Deuteronomio 32

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 CIELI, porgete gli orecchi, ed io parlerò; Ed ascolti la terra le parole della mia bocca.	1 Listen, heavens, while I speak; hear, earth, the words that I shal say!
2 La mia dottrina stillerà come pioggia, E il mio ragionamento colerà come rugiada; Come pioggia minuta in su l’erbetta, E come pioggia a grosse gocciole in su l’erbe;	2 May my teaching fal like the rain, may my word drop down like the dew, like showers on the grass,like light rain on the turf!
3 Perciocchè io celebrerò il Nome del Signore. Magnificate l’Iddio nostro.	3 For I shal proclaim the name of Yahweh. Oh, tell the greatness of our God!
4 L’opera della Rocca è compiuta; Conciossiachè tutte le sue vie sieno dirittura; Iddio è verità, senza alcuna iniquità; Egli è giusto e diritto.	4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect, for al his ways are equitable. A trustworthy God who does nowrong, he is the Honest, the Upright One!
5 Esso si è corrotto inverso lui; Il lor vizio non è di figliuoli suoi; Egli è una generazione perversa e storta.	5 They have acted perversely, those he fathered without blemish, a deceitful and underhand brood.
6 Popolo stolto, e non savio, è questa la retribuzione che voi fate al Signore? Non è egli tuo padre, che t’ha acquistato? Non è egli quel che ti ha fatto, e ti ha stabilito?	6 Is this the return you make to Yahweh? O people brainless and unwise! Is this not your father, whogave you being, who made you, by whom you subsist?
7 Ricordati de’ giorni antichi; Considera gli anni dell’età addietro; Domandane tuo padre, ed egli te lo dichiarerà; I tuoi vecchi, ed essi te lo diranno.	7 Think back on the days of old, think over the years, down the ages. Question your father, let himexplain to you, your elders, and let them tel you!
8 Quando l’Altissimo spartiva l’eredità alle nazioni, Quando egli divideva i figliuoli di Adamo, Egli costituì i confini de’ popoli, Secondo il numero de’ figliuoli d’Israele.	8 When the Most High gave the nations each their heritage, when he partitioned out the human race, heassigned the boundaries of nations according to the number of the children of God,
9 Perciocchè la parte del Signore è il suo popolo; Giacobbe è la sorte della sua eredità.	9 but Yahweh's portion was his people, Jacob was to be the measure of his inheritance.
10 Egli lo trovò in una terra di deserto, E in un luogo desolato d’urli di solitudine; Egli l’ha menato attorno, egli l’ha ammaestrato, Egli l’ha conservato come la pupilla dell’occhio suo.	10 In the desert he finds him, in the howling expanses of the wastelands. He protects him, rears him,guards him as the pupil of his eye.
11 Come l’aquila fa muovere la sua nidata, Si dimena sopra i suoi figli, Spande le sue ale, li prende, E li porta sopra le sue penne;	11 Like an eagle watching its nest, hovering over its young, he spreads out his wings to hold him, hesupports him on his pinions.
12 Il Signore solo l’ha condotto, E con lui non è stato alcun dio strano.	12 Yahweh alone is his guide; no alien god for him!
13 Egli l’ha fatto passare a cavallo sopra gli alti luoghi della terra, Onde egli ha mangiati i frutti de’ campi; E gli ha ancora dato a suggere il miele dalla rupe, E l’olio dal macigno;	13 He gives him the heights of the land to ride, he feeds him on the yield of the mountains, he gives himhoney from the rock to taste, and oil from the flinty crag;
14 Il burro delle vacche, e il latte delle pecore, Col grasso degli agnelli, e de’ montoni di Basan, e de’ becchi; Insieme con la grascia del fior di frumento; E tu hai bevuto il vin puro, il sugo dell’uve	14 curds from the cattle, milk from the flock, and the richness of the pasture, rams of Bashan's breed,and goats, the richness of the wheat kernel; the fermented blood of the grape for drink.
15 Ma Iesurun si è ingrassato, e ha ricalcitrato; Tu ti sei ingrassato, ingrossato, e coperto di grasso; Ed egli ha abbandonato Iddio che l’ha fatto, E ha villaneggiata la Rocca della sua salute.	15 Jacob has eaten to his heart's content, Jeshurun, grown fat, has now lashed out. (You have grownfat, gross, bloated.) He has disowned the God who made him, and dishonoured the Rock, his salvation,
16 Essi l’hanno mosso a gelosia con iddii strani, E l’hanno irritato con abbominazioni.	16 whose jealousy they aroused with foreigners -- with things detestable they angered him.
17 Hanno sacrificato a’ demonii, e non a Dio; A dii, i quali essi non aveano conosciuti, Dii nuovi, venuti di prossimo, De’ quali i vostri padri non aveano avuta paura.	17 They sacrificed to demons who are not God, to gods hitherto unknown to them, to newcomers ofyesterday whom their ancestors had never respected.
18 Tu hai dimenticata la Rocca che t’ha generato, E hai posto in obblio Iddio che t’ha formato	18 (You forget the Rock who fathered you, the God who made you, you no longer remember.)
19 E il Signore l’ha veduto, ed è stato sdegnato, Per lo dispetto fattogli da suoi figliuoli e dalle sue figliuole.	19 Yahweh saw it and, in anger, he spurned his sons and daughters.
20 E ha detto: Io nasconderò da loro la mia faccia, Io vedrò qual sarà il lor fine; Conciossiachè sieno una generazione perversissima, Figliuoli ne’ quali non v’è alcuna lealtà.	20 'I shal hide my face from them,' he said, 'and see what wil become of them. For they are a deceitfulbrood, children with no loyalty in them.
21 Essi m’hanno mosso a gelosia per cose che non sono Dio, E m’hanno provocato a sdegno per le lor vanità; Io altresì li muoverò a gelosia per un popolo che non è popolo, E li provocherò a sdegno per una gente stolta.	21 They have roused me to jealousy with a non-god, they have exasperated me with their idols. In myturn I shal rouse them to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate them with a stupid nation.
22 Perciocchè un fuoco s’è acceso nella mia ira. Ed ha arso fino al luogo più basso sotterra, Ed ha consumata la terra e il suo frutto, Ed ha divampati i fondamenti delle montagne.	22 Yes, a fire has blazed from my anger, it will burn right down to the depths of Sheol; it will devour theearth and al its produce, it wil set fire to the footings of the mountains.
23 Io accumulerò sopra loro mali sopra mali, E impiegherò contro a loro tutte le mie saette.	23 I shal hurl disasters on them, on them I shal use up al my arrows.
24 Saranno arsi di fame, e divorati da carboncelli, E da pestilenza amarissima; E io manderò contro a loro i denti delle fiere, Insieme col veleno de’ rettili della polvere.	24 They wil be weakened by hunger, eaten away by plague and the bitter scourge. Against them I shalsend the fang of wild animals and the poison of snakes that glide in the dust.
25 La spada dipopolerà di fuori E dentro delle camerette lo spavento; Giovani e fanciulle, Bambini di poppa e uomini canuti	25 Outside, the sword bereaves, while inside terror wil reign. Young man and girl alike will perish,suckling and greybeard both together.
26 Io avrei detto: Io li dispergerò per tutti i canti del mondo, e farò venir meno la memoria di loro fra gli uomini;	26 I should crush them to dust, I said, I should wipe out al memory of them,
27 Se non ch’io temeva del dispetto del nemico; Che talora i loro avversari non insuperbissero; Che talora non dicessero: La nostra mano è stata alta, E il Signore non ha operato tutto questo.	27 did I not fear the boasting of the enemy.' But do not let their foes be mistaken! Do not let them say,'We have got the upper hand and Yahweh plays no part in this.'
28 Conciossiachè essi sieno una gente perduta di consigli, E non vi sia alcun senno in loro.	28 What a short-sighted nation this is, how thoroughly imperceptive!
29 Oh fossero pur savi, e intendessero queste cose, E considerassero il lor fine!	29 Were they wise, they would succeed, they would be able to read their destiny.
30 Come ne perseguirebbe uno mille, E ne metterebbero due in fuga diecimila, Se non fosse che la lor Rocca li ha venduti, E il Signore li ha messi nelle mani de’ lor nemici?	30 How else could one man rout a thousand, how could two put ten thousand to flight, were it not thattheir Rock has sold them, that Yahweh has delivered them up?
31 Conciossiachè la lor rocca non sia come la nostra Rocca, E i nostri nemici ne sieno giudici.	31 But their rock is not like our Rock; our enemies cannot pray for us!
32 Perciocchè la lor vigna è stata tolta dalla vigna di Sodoma, E da’ campi di Gomorra; Le loro uve sono uve di tosco, Hanno i grappi amari.	32 For their vine springs from the stock of Sodom and from the groves of Gomorrah: their grapes arepoisonous grapes, their clusters are bitter;
33 Il lor vino è veleno di dragoni, Crudel veleno d’aspidi.	33 their wine is snakes' poison, the vipers' cruel venom.
34 Questo non è egli riposto appo me, E suggellato ne’ miei tesori?	34 But he, is he not safe with me, sealed inside my treasury?
35 A me appartiene di far la vendetta, e la retribuzione, Nel giorno che il piè loro vacillerà; Perciocchè il giorno della lor calamità è vicino, E le cose che son loro apparecchiate si affrettano.	35 Vengeance is mine, I wil pay them back, for the time when they make a false step. For the day oftheir ruin is close, doom is rushing towards them, for he wil see to it that their power fails. that neither serf norfree man remains.
36 Quando il Signore avrà fatto giudicio del suo popolo, Egli si pentirà per l’amor de’ suoi servitori, Quando egli vedrà che ogni forza sarà venuta meno, E che non vi sarà nè serrato, nè lasciato.	36 (For Yahweh wil see his people righted, he wil take pity on his servants.)
37 E dirà: Ove sono i lor dii? La Rocca, nella quale si confidavano?	37 'Where are their gods then?' he wil ask, 'the rock where they sought refuge,
38 Il grasso de’ sacrificii de’ quali essi mangiavano, E il vino delle cui offerte da spandere essi beveano; Levinsi eglino, e soccorranvi, E sienvi per ricetto	38 who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations?' Let these arise and help you,let these be the shelter above you!
39 Vedete ora, che io, io son desso, E che non v’è alcun Dio meco; Io fo morire, e rimetto in vita; Io ferisco, e guarisco; E non v’è niuno che possa liberar dalla mia mano.	39 See now that I, I am he, and beside me there is no other god. It is I who deal death and life; when Ihave struck, it is I who heal (no one can rescue anyone from me).
40 Perciocchè io levo la mano al cielo, E dico: Come io vivo in eterno;	40 Yes, I raise my hand to heaven, and I say, 'As surely as I live for ever,
41 Se io aguzzo la mia folgorante spada, E prendo in mano il giudicio, Io farò la vendetta sopra i miei nemici, E farò la retribuzione a quelli che m’odiano.	41 When I have whetted my flashing sword, I shal enforce justice, I shal return vengeance to my foes, Ishall take vengeance on my foes.
42 Io inebbrierò le mie saette di sangue, E la mia spada divorerà la carne; Io le inebbrierò del sangue degli uccisi e de’ prigioni, Cominciando dal capo; con vendette da nemico.	42 I shal make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword wil feed on flesh: the blood of the woundedand the prisoners, the dishevelled heads of the enemy!'
43 Sclamate d’allegrezza, o nazioni, o suo popolo; Perciocchè egli farà la vendetta del sangue de’ suoi servitori, E farà retribuzion di vendetta a’ suoi avversari, E sarà propizio alla sua terra, al suo popolo	43 Heavens, rejoice with him, let al the children of God pay him homage! Nations, rejoice with hispeople, let God's envoys tel of his power! For he wil avenge the blood of his servants, he wil return vengeanceto my foes, he will repay those who hate him and purify his people's country.
44 Mosè adunque, con Hosea, figliuolo di Nun, venne, e pronunziò tutte le parole di questo Cantico, agli orecchi del popolo.	44 Moses came with Joshua son of Nun and recited all the words of this song in the people's hearing.
45 E, dopo che Mosè ebbe finito di pronunziar tutte queste parole a tutto Israele, egli disse loro:	45 When Moses had finished reciting these words to al Israel,
46 Mettete il cuor vostro a tutte le parole, le quali oggi io vi protesto, acciocchè insegniate a’ vostri figliuoli di prender guardia di mettere in opera tutte le parole di questa Legge.	46 he said to them, 'Take al these words to heart; I intend them today to be evidence against you. Youmust order your children to keep and observe al the words of this Law.
47 Conciossiachè non sia una parola vana, della quale non abbiate a curarvi; anzi è la vita vostra; e per essa prolungherete i vostri giorni sopra la terra, alla quale, passato il Giordano, andate per possederla.	47 You must not think of this as empty words, for the Law is your life, and by its means you will live longin the country which you are crossing the Jordan to possess.'
48 E in quell’istesso giorno il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:	48 Yahweh spoke to Moses that same day and said to him,
49 Sali sopra questo monte di Abarim, al monte di Nebo, che è nel paese di Moab, dirincontro a Gerico, e riguarda il paese di Canaan, il quale io do a possedere a’ figliuoli d’Israele;	49 'Climb this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, in the country of Moab, opposite Jericho, and viewthe Canaan which I am giving to the Israelites as their domain.
50 e muori sopra il monte al qual tu sali, e sii raccolto a’ tuoi popoli; come Aaronne, tuo fratello, è morto sul monte di Hor, ed è stato raccolto a’ suoi popoli.	50 Die on the mountain you have climbed, and be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron diedon Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.
51 Perciocchè voi commetteste misfatto contro a me, nel mezzo de’ figliuoli d’Israele, alle acque della contesa di Cades, nel deserto di Sin; perchè voi non mi santificaste nel mezzo de’ figliuoli d’Israele.	51 Because, with the other Israelites, you broke faith with me at the Waters of Meribah-Kadesh in thedesert of Zin, because you did not make my holiness clear to the Israelites;
52 Conciossiachè tu vedrai solamente davanti a te il paese; ma tu non entrerai nel paese ch’io do a’ figliuoli d’Israele	52 you may only see the country from outside; you cannot enter it -- the country which I am giving to theIsraelites.'
