Levitico 21

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Disse Iddio a Moisè: parla alli sacerdoti figliuoli d'Aaron, e dirai loro, che non si maculi lo sacerdote della morte de' suoi cittadini (cioè togandogli, lavandoli, piangendo, e altre simili cose che si sogliono fare),	1 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: "None of them mustmake himself unclean by touching the corpse of one of his people,
2 se non fosse suo parente, siccome fosse lo padre e la madre, e lo figliuolo e figliuola e fratello,	2 unless it be of one of his closest relations-father, mother, son, daughter, brother,
3 e sorella vergine, la quale non sia maritata.	3 or virgin sister, since she being unmarried is still his close relation: he can make himself unclean forher;
4 Neanco si maculi sopra il principe del popolo suo.	4 but for a close female relation who is married he wil not make himself unclean; he would profanehimself.
5 Non si radino lo capo nè la barba, nè in le loro carni faccino incisura.	5 "They wil not make tonsures on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or gash their bodies.
6 E saranno santi allo Iddio loro; e non be stemmieranno il nome suo. Lo incenso e il pane offerranno allo Iddio loro; e però saranno santi.	6 They wil be consecrated to their God and wil not profane the name of their God. For their function isto offer the food burnt for Yahweh, the food of their God, and so they must be holy.
7 Femina meretrice non meneranno per moglie, nè quella che sarà cacciata dal suo marito; perciò ch' egli è consecrato al suo Iddio,	7 "They wil not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priestis consecrated to his God.
8 e offerisce lo sacrificio. Sia dunque santo; perchè io sono santo Signore, lo quale vi santifico.	8 "You wil treat him as holy, for he offers the food of your God. For you, he wil be a holy person, for I,Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.
9 E se la figliuola del sacerdote (vergine) sarà trovata violata, e avrà deturpato il nome del padre suo, sia arsa al fuoco.	9 "If a priest's daughter profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father and wil be burnt alive.
10 Lo pontefice, cioè lo sacerdote grande infra' suoi fratelli, al quale è istato unto il capo, e le mani sue sono istate consecrate, e vestito delle (sue) veste sante, lo capo suo non si discoprirà, e le vestimenta non isquarcerà.	10 "The priest who is pre-eminent over his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured,and who, robed in the sacred vestments, has received investiture, wil not disorder his hair or tear his clothes;
11 E ad ogni morto non entrerà per alcuno modo; e sopra la morte dello padre e della madre non si contamini.	11 he wil not go near any corpse or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.
12 Nè uscirà de' luoghi santi, acciò che [non] maculi lo santuario del Signore, perchè dell' olio santo sì è unto. E io sono Iddio.	12 He wil not leave the holy place in such a way as to profane the sanctuary of his God; for he bears theconsecration of the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh.
13 E la moglie sua sarà vergine, quando la piglierà.	13 "He will marry a woman who is stil a virgin.
14 E non pigli vedova, nè cacciata dal suo marito, nè meretrice, nè bagascia; ma sia pul cella del popolo suo.	14 He wil not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but wilmarry a virgin from his own people:
15 E non mesedi la stirpe del suo parentado col vulgo della gente sua; perciò ch' io sono il Signore, che lo santifico.	15 he must not make his own children profane, for I, Yahweh, have sanctified him." '
16 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli:	16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
17 Parla ad Aaron: l'uomo del parentado tuo per le famiglie sue, ch' avrà macula, non offerirà a Dio sacrificio,	17 'Speak to Aaron and say: "None of your descendants, for al time, may come forward to offer the foodof his God if he has any infirmity,
18 nè anderà al suo ministerio. Se (della schiatta d'Aaron) nascerà cieco e zoppo, ovver di piccolo o grande o torto naso,	18 for none may come forward if he has an infirmity, be he blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,
19 ovver di mano o di piede rotto;	19 or with an injured foot or arm,
20 se gobbo, se cogli occhi lacrimosi, se losco, se scabie continua, se scabie sicca averà nel corpo, ovvero rotto sarà dalle parti di sotto;	20 a hunchback, someone with rickets or ophthalmia or the scab or running sores, or a eunuch.
21 ogni uomo il quale avrà macula notabile della progenie di Aaron sacerdote, non anderà a fare sacrificio a Dio, nè li pani al suo Iddio (all'altare).	21 No descendant of the priest Aaron may come forward to offer the food burnt for Yahweh if he has anyinfirmity; if he has an infirmity, he wil not come forward to offer the food of his God.
22 Voglio che si nutrichi della offerta che si farà nel santuario;	22 "He may eat the food of his God, things especially holy and things holy,
23 sì che non entri dentro del velo del templo, (non entri nel tabernacolo), nè non vada all'altare; perciò che hae macula, e non debbe lo santuario mio maculare. E io sono Iddio, che vi santifico.	23 but he wil not go near the curtain or approach the altar, since he has an infirmity and must notprofane my holy things; for I, Yahweh, have sanctified them." '
24 Parloe Moisè ad Aaron e ai figliuoli, e a tutto il popolo d'Israel, tutte queste cose che Dio gli comando.	24 And Moses promulgated this to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the Israelites.
