1 Après avoir, à maintes reprises et sous maintes formes, parlé jadis aux Pères par les prophètes,Dieu,	1 In many places and in many ways, in past times, God spoke to the fathers through the Prophets;
2 en ces jours qui sont les derniers, nous a parlé par le Fils, qu'il a établi héritier de toutes choses, parqui aussi il a fait les siècles.	2 lastly, in these days, he has spoken to us through the Son, whom he appointed as the heir of all things, and through whom he made the world.
3 Resplendissement de sa gloire, effigie de sa substance, ce Fils qui soutient l'univers par sa parolepuissante, ayant accompli la purification des péchés, s'est assis à la droite de la Majesté dans les hauteurs,	3 And since the Son is the brightness of his glory, and the figure of his substance, and is carrying all things by the Word of his virtue, thereby accomplishing a purging of sins, he sits at the right hand of Majesty on high.
4 devenu d'autant supérieur aux anges que le nom qu'il a reçu en héritage est incomparable au leur.	4 And having been made so much better than the Angels, he has inherited a name so much greater than theirs.
5 Auquel des anges, en effet, Dieu a-t-il jamais dit: Tu es mon Fils, moi, aujourd'hui, je t'aiengendré? Et encore: Je serai pour lui un père, et lui sera pour moi un fils.	5 For to which of the Angels has he ever said: “You are my Son; today have I begotten you?” Or again: “I will be a Father to him, and he shall be a Son to me?”
6 Et de nouveau, lorsqu'il introduit le Premier-né dans le monde, il dit: Que tous les anges de Dieul'adorent.	6 And again, when he brings the only-begotten Son into the world, he says: “And let all the Angels of God adore him.”
7 Tandis qu'il s'exprime ainsi en s'adressant aux anges: Il fait de ses anges des vents, de ses serviteurune flamme ardente,	7 And about the Angels, certainly, he says: “He makes his Angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.”
8 il dit à son Fils: Ton trône, ô Dieu, subsiste dans les siècles des siècles, et: le sceptre de droiture estle sceptre de sa royauté.	8 But about the Son: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of equity.
9 Tu as aimé la justice et tu as haï l'impiété. C'est pourquoi, Dieu, ton Dieu t'a oint d'une huiled'allégresse de préférence à tes compagnons.	9 You have loved justice, and you have hated iniquity. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of exultation, above your companions.”
10 Et encore: C'est toi, Seigneur, qui aux origines fondas la terre, et les cieux sont l'ouvrage de tesmains.	10 And: “In the beginning, O Lord, you founded the earth. And the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 Eux périront, mais toi tu demeures, et tous ils vieilliront comme un vêtement.	11 These shall pass away, but you will remain. And all will grow old like a garment.
12 Comme un manteau tu les rouleras, comme un vêtement, et ils seront changés. Mais toi, tu es lemême et tes années ne s'achèveront point.	12 And you will change them like a cloak, and they shall be changed. Yet you are ever the same, and your years will not diminish.”
13 Et auquel des anges a-t-il jamais dit: Assieds-toi à ma droite jusqu'à ce que je place tes ennemiscomme un escabeau sous tes pieds?	13 But to which of the Angels has he ever said: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?”
14 Est-ce que tous ne sont pas des esprits chargés d'un ministère, envoyés en service pour ceux quidoivent hériter du salut?	14 Are they not all spirits of ministration, sent to minister for the sake of those who shall receive the inheritance of salvation?
