1 David rassembla à Jérusalem tous les chefs d’Israël, les chefs de tribus et les chefs des divers groupes au service du roi, les chefs de mille, les chefs de cent, les intendants préposés aux biens et aux troupeaux du roi et de ses fils, ainsi que les eunuques, les soldats d’élite, et tous les courageux guerriers.	1 And so David called together all the leaders of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and those in charge of the companies, who were ministering to the king, and also the tribunes and centurions, and those in charge of the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons, with the eunuchs and the powerful and those most experienced in the army, at Jerusalem.
2 Alors David se leva et dit: “Mes frères et mon peuple, écoutez-moi! Je voulais construire une demeure fixe pour l’Arche d’Alliance de Yahvé sur laquelle se repose notre Dieu. J’ai donc fait les préparatifs pour la construction,	2 And when the king had risen up and was standing, he said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I thought that I would build a house, in which the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the footstool of our God, might rest. And so I prepared everything for its building.
3 mais Dieu m’a dit: tu ne bâtiras pas une Maison pour mon Nom, car tu as été un homme de guerre et tu as fait couler le sang.	3 But God said to me: ‘You shall not build a house to my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’
4 Yahvé, Dieu d’Israël, m’a choisi parmi toute la famille de mon père pour régner à jamais sur Israël. En effet, il a choisi Juda comme chef; dans la tribu de Juda, il a choisi la maison de mon père, et parmi les fils de mon père, c’est moi qu’il a voulu établir comme roi sur tout Israël.	4 Now the Lord God of Israel chose me, out of the entire house of my father, so that I would be king over Israel forever. For from Judah he chose leaders; then from the house of Judah he chose the house of my father; and from the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me as king over all of Israel.
5 De tous mes fils, - car Yahvé m’en a donné beaucoup- il a choisi mon fils Salomon pour s’asseoir sur le trône de Yahvé en Israël.	5 Then too, among my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he chose Solomon my son, so that he would sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord, over Israel.
6 Il m’a dit: c’est ton fils Salomon qui construira mon Temple et mes parvis, car je l’ai choisi pour fils, et moi, je serai un père pour lui.	6 And he said to me: ‘Solomon your son shall build my house and my courts. For I have chosen him to be to me as a son, and I will be to him as a father.
7 S’il continue à observer soigneusement mes lois et mes commandements comme il le fait maintenant, j’affermirai sa royauté à jamais.	7 And I will make firm his kingdom, even unto eternity, if he will persevere in doing my precepts and judgments, as also today.’
8 Et maintenant, sous les yeux de tout Israël qui est l’assemblée de Yahvé, et aux oreilles de notre Dieu, je vous le dis: observez et méditez tous les commandements de Yahvé notre Dieu pour qu’il nous garde en ce beau pays et que vous le transmettiez à vos fils en héritage perpétuel.	8 Now therefore, before the entire assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God, so that you may possess the good land, and may bequeath it to your sons after you, even forever.
9 Et toi, Salomon, mon fils, connais le Dieu de ton père, sers-le avec fidélité et générosité, car Yahvé connaît le fond de tous les cœurs et pénètre toutes les pensées. Si tu le cherches, il se laissera trouver par toi, mais si tu l’abandonnes, il te rejettera pour toujours.	9 And as for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands the thoughts of all minds. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will cast you aside for eternity.
10 Regarde maintenant! Yahvé t’a choisi pour lui construire une demeure qui sera un sanctuaire. Sois fort et mets-toi à l’œuvre.”	10 Now therefore, since the Lord has chosen you, so that you would build the house of the Sanctuary, be strengthened and accomplish it.”
11 David donna à son fils Salomon les plans du vestibule, des bâtiments, des salles des trésors, des chambres hautes, des appartements intérieurs, et de la salle de l’Instrument du Pardon.	11 Then David gave to his son Solomon a description of the portico, and the temple, and the storerooms, and the upper floor, and the innermost rooms, and the house of propitiation,
12 Il lui donna aussi le plan de tout ce qu’il avait dans l’esprit pour les parvis de la demeure de Yahvé, pour tous les appartements environnants, les salles des trésors de la Maison de Yahvé et des trésors des offrandes saintes,	12 and indeed also of all the courts that he had planned, and the outer rooms on all sides, for the treasuries of the house of the Lord, and for the treasuries of the holy things,
13 l’ordre des prêtres et des lévites, les rituels liturgiques de la Maison de Yahvé, et tout le mobilier du service de la Maison de Yahvé.	13 and for the divisions of the priests and the Levites: concerning all the works of the house of the Lord and all the items in the ministry of the temple of the Lord.
14 Il lui donna des instructions sur la quantité d’or nécessaire aux objets utilisés pour chacun des services, sur la quantité d’argent nécessaire aux objets utilisés pour chacun des services,	14 There was gold by weight for every vessel of the ministry, and also silver by weight for the diversity of vessels and equipment.
15 la quantité d’or des chandeliers et de leurs lampes selon le poids de chaque chandelier et de ses lampes, la quantité d’argent pour les chandeliers et leurs lampes, selon l’usage que l’on devait en faire;	15 Then too, he distributed gold for the lampstands and their lamps, according to the measure of each of the lampstands with their lamps. Similarly also, he distributed silver by weight for the silver lampstands with their lamps, according to the diversity of their measure.
16 la quantité d’or pour chacune des tables sur lesquelles les pains seraient rangés; l’argent pour les tables en argent,	16 Also, he gave gold for the tables of the presence, according to the diversity of the tables; similarly too, he gave silver for the other tables of silver.
17 les fourchettes, les coupes d’or; le poids d’or pour chaque plat creux, le poids d’argent pour chaque coupe;	17 Also, he distributed from the purest gold for the small hooks and the bowls and the censors, as well as for the little lions of gold, in accord with the precise measure of the weight, for lion after lion. Similarly too, for the lions of silver, he set aside a different weight of silver.
18 le poids d’or fin pour l’autel des encens. Il lui donna les plans du Char avec les Chérubins en or dont les ailes déployées couvraient l’Arche d’Alliance de Yahvé.	18 Then, for the altar on which the incense was burned, he gave the purest gold. And from the same he made the likeness of the chariot of the Cherubim, with extended wings, which is veiling the ark of the covenant of the Lord.
19 “Tout cela, dit-il, m’a été donné par écrit par Yahvé, il m’en a fait connaître les moindres détails.”	19 “All these things,” he said, “came to me written by the hand of the Lord, so that I would understand all the works of the pattern.”
20 David dit ensuite à son fils Salomon: “Sois fort et courageux, sois sans crainte et déterminé! Mets-toi à l’œuvre: Yahvé mon Dieu sera avec toi. Il ne te fera pas défaut ni ne t’abandonnera avant que tu aies terminé tout le travail qui doit être fait pour la Maison de Yahvé.	20 David also said to his son Solomon: “Act manfully, and be strengthened, and carry it out. You should not be afraid, and you should not be dismayed. For the Lord my God will be with you, and he will not send you away, nor will he abandon you, until you have perfected the entire work of the ministry of the house of the Lord.
21 Voici les ordres des prêtres et des lévites pour tous les services de la Maison de Dieu: chaque homme de bonne volonté avec ses aptitudes t’apportera son concours pour tout ce travail; les chefs et tout le peuple seront entièrement à tes ordres.”	21 Behold, the divisions of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, are standing before you. And they have been prepared, and so they know, both the leaders and the people, how to carry out all your precepts.”
