| 1 En aquel tiempo, el Señor me dijo: «Talla dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras y sube a la montaña para encontrarte conmigo. Construye también un arca de madera. | 1 "At that time the LORD said to me, 'Hew two tables of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood. |
| 2 Yo escribiré en esas tablas las mismas palabras que estaban escritas en las que tú rompiste. Después las depositarás en el arca». | 2 And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.' |
| 3 Hice un arca de madera de acacia, tallé dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras y subí a la montaña con las dos tablas en la mano. | 3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, and hewed two tables of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tables in my hand. |
| 4 Entonces el Señor escribió en ellas lo mismo que había escrito antes: las diez Palabras que había promulgado en la montaña, desde el fuego, el día de la asamblea. Cuando me las entregó, | 4 And he wrote on the tables, as at the first writing, the ten commandments which the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly; and the LORD gave them to me. |
| 5 yo me di vuelta, bajé de la montaña y deposité las tablas en el arca que había construido. Allí están todavía, como el Señor me lo ordenó. | 5 Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as the LORD commanded me. |
| 6 Los israelitas partieron de los pozos de Bené Iaacán y se dirigieron hacia Moserá. Allí murió y fue enterrado Aarón, y su hijo Eleazar lo sucedió en el ejercicio del sacerdocio. | 6 (The people of Israel journeyed from Be-eroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried; and his son Eleazar ministered as priest in his stead. |
| 7 Luego siguieron avanzando hasta Gudgodá, y de allí fueron a Jotbá, una región donde abundan los torrentes. | 7 From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with brooks of water. |
| 8 Entonces el Señor puso aparte a la tribu de Leví para que transportaba al Arca de la Alianza del Señor, para que estuviera en su presencia y lo sirviera, y para que bendijera en su Nombre, como lo ha venido haciendo hasta ahora. | 8 At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister to him and to bless in his name, to this day. |
| 9 Por eso Leví no tiene parte ni herencia entre sus hermanos: el Señor es su herencia, como él mismo se lo ha declarado. | 9 Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance, as the LORD your God said to him.) |
| 10 Yo estuve en la montaña cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, como lo había estado la vez anterior, y también esa vez me escuchó el Señor. El no quiso destruirte, | 10 "I stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the LORD hearkened to me that time also; the LORD was unwilling to destroy you. |
| 11 sino que me dijo: «Ve ahora mismo a ponerte al frente del pueblo, para que entren a tomar posesión de la tierra que juré dar a sus padres». | 11 And the LORD said to me, 'Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.' |
| 12 Y ahora, Israel, esto es lo único que te pide el Señor, tu Dios: que lo temas y sigas todos sus caminos, que ames y sirvas al Señor, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma. | 12 "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, |
| 13 observando sus mandamientos y sus preceptos, que hoy te prescribo para tu bien. | 13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD, which I command you this day for your good? |
| 14 Al Señor, tu Dios, pertenecen el cielo y lo más alto del cielo, la tierra y todo lo que hay en ella. | 14 Behold, to the LORD your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it; |
| 15 Sin embargo, sólo con tus padres se unió con lazos de amor, y después de ellos los eligió a ustedes, que son su descendencia, prefiriéndolos a todos los demás pueblos. | 15 yet the LORD set his heart in love upon your fathers and chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as at this day. |
| 16 Por eso, circunciden sus corazones y no persistan en su obstinación, | 16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. |
| 17 Porque el Señor, su Dios, es el Dios de los dioses y el Señor de los señores, el Dios grande, valeroso y temible, que no hace acepción de personas ni se deja sobornar. | 17 For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. |
| 18 El hace justicia al huérfano y a la viuda, ama al extranjero y le da ropa y alimento. | 18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. |
| 19 También ustedes amarán al extranjero, ya que han sido extranjeros en Egipto. | 19 Love the sojourner therefore; for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. |
| 20 Teme al Señor, tu Dios, y sírvelo; vive unido a él y jura por su Nombre. | 20 You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve him and cleave to him, and by his name you shall swear. |
| 21 El es tu gloria y tu Dios, y él realizó en tu favor esas tremendas hazañas de que fuiste testigo. | 21 He is your praise; he is your God, who has done for you these great and terrible things which your eyes have seen. |
| 22 Porque cuando tus padres bajaron a Egipto, eran apenas setenta personas, y ahora el Señor te ha hecho numeroso como las estrellas del cielo. | 22 Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of heaven for multitude. |
