1 מִי יִתֶּנְךָ כְּאָח לִי יֹונֵק שְׁדֵי אִמִּי אֶמְצָאֲךָ בַחוּץ אֶשָּׁקְךָ גַּם לֹא־יָבוּזוּ לִי | 1 Ah, why are you not my brother, nursed at my mother's breast! Then if I met you out of doors, I couldkiss you without people thinking il of me. |
2 אֶנְהָגֲךָ אֲבִיאֲךָ אֶל־בֵּית אִמִּי תְּלַמְּדֵנִי אַשְׁקְךָ מִיַּיִן הָרֶקַח מֵעֲסִיס רִמֹּנִי | 2 I should lead you, I should take you into my mother's house, and you would teach me! I should give youspiced wine to drink, juice of my pomegranates. |
3 שְׂמֹאלֹו תַּחַת רֹאשִׁי וִימִינֹו תְּחַבְּקֵנִי | 3 His left arm is under my head and his right embraces me. |
4 הִשְׁבַּעְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בְּנֹות יְרוּשָׁלִָם מַה־תָּעִירוּ ׀ וּמַה־תְּעֹרְרוּ אֶת־הָאַהֲבָה עַד שֶׁתֶּחְפָּץ׃ ס | 4 LOVER: I charge you, daughters of Jerusalem, do not rouse, do not wake my beloved, before shepleases! |
5 מִי זֹאת עֹלָה מִן־הַמִּדְבָּר מִתְרַפֶּקֶת עַל־דֹּודָהּ תַּחַת הַתַּפּוּחַ עֹורַרְתִּיךָ מָּה חִבְּלַתְךָ אִמֶּךָ שָׁמָּה חִבְּלָה יְלָדַתְךָ | 5 Who is this coming up from the desert leaning on her lover? I awakened you under the apple tree, whereyour mother conceived you, where she who bore you conceived you. |
6 שִׂימֵנִי כַחֹותָם עַל־לִבֶּךָ כַּחֹותָם עַל־זְרֹועֶךָ כִּי־עַזָּה כַמָּוֶת אַהֲבָה קָשָׁה כִשְׁאֹול קִנְאָה רְשָׁפֶיהָ רִשְׁפֵּי אֵשׁ שַׁלְהֶבֶתְיָה | 6 BELOVED: Set me like a seal on your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is strong as Death,passion as relentless as Sheol. The flash of it is a flash of fire, a flame of Yahweh himself. |
7 מַיִם רַבִּים לֹא יוּכְלוּ לְכַבֹּות אֶת־הָאַהֲבָה וּנְהָרֹות לֹא יִשְׁטְפוּהָ אִם־יִתֵּן אִישׁ אֶת־כָּל־הֹון בֵּיתֹו בָּאַהֲבָה בֹּוז יָבוּזוּ לֹו׃ ס | 7 Love no flood can quench, no torrents drown. Were a man to offer all his family wealth to buy love,contempt is al that he would gain. |
8 אָחֹות לָנוּ קְטַנָּה וְשָׁדַיִם אֵין לָהּ מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה לַאֲחֹתֵנוּ בַּיֹּום שֶׁיְּדֻבַּר־בָּהּ | 8 Our sister is little: her breasts are not yet formed. What shal we do for our sister on the day she isspoken for? |
9 אִם־חֹומָה הִיא נִבְנֶה עָלֶיהָ טִירַת כָּסֶף וְאִם־דֶּלֶת הִיא נָצוּר עָלֶיהָ לוּחַ אָרֶז | 9 If she is a rampart, on the crest we shal build a battlement of silver; if she is a door, we shal board herup with planks of cedar. |
10 אֲנִי חֹומָה וְשָׁדַי כַּמִּגְדָּלֹות אָז הָיִיתִי בְעֵינָיו כְּמֹוצְאֵת שָׁלֹום׃ פ | 10 I am a wal , and my breasts represent its towers. And under their eyes I have found true peace. |
11 כֶּרֶם הָיָה לִשְׁלֹמֹה בְּבַעַל הָמֹון נָתַן אֶת־הַכֶּרֶם לַנֹּטְרִים אִישׁ יָבִא בְּפִרְיֹו אֶלֶף כָּסֶף | 11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-Hamon. He entrusted it to overseers, and each one was to pay himthe value of its produce, a thousand shekels of silver. |
12 כַּרְמִי שֶׁלִּי לְפָנָי הָאֶלֶף לְךָ שְׁלֹמֹה וּמָאתַיִם לְנֹטְרִים אֶת־פִּרְיֹו | 12 But I tend my own vineyard myself. You, Solomon, may have your thousand shekels, and those whooversee its produce their two hundred. |
13 הַיֹּושֶׁבֶת בַּגַּנִּים חֲבֵרִים מַקְשִׁיבִים לְקֹולֵךְ הַשְׁמִיעִינִי | 13 You who dwel in the gardens, my companions listen for your voice; let me hear it. |
14 בְּרַח ׀ דֹּודִי וּדְמֵה־לְךָ לִצְבִי אֹו לְעֹפֶר הָאַיָּלִים עַל הָרֵי בְשָׂמִים | 14 Haste away, my love, be like a gazel e, a young stag, on the spice-laden mountains. |
15 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הֲרָאִיתָ בֶן־אָדָם עֹוד תָּשׁוּב תִּרְאֶה תֹּועֵבֹות גְּדֹלֹות מֵאֵלֶּה | |
16 וַיָּבֵא אֹתִי אֶל־חֲצַר בֵּית־יְהוָה הַפְּנִימִית וְהִנֵּה־פֶתַח הֵיכַל יְהוָה בֵּין הָאוּלָם וּבֵין הַמִּזְבֵּחַ כְּעֶשְׂרִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה אִישׁ אֲחֹרֵיהֶם אֶל־הֵיכַל יְהוָה וּפְנֵיהֶם קֵדְמָה וְהֵמָּה מִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶם קֵדְמָה לַשָּׁמֶשׁ | |
17 וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הֲרָאִיתָ בֶן־אָדָם הֲנָקֵל לְבֵית יְהוּדָה מֵעֲשֹׂות אֶת־הַתֹּועֵבֹות אֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ־פֹה כִּי־מָלְאוּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ חָמָס וַיָּשֻׁבוּ לְהַכְעִיסֵנִי וְהִנָּם שֹׁלְחִים אֶת־הַזְּמֹורָה אֶל־אַפָּם | |
18 וְגַם־אֲנִי אֶעֱשֶׂה בְחֵמָה לֹא־תָחֹוס עֵינִי וְלֹא אֶחְמֹל וְקָרְאוּ בְאָזְנַי קֹול גָּדֹול וְלֹא אֶשְׁמַע אֹותָם | |
