| 1 GUAI alla ribella, e contaminata; alla città d’oppressione! | 1 Woe to her that is rebellious and defiled, the oppressing city! |
| 2 Ella non ha ascoltata la voce, non ha ricevuta correzione, non si è confidata nel Signore, non si è accostata al suo Dio. | 2 She listens to no voice, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the LORD, she does not draw near to her God. |
| 3 I suoi principi son dentro di lei leoni ruggenti; i suoi rettori son lupi della sera, che non han la mattina rotto alcun osso; | 3 Her officials within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves that leave nothing till the morning. |
| 4 i suoi profeti son temerari, uomini dislealissimi; i suoi sacerdoti han contaminate le cose sante, han fatta violenza alla Legge. | 4 Her prophets are wanton, faithless men; her priests profane what is sacred, they do violence to the law. |
| 5 Il Signore giusto è nel mezzo di lei; egli non fa alcuna iniquità; ogni mattina egli reca fuori alla luce il suo giudicio, egli non manca; ma il perverso non sa vergognarsi. | 5 The LORD within her is righteous, he does no wrong; every morning he shows forth his justice, each dawn he does not fail; but the unjust knows no shame. |
| 6 Io ho sterminate le genti, le lor fortezze sono state distrutte; io ho deserte le loro strade, talchè non vi passa più alcuno; le lor città sono state desolate, talchè non vi è più alcuno, non vi è più abitatore. | 6 "I have cut off nations; their battlements are in ruins; I have laid waste their streets so that none walks in them; their cities have been made desolate, without a man, without an inhabitant. |
| 7 Io diceva: Tu mi temerai pure, tu riceverai pur correzione; e la sua stanza non sarà distrutta, con tutta la punizione che io ho fatta di lei; ma essi si son levati da mattina, hanno corrotte tutte le loro opere | 7 I said, 'Surely she will fear me, she will accept correction; she will not lose sight of all that I have enjoined upon her.' But all the more they were eager to make all their deeds corrupt." |
| 8 Tuttavolta, aspettatemi, dice il Signore, nel giorno che io mi leverò per ispogliare; conciossiachè il mio decreto sia di adunar le genti, di raccogliere i regni, per ispander sopra loro la mia indegnazione, tutto l’ardore della mia ira; perciocchè tutta la terra sarà consumata per lo fuoco della mia gelosia. | 8 "Therefore wait for me," says the LORD, "for the day when I arise as a witness. For my decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them my indignation, all the heat of my anger; for in the fire of my jealous wrath all the earth shall be consumed. |
| 9 Perciocchè allora muterò le labbra de’ popoli in labbra pure; acciocchè tutti quanti invochino il Nome del Signore, e lo servano di pari consentimento. | 9 "Yea, at that time I will change the speech of the peoples to a pure speech, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD and serve him with one accord. |
| 10 Di là da’ fiumi d’Etiopia i miei supplicanti, la moltitudine de’ miei dispersi, porteranno le mie offerte. | 10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, the daughter of my dispersed ones, shall bring my offering. |
| 11 In quel giorno tu non sarai confusa per tutte le tue opere, con le quali hai misfatto contro a me; perciocchè allora io torrò del mezzo di te i tuoi superbi trionfanti, e tu non superbirai più per lo monte mio santo; | 11 "On that day you shall not be put to shame because of the deeds by which you have rebelled against me; for then I will remove from your midst your proudly exultant ones, and you shall no longer be haughty in my holy mountain. |
| 12 e lascerò di resto dentro di te un popolo umile, e povero, il quale spererà nel Nome del Signore. | 12 For I will leave in the midst of you a people humble and lowly. They shall seek refuge in the name of the LORD, |
| 13 Il rimanente d’Israele non commetterà iniquità, e non proferirà menzogna, e non si troverà nella lor bocca lingua frodolente; perciocchè pastureranno, e giaceranno, e non vi sarà alcuno che li spaventi | 13 those who are left in Israel; they shall do no wrong and utter no lies, nor shall there be found in their mouth a deceitful tongue. For they shall pasture and lie down, and none shall make them afraid." |
| 14 Giubila, figliuola di Sion; da’ voci d’allegrezza, o Israele; rallegrati, e festeggia di tutto il cuor tuo, figliuola di Gerusalemme. | 14 Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! |
| 15 Il Signore ha rimossi i tuoi giudicii, ha sgombrati i tuoi nemici; il Re d’Israele, il Signore, è dentro di te, tu non vedrai più il male. | 15 The LORD has taken away the judgments against you, he has cast out your enemies. The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst; you shall fear evil no more. |
| 16 In quel giorno si dirà a Gerusalemme: Non temere; Sion, non sieno le tue mani rimesse. | 16 On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: "Do not fear, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak. |
| 17 Il Signore Iddio tuo, che è dentro di te, il Possente, ti salverà; egli gioirà di te di grande allegrezza: egli si acqueterà nel suo amore, egli festeggerà di te con grida di allegrezza. | 17 The LORD, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing |
| 18 Io raccoglierò quelli che essendo dilungati da te, erano attristati per le solennità, di ciò che, in luogo di offerte, non vi era se non obbrobrio. | 18 as on a day of festival. "I will remove disaster from you, so that you will not bear reproach for it. |
| 19 Ecco, in quel tempo io fiaccherò tutti quelli che ti avranno afflitta; e salverò le zoppe, e raccoglierò le scacciate; e le porrò in lode, e in fama, in tutti i paesi dove saranno state in vituperio. | 19 Behold, at that time I will deal with all your oppressors. And I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise and renown in all the earth. |
| 20 In quel tempo io vi ricondurrò, e in quello stesso tempo vi raccoglierò; perciocchè io vi metterò in fama, e in lode, fra tutti i popoli della terra; quando io vi avrò tratti di cattività, davanti agli occhi vostri, ha detto il Signore | 20 At that time I will bring you home, at the time when I gather you together; yea, I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes," says the LORD. |
