Proverbs 2

1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;	1 Mon fils, si tu reçois mes paroles, et si tu gardes mes préceptes cachés sur toi,
2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;	2 de sorte que ton oreille soit attentive à la sagesse, incline ton coeur pour connaître la prudence.
3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;	3 Car si tu invoques la sagesse, et que tu inclines ton coeur à la prudence;
4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;	4 si tu la recherches comme l'argent, et que tu creuses pour la trouver, comme on fait pour les trésors;
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.	5 alors tu comprendras la crainte du Seigneur, et tu trouveras la science de Dieu,
6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.	6 car c'est le Seigneur qui donne la sagesse, et c'est de Sa bouche que sortent la prudence et la science.
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.	7 Il réservera le salut pour les hommes droits, et Il protégera ceux qui marchent dans la simplicité,
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.	8 préservant les sentiers de la justice, et gardant les voies des saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.	9 Alors tu comprendras la justice, et le jugement, et l'équité, et tout bon sentier.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;	10 Si la sagesse entre dans ton coeur, et que la science plaise à ton âme,
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:	11 le conseil te gardera, et la prudence te conservera,
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;	12 pour que tu sois délivré de la voie mauvaise, et de l'homme qui tient des discours pervers;
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;	13 de ceux qui abandonnent le droit chemin, et qui marchent par des voies ténébreuses;
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;	14 qui se réjouissent lorsqu'ils ont fait le mal, et qui mettent leurs délices dans les choses les plus criminelles;
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:	15 leurs voies sont perverses, et leurs démarches infâmes.
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;	16 Pour que tu sois délivré de la femme étrangère, de l'étrangère qui rend ses paroles doucereuses,
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.	17 et qui abandonne le guide de sa jeunesse,
18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.	18 et qui oublie l'alliance de son Dieu. Sa maison penche vers la mort, et ses sentiers mènent aux enfers.
19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.	19 Aucun de ceux qui entrent auprès d'elle ne reviendra, et ne ressaisira les sentiers de la vie.
20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.	20 Pour que tu marches dans la bonne voie, et que tu gardes les sentiers des justes.
21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.	21 Car ceux qui sont droits habiteront sur la terre, et les simples y demeureront;
22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.	22 mais les impies seront exterminés de dessus la terre, et ceux qui commettent l'injustice en seront arrachés.
