| 12 o bien tres años de hambre; o bien tres meses de derrotas ante tus enemigos, bajo los golpes de espada de tus adversarios; o bien tres días en que la espada del Señor y la peste asolarán el país y el Angel del Señor hará estragos en todo el territorio de Israel. Ahora mira bien qué debo responder al que me envió». | 12 either three years of famine; or three months of devastation by your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days of the sword of the LORD, pestilence upon the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the territory of Israel.' Now decide what answer I shall return to him who sent me." |
| 13 David dijo a Gad: «¡Estoy en un grave aprieto! Prefiero caer en manos del Señor, porque es muy grande su misericordia, antes que caer en manos de los hombres». | 13 Then David said to Gad, "I am in great distress; let me fall into the hand of the LORD, for his mercy is very great; but let me not fall into the hand of man." |

David y los ancianos, vestidos de sayales, cayeron con el rostro en tierra, | 16 And David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the LORD standing between earth and heaven, and in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces. |

| 23 Ornán respondió a David: «Tómala, y que mi señor el rey haga con ella lo que mejor le parezca. Te doy los bueyes para los holocaustos, los trillos para que sirvan de leña y el trigo para la oblación. Yo te entrego todo esto». | 23 Then Ornan said to David, "Take it; and let my lord the king do what seems good to him; see, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for a cereal offering. I give it all." |
| 24 Pero el rey David dijo a Ornán: «¡De ninguna manera! La compraré por su precio real en plata, porque no voy a tomar para el Señor lo que te pertenece, ni voy a ofrecer un holocausto que no cuesta nada». | 24 But King David said to Ornan, "No, but I will buy it for the full price; I will not take for the LORD what is yours, nor offer burnt offerings which cost me nothing." |
| 25 Así David entregó a Ornán por ese terreno la suma de seiscientos siclos de oro. | 25 So David paid Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the site. |
| 26 Allí edificó David un altar al Señor, y ofreció holocaustos y sacrificios de comunión. Invocó al Señor, y él le respondió enviando fuego del cielo sobre el altar del holocausto. | 26 And David built there an altar to the LORD and presented burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD, and he answered him with fire from heaven upon the altar of burnt offering. |
