| 1 Moisés y los ancianos de Israel dieron esta orden al pueblo: Observa integramente el mandamiento que hoy les prescribo. | 1 Now Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, "Keep all the commandment which I command you this day. |
| 2 El día en que crucen el Jordán para ir a la tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te da, erigirás unas piedras, bien grandes, las blanquearás con cal, | 2 And on the day you pass over the Jordan to the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall set up large stones, and plaster them with plaster; |
| 3 y escribirás en ellas todas las palabras de esta Ley. Harás esto cuando cruces el Jordán para entrar en el país que te da el Señor, tu Dios –esa tierra que mana leche y miel– como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres te lo ha prometido. | 3 and you shall write upon them all the words of this law, when you pass over to enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you. |
| 4 Después de cruzar el Jordán, pondrán esas piedras en el monte Ebal, según instrucciones que hoy les doy, y las blanquearán con cal. | 4 And when you have passed over the Jordan, you shall set up these stones, concerning which I command you this day, on Mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster. |
| 5 Allí erguirás también un altar de piedra en honor del Señor, tu Dios. No usarás ningún instrumento de hierro para trabajar las piedras, | 5 And there you shall build an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones; you shall lift up no iron tool upon them. |
| 6 porque el altar del Señor deberá estar construido con piedras intactas. Ofrecerás en él holocaustos al Señor, tu Dios, | 6 You shall build an altar to the LORD your God of unhewn stones; and you shall offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God; |
| 7 e inmolarás sacrificios de comunión. Allí comerás y te alegrarás en la presencia del Señor, tu Dios, | 7 and you shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God. |
| 8 y escribirás en las piedras, con rasgos bien claros, todas las palabras de esta Ley. | 8 And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly." |
| 9 Después, Moisés y los sacerdotes levitas se dirigieron a todo Israel en estos términos: «Calla, Israel, y escucha. Hoy te has convertido en el pueblo del Señor, tu Dios. | 9 And Moses and the Levitical priests said to all Israel, "Keep silence and hear, O Israel: this day you have become the people of the LORD your God. |
| 10 Escucha la voz del Señor, tu Dios, y practica los mandamientos y las leyes que hoy te prescribo». | 10 You shall therefore obey the voice of the LORD your God, keeping his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day." |
| 11 Aquel día, Moisés dio esta orden al pueblo: | 11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying, |
| 12 Después de cruzar el Jordán, las tribus de Simeón, Leví y Judá, Isacar, José y Benjamín, estarán en el monte Garizim, para proclamar la bendición al pueblo; | 12 "When you have passed over the Jordan, these shall stand upon Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin. |
| 13 y las tribus de Rubén, Gad y Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí estarán en el monte Ebal, para proclamar la maldición. | 13 And these shall stand upon Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. |
| 14 Los levitas tomarán la palabra y dirán en alta voz a todos los hombres de Israel: | 14 And the Levites shall declare to all the men of Israel with a loud voice: |
| 15 Maldito sea el hombre que hace un ídolo tallado o de metal fundido –abominación para el Señor, obra de un artesano– y lo guarda en un lugar oculto. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 15 "'Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten image, an abomination to the LORD, a thing made by the hands of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' And all the people shall answer and say, 'Amen.' |
| 16 Maldito sea el que menosprecia a su padre o a su madre. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 16 "'Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 17 Maldito sea el que desplaza los límites de la propiedad de su vecino. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 17 "'Cursed be he who removes his neighbor's landmark.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 18 Maldito sea el que aparta a un ciego del camino. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 18 "'Cursed be he who misleads a blind man on the road.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 19 Maldito sea el que conculca el derecho del extranjero, del huérfano o de la viuda. Y todo el pueblo responderá. Amén. | 19 "'Cursed be he who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 20 Maldito sea el que se acuesta con la mujer de su padre, porque de esa manera descubre el borde de la manta de su padre. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 20 "'Cursed be he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered her who is his father's. ' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 21 Maldito sea el que se acuesta con un animal. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 21 "'Cursed be he who lies with any kind of beast.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 22 Maldito sea el que se acuesta con su hermana, la hija de su padre o de su madre. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. Maldito sea el que se acuesta con su suegra. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 22 "'Cursed be he who lies with his sister, whether the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 23 Maldito sea el que mata ocultamente a su prójimo. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 23 "'Cursed be he who lies with his mother-in-law.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 24 Maldito sea el que mata ocultamente a su prójimo. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 24 "'Cursed be he who slays his neighbor in secret.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 25 Maldito sea el que se deja sobornar para quitar la vida a un inocente: Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 25 "'Cursed be he who takes a bribe to slay an innocent person.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
| 26 Maldito sea el que no respeta ni cumple las palabras de esta Ley. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. | 26 "'Cursed be he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.' |
