracles in your name?"
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.23 Then I shal tel them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, al evil doers!
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:24 'Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock.
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.25 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fal :it was founded on rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:26 But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid manwho built his house on sand.
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.27 Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!'
And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:28 Jesus had now finished what he wanted to say, and his teaching made a deep impression on thepeople
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.29 because he taught them with authority, unlike their own scribes.
