1 Yahvé dit à Moïse:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 “Voici ce que tu diras à la communauté d’Israël: Soyez saints, car moi, Yahvé votre Dieu, je suis saint!	2 'Speak to the whole community of Israelites and say: "Be holy, for I, Yahweh your God, am holy.
3 Chacun respectera sa mère et son père, et vous observerez mes sabbats: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!	3 "Each of you wil respect father and mother. "And you wil keep my Sabbaths; I am Yahweh your God.
4 Vous ne vous tournerez pas vers les idoles, vous ne vous fabriquerez pas des dieux en métal fondu: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!	4 "Do not turn to idols and do not cast metal gods for yourselves. I am Yahweh your God.
5 Lorsque vous offrirez un sacrifice de communion en l’honneur de Yahvé, vous le ferez de manière à lui être agréable.	5 "If you offer a communion sacrifice to Yahweh, make it in such a way as to be acceptable.
6 Vous mangerez de votre sacrifice le jour même et le lendemain, mais ce qui restera le troisième jour sera brûlé.	6 It must be eaten the same day or the day after; whatever is left on the third day must be burnt.
7 Si quelqu’un en mange le troisième jour, c’est un acte abominable: son sacrifice ne sera pas agréé.	7 If eaten on the third day it would be rotten food and not be acceptable.
8 Celui qui en mangera répondra de sa faute, car il a profané ce qui est consacré à Yahvé: cet homme sera retranché de son peuple.”	8 Anyone who eats it must bear the consequences of this guilt, having profaned Yahweh's holiness; thatperson wil be outlawed from his people.
9 “Quand viendra le temps de moissonner vos terres, tu ne moissonneras pas jusqu’à la limite de ton champ et tu ne ramasseras pas ce qui peut être glané de ta moisson.	9 "When you reap the harvest of your land, you wil not reap to the very edges of the field, nor wil yougather the gleanings of the harvest;
10 Tu ne cueilleras pas non plus les grappes restées sur ta vigne et tu ne ramasseras pas les fruits tombés dans ton verger. Tu les laisseras pour le pauvre et l’étranger: je suis Yahvé ton Dieu!	10 nor wil you strip your vineyard bare, nor pick up the fal en grapes. You will leave them for the poorand the stranger. I am Yahweh your God.
11 Vous ne volerez pas, vous ne tromperez pas votre prochain, vous ne mentirez pas.	11 "You will not steal, nor deal deceitful y or fraudulently with your fel ow-citizen.
12 Vous ne jurerez pas par mon nom pour appuyer un mensonge: ce serait profaner le nom de ton Dieu: je suis Yahvé!	12 You wil not swear by my name with intent to deceive and thus profane the name of your God. I amYahweh.
13 Tu n’opprimeras pas ton prochain, tu ne le dépouilleras pas; le salaire de celui qui travaille pour toi ne restera pas chez toi jusqu’au lendemain.	13 You wil not exploit or rob your fel ow. You wil not keep back the labourer's wage until next morning.
14 Tu ne prononceras pas de malédiction contre un sourd, tu ne mettras pas d’obstacle devant un aveugle pour le faire tomber; mais tu auras la crainte de ton Dieu: je suis Yahvé!	14 You wil not curse the dumb or put an obstacle in the way of the blind, but will fear your God. I amYahweh.
15 Vous ne commettrez pas d’injustice dans les jugements. Tu ne feras pas de faveur au pauvre, tu ne feras pas d’honneur au puissant, mais tu jugeras ton prochain avec justice.	15 "You will not be unjust in administering justice. You wil neither be partial to the poor nor overawed bythe great, but will administer justice to your fel ow-citizen justly.
16 Tu ne calomnieras pas tes parents, tu n’exigeras pas le sang de ton prochain: je suis Yahvé!	16 You wil not go about slandering your own family, nor will you put your neighbour's life in jeopardy. Iam Yahweh.
17 Tu n’auras pas de haine dans ton cœur pour ton frère, mais tu le corrigeras, car en te taisant tu serais complice de son péché.	17 You wil not harbour hatred for your brother. You will reprove your fel ow-countryman firmly and thusavoid burdening yourself with a sin.
18 Tu ne te vengeras pas, tu ne garderas pas de rancune envers un fils de ton peuple, mais tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même: je suis Yahvé!	18 You wil not exact vengeance on, or bear any sort of grudge against, the members of your race, butwil love your neighbour as yourself. I am Yahweh.
19 Vous observerez mes coutumes: tu n’accoupleras pas deux bêtes d’espèces différentes; tu ne sèmeras pas dans ton champ deux graines d’espèces différentes; tu ne porteras pas de vêtement tissé de deux espèces de fil différentes.	19 "You will keep my laws. "You will not mate your cattle with those of another kind; you wil not sow twokinds of grain in your field; you wil not wear a garment made from two kinds of fabric.
20 Si un homme a des rapports avec une esclave déjà fiancée à un autre homme, mais qui n’a été ni rachetée ni affranchie, ils seront châtiés tous les deux mais non punis de mort, car la femme n’était pas affranchie.	20 "If someone has intercourse with a woman who is the concubine slave of a man from whom she hasnot been redeemed and she has not been given her freedom, he wil be liable for a fine, but they will not incurdeath, since she was not a free woman.
21 Pour sa faute, l’homme amènera à Yahvé, devant la Tente du Rendez-Vous, un bélier pour le sacrifice d’expiation.	21 He wil bring a sacrifice of reparation for Yahweh to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. This wil be aram of reparation,
22 Le prêtre offrira le bélier et fera pour lui l’expiation devant Yahvé pour le péché qu’il a commis, et son péché lui sera pardonné.	22 and with the ram of reparation the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh forthe sin committed; and the sin he has committed wil be forgiven.
23 Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays et que vous aurez planté toutes sortes d’arbres fruitiers, vous regarderez les fruits comme incirconcis: les trois premières années vous n’en mangerez point.	23 "Once you have entered the country and planted any kind of fruit tree, you will regard its fruit asuncircumcised. For three years you wil count it as uncircumcised and it wil not be eaten;
24 La quatrième année, tous les fruits seront consacrés à Yahvé.	24 in the fourth year, al its fruit wil be consecrated to Yahweh in a feast of praise;
25 À partir de la cinquième année vous mangerez les fruits de l’arbre car ils seront désormais pour vous: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!	25 and in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, so that it may yield you even more. I am Yahweh your God.
26 Vous ne mangerez rien avec le sang, vous ne pratiquerez ni sorcellerie, ni magie.	26 "You will eat nothing with blood in it. You wil not practise divination or magic.
27 Vous ne tondrez pas en rond les cheveux de votre tête et vous ne couperez pas les coins de votre barbe.	27 "You will not round off your hair at the edges or trim the edges of your beard.
28 Vous ne vous ferez pas d’incision sur le corps pour un mort et vous ne vous ferez pas d’inscription ou de tatouage sur le corps: je suis Yahvé!	28 You wil not gash your bodies when someone dies, and you will not tattoo yourselves. I am Yahweh.
29 Ne livre pas ta fille à la prostitution, sinon vous aurez un pays de prostituées, un réservoir de crimes.	29 "Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the country itself will become prostitutedand fil ed with incest.
30 Vous observerez mes sabbats et vous aurez du respect pour ma Demeure: je suis Yahvé!	30 "You will keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am Yahweh.
31 Ne vous tournez pas vers ceux qui évoquent les esprits, vers les sorciers. Ne les consultez pas, ne vous souillez pas avec eux: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!	31 "Do not have recourse to the spirits of the dead or to magicians; they wil defile you. I, Yahweh, amyour God.
32 Tu te lèveras devant une personne âgée et tu honoreras le vieillard, ce sera ta façon de craindre ton Dieu: je suis Yahvé!	32 "You will stand up in the presence of grey hair, you wil honour the person of the aged and fear yourGod. I am Yahweh.
33 Si un étranger vient habiter dans votre pays, vous ne l’opprimerez pas.	33 "If you have resident aliens in your country, you wil not molest them.
34 Vous traiterez l’étranger qui est au milieu de vous comme un homme du pays. Tu l’aimeras comme toi-même, car vous aussi vous avez été étrangers dans le pays d’Égypte: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!	34 You wil treat resident aliens as though they were native-born and love them as yourself -- for youyourselves were once aliens in Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.
35 Vous ne commettrez pas d’injustice, ni dans vos sentences, ni dans les mesures, ni dans les poids, ni dans les contenances.	35 "You will not be unjust in administering justice as regards measures of length, weight or capacity.
36 Vos balances seront justes, vos poids seront justes, toutes vos mesures seront justes. Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu, qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d’Égypte.	36 You wil have just scales, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin. I am Yahweh your God whobrought you out of Egypt;
37 Vous observerez donc toutes mes coutumes et tous mes commandements, et vous les mettrez en pratique: je suis Yahvé!”	37 hence you are to keep al my laws and all my customs and put them into practice. I am Yahweh." '
