1 Kiálts csak! Van-e, aki felel neked? Fordulj valakihez a szentek közül!	1 Make your appeal then. Wil you find an answer? To which of the holy ones wil you turn?
2 Valóban öli a balgát a harag, s az együgyűt bosszúság gyilkolja.	2 Resentment kil s the senseless, and anger brings death to the fool.
3 Láttam balgát gyökeret verni, de jó sorát tüstént megátkoztam.	3 I have seen the senseless taking root, when a curse fel suddenly on his house.
4 Távol esnek fiai a jóléttől, eltapossák őket a kapuban, és nem lesz, aki mentse őket.	4 His children are deprived of prop and stay, ruined at the gate, and no one to defend them;
5 Feleszi termését az éhező, s elragadja fegyverrel kezében; szomjasok szürcsölik vagyonát.	5 their harvest goes to feed the hungry, God snatches it from their mouths, and covetous people thirst fortheir possessions.
6 Semmi sem esik meg a földön ok nélkül, s a nyomorúság nem a földből fakad;	6 No, misery does not grow out of the soil, nor sorrow spring from the ground.
7 az ember úgy születik nyomorúságra, mint a madár repülésre.	7 It is people who breed trouble for themselves as surely as eagles fly to the height.
8 Én pedig az Úrhoz fordulnék kéréssel, Isten elé terjeszteném ügyemet,	8 If I were you, I should appeal to God and lay my case before him.
9 aki nagyokat visz végbe, s amiket nem lehet kifürkészni, csodákat, amiknek nincsen száma;	9 His works are great, past al reckoning, marvels beyond al counting.
10 aki esőt bocsát a föld színére, és vízzel öntözi az egész határt,	10 He sends down rain to the earth, pours down water on the fields.
11 hogy az alázatosakat felemelje, s a szomorúakat jólétbe helyezze;	11 If his wil is to raise up the downcast, or exalt the afflicted to the heights of prosperity,
12 aki széttépi a ravaszok fondorkodását, hogy kezük ne vihesse véghez, amit kezdtek;	12 he frustrates the plans of the artful so that they cannot succeed in their intrigues.
13 aki megfogja a bölcseket saját csalárdságukkal, és meghiúsítja az álnokok terveit:	13 He traps the crafty in the snare of their own trickery, throws the plans of the cunning into disarray.
14 fényes nappal sötétbe botlanak, délben úgy tapogatnak, mint éjjel;	14 In daylight they come up against darkness, and grope their way as if noon were night.
15 aki megmenti a szegényt szájuk pallosától, s a nyomorban élőt az erősnek karjától;	15 He rescues the bankrupt from their jaws, and the needy from the grasp of the mighty.
16 így reménye nyílik a szegénynek, a gazság pedig befogja száját.	16 Hope springs afresh for the weak, and wickedness must shut its mouth.
17 Boldog az az ember, akit Isten megfenyít! Meg ne vesd tehát az Úr feddését!	17 Blessed are those whom God corrects! Do not then scorn the lesson of Shaddai!
18 Ő sebet ejt ugyan, de be is kötözi, megver – de keze gyógyít is.	18 For he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.
19 Kiragad téged hat szorongatásból, és nem ér baj a hetedikben.	19 Six times he wil deliver you from sorrow, and the seventh time, evil wil not touch you.
20 Az éhínségben megment a haláltól, s a hadban a kardnak erejétől.	20 In time of famine, he wil save you from death, and in wartime from the stroke of the sword.
21 Biztonságban vagy a nyelvnek ostorától, és nem kell félned, ha pusztulás közeledik;	21 You will be safe from the lash of the tongue, unafraid at the approach of the despoiler.
22 nevethetsz pusztuláson, éhségen, és nem kell félned a föld vadjaitól,	22 You will laugh at drought and frost, and have no fear of the beasts of the earth.
23 mert frigyben vagy a szántó köveivel, s a mező vadja veled békességben lesz.	23 You will have a pact with the stones of the field, and live in amity with wild beasts.
24 Épségben tudhatod sátradat, és nem találsz hiányt, ha megnézed hajlékodat.	24 You will know that your tent is secure, and your sheepfold unharmed when you inspect it.
25 Majd tapasztalod, hogy magzatod sokasodik, és sarjad annyi lesz, mint a fű a földön.	25 You will see your descendants multiply, your offspring grow like the grass in the fields.
26 Bővelkedve szállsz a sírba, úgy, mint a learatott gabonát idejében betakarítják.	26 At a ripe age you wil go to the grave, like a wheatsheaf stacked in due season.
27 Ezt íme, így kutattuk ki, de így is van; halljad tehát és jegyezd meg magadnak!«	27 Al this we have observed and it is so! Heed it, you wil be the wiser for it!
