1 Jésus leur dit encore: "En vérité, je vous le dis, certains qui sont ici ne feront pas l’expérience de la mort avant d’avoir vu le Royaume de Dieu venir avec puissance.”	1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
2 Six jours après, Jésus prit avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et les emmena à l’écart, seuls, sur une haute montagne. Là, devant eux, il fut transfiguré.	2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.
3 Ses vêtements devinrent éclatants de lumière, d’une blancheur telle qu’aucun blanchisseur sur la terre ne peut blanchir de la sorte.	3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.
4 Alors Élie leur apparut, avec Moïse: les deux étaient en conversation avec Jésus.	4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
5 Pierre prit la parole pour dire à Jésus: "Rabbi, cela tombe bien que nous soyons ici; nous allons dresser trois tentes: une pour toi, une pour Moïse et une pour Élie.”	5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
6 En réalité, il ne savait plus que dire, car ils étaient effrayés.	6 For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid.
7 Une nuée survint alors qui les prit sous son ombre, et de la nuée se fit entendre une voix: "Celui-ci est mon Fils, le Bien-Aimé, écoutez-le!”	7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
8 Et soudain, regardant autour d’eux, ils ne virent plus personne: seul Jésus était avec eux.	8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
9 Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, Jésus leur ordonna de ne raconter à personne ce qu’ils avaient vu, jusqu’à ce que le Fils de l’Homme soit ressuscité d’entre les morts.	9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
10 Ils respectèrent cet ordre, mais entre eux ils se demandaient ce que c’était que ressusciter d’entre les morts.	10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
11 C’est alors qu’ils lui posèrent la question: "Pourquoi les maîtres de la Loi disent-ils que d’abord viendra Élie?”	11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?
12 Jésus leur répondit: "Bien sûr, d’abord vient Élie qui remet tout en ordre… mais comment est-il écrit du Fils de l’Homme qu’il doit souffrir beaucoup et être méprisé?	12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
13 Élie est bien revenu, et ils l’ont traité comme ils voulaient, selon ce qui est écrit de lui.”	13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.
14 Lorsqu’ils rejoignirent les disciples, ils virent tout un attroupement autour d’eux, et des maîtres de la Loi qui discutaient avec eux.	14 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
15 Ce fut une surprise pour tout ce monde quand ils virent Jésus; ils coururent au-devant de lui pour le saluer.	15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.
16 Alors Jésus demande aux gens: "Qu’avez-vous à discuter avec eux?”	16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
17 De la foule un homme lui répond: "Maître, je t’ai amené mon fils qui est possédé d’un esprit muet.	17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18 Quand il s’empare de mon fils, il le déchire: l’enfant bave, grince des dents et devient tout raide. J’ai demandé à tes disciples de le faire sortir, mais ils n’ont pas été capables.”	18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
19 Jésus répond: "Gens sans foi, jusqu’à quand serai-je avec vous! Jusqu’à quand devrai-je vous supporter? Amenez-le moi.”	19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
20 Ils le lui amènent. À la vue de Jésus, l’esprit secoue l’enfant violemment, il tombe à terre et se roule en bavant.	20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
21 Jésus interroge son père: "Depuis combien de temps cela lui arrive-t-il? Le père répond: "Depuis son enfance.	21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
22 Souvent même il l’a jeté dans le feu et dans l’eau: il pouvait le tuer. Aie pitié de nous, et si tu peux, viens à notre secours!”	22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
23 Jésus lui dit: "Si tu peux… Mais tout est possible pour celui qui croit!”	23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 Aussitôt le père de l’enfant s’écrie: "Je crois, mais viens en aide à mon manque de foi!”	24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 Quand Jésus voit que les gens arrivent plus en nombre, il menace l’esprit impur: "Esprit muet et sourd, je te l’ordonne: sors de cet enfant et ne reviens plus jamais!”	25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 À ce moment l’esprit pousse un cri, secoue violemment l’enfant et sort. L’enfant était resté comme mort, et plusieurs disaient: "Il est mort!”	26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 Mais Jésus le prend par la main et le réveille: l’enfant se remet sur pied.	27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28 Jésus revient à la maison; quand ils sont seuls, ses disciples l’interrogent: "Pourquoi n’avons-nous pas pu le faire sortir?”	28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
29 Jésus leur répond: "Il n’y a que la prière pour faire sortir cette espèce-là.”	29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
30 Ils quittèrent cet endroit, et ils allaient de place en place à travers la Galilée. Jésus ne voulait pas qu’on le sache,	30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
31 car il était occupé à instruire ses disciples. Alors il leur dit: "Le Fils de l’Homme sera livré aux mains des hommes. Ils le tueront, et trois jours après sa mort il ressuscitera.”	31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.
32 Eux ne comprenaient pas cet avertissement, et ils avaient peur de lui en demander davantage.	32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
33 Ils arrivèrent à Capharnaüm. Une fois à la maison, Jésus les interrogea: "De quoi discutiez-vous en chemin?”	33 And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
34 Ils se turent, car en chemin ils s’étaient disputés à propos de qui était le plus grand.	34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.
35 Alors Jésus s’assoit, il appelle les Douze et leur dit: "Si quelqu’un veut être le premier, qu’il soit le dernier de tous, qu’il soit le serviteur de tous.”	35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
36 Puis il place au milieu d’eux un enfant, il l’embrasse et leur dit:	36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them,
37 "Si quelqu’un reçoit en mon nom l’un de ces enfants, c’est moi qu’il reçoit; et celui qui me reçoit, ce n’est pas moi qu’il reçoit, mais celui qui m’a envoyé.”	37 Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
38 Jean lui dit: "Maître, nous avons vu quelqu’un qui se servait de ton nom pour chasser les démons, et nous l’avons empêché car il n’est pas disciple avec nous.”	38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 Jésus lui répond: "Ne l’empêchez pas! Car personne ne peut faire un miracle en mon nom et aussitôt après parler mal de moi.	39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 “Celui qui n’est pas contre nous est pour nous.	40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
41 Celui qui vous donne un verre d’eau parce que vous êtes disciples du Christ, je vous dis qu’il ne perdra pas sa récompense.”	41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
42 “Si quelqu’un devait faire chuter l’un de ces petits qui croient, mieux vaudrait pour lui qu’on lui attache au cou une meule de moulin et qu’on le jette dans la mer.	42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
43 “Si ta main doit te faire chuter, coupe-la! Mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie avec une seule main, que t’en aller avec tes deux mains à la géhenne,	43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
44 au feu qui ne s’éteint pas.	44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45 “Et si ton pied doit te faire chuter, coupe-le! Mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie avec un seul pied, qu’être jeté avec tes deux pieds dans la géhenne.	45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
46 NO TEXT	46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 “Si ton œil doit te faire chuter, jette-le loin de toi! Mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu avec un seul œil que d’en avoir deux et d’être jeté dans la géhenne,	47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
48 où le ver ne meurt pas et où le feu ne s’éteint pas.	48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
49 Car ce feu fera l’office du sel.	49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.
50 “Le sel est bon; mais si le sel n’est plus salé, comment lui redonnerez-vous du mordant? Ayez du sel en vous-mêmes et vivez en paix les uns avec les autres.”	50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
