SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 قد كلمتكم بهذا لكي لا تعثروا.	1 I have told you al this so that you may not fal away.
2 سيخرجونكم من المجامع بل تأتي ساعة فيها يظن كل من يقتلكم انه يقدم خدمة لله.	2 They wil expel you from the synagogues, and indeed the time is coming when anyone who kills youwil think he is doing a holy service to God.
3 وسيفعلون هذا بكم لانهم لم يعرفوا الآب ولا عرفوني.	3 They wil do these things because they have never known either the Father or me.
4 لكني قد كلمتكم بهذا حتى اذا جاءت الساعة تذكرون اني انا قلته لكم. ولم اقل لكم من البداءة لاني كنت معكم.	4 But I have told you all this, so that when the time for it comes you may remember that I told you. I didnot tell you this from the beginning, because I was with you;
5 واما الآن فانا ماض الى الذي ارسلني وليس احد منكم يسألني اين تمضي.	5 but now I am going to the one who sent me. Not one of you asks, 'Where are you going?'
6 لكن لاني قلت لكم هذا قد ملأ الحزن قلوبكم.	6 Yet you are sad at heart because I have told you this.
7 لكني اقول لكم الحق انه خير لكم ان انطلق. لانه ان لم انطلق لا يأتيكم المعزي. ولكن ان ذهبت ارسله اليكم.	7 Stil , I am telling you the truth: it is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, theParaclete wil not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
8 ومتى جاء ذاك يبكت العالم على خطية وعلى بر وعلى دينونة.	8 And when he comes, he wil show the world how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in theright, and about judgement:
9 اما على خطية فلانهم لا يؤمنون بي.	9 about sin: in that they refuse to believe in me;
10 واما على بر فلاني ذاهب الى ابي ولا ترونني ايضا.	10 about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father and you will see me no more;
11 واما على دينونة فلأن رئيس هذا العالم قد دين	11 about judgement: in that the prince of this world is already condemned.
12 ان لي أمورا كثيرة ايضا لاقول لكم ولكن لا تستطيعون ان تحتملوا الآن.	12 I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you to bear now.
13 واما متى جاء ذاك روح الحق فهو يرشدكم الى جميع الحق لانه لا يتكلم من نفسه بل كل ما يسمع يتكلم به ويخبركم بامور آتية.	13 However, when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, since he wil not bespeaking of his own accord, but wil say only what he has been told; and he wil reveal to you the things to come.
14 ذاك يمجدني لانه يأخذ مما لي ويخبركم.	14 He wil glorify me, since al he reveals to you wil be taken from what is mine.
15 كل ما للآب هو لي. لهذا قلت انه يأخذ مما لي ويخبركم.	15 Everything the Father has is mine; that is why I said: all he reveals to you wil be taken from what ismine.
16 بعد قليل لا تبصرونني. ثم بعد قليل ايضا ترونني لاني ذاهب الى الآب	16 In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again.
17 فقال قوم من تلاميذه بعضهم لبعض ما هو هذا الذي يقوله لنا بعد قليل لا تبصرونني ثم بعد قليل ايضا ترونني ولاني ذاهب الى الآب.	17 Then some of his disciples said to one another, 'What does he mean, "In a short time you wil nolonger see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again," and, "I am going to the Father"?
18 فقالوا ما هو هذا القليل الذي يقول عنه. لسنا نعلم بماذا يتكلم.	18 What is this "short time"? We don't know what he means.'
19 فعلم يسوع انهم كانوا يريدون ان يسألوه فقال لهم أعن هذا تتساءلون فيما بينكم لاني قلت بعد قليل لا تبصرونني ثم بعد قليل ايضا ترونني.	19 Jesus knew that they wanted to question him, so he said, 'You are asking one another what I meantby saying, "In a short time you wil no longer see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again."
20 الحق الحق اقول لكم انكم ستبكون وتنوحون والعالم يفرح. انتم ستحزنون ولكن حزنكم يتحول الى فرح.	20 'In al truth I tell you, you wil be weeping and wailing while the world wil rejoice; you will be sorrowful,but your sorrow wil turn to joy.
21 المرأة وهي تلد تحزن لان ساعتها قد جاءت. ولكن متى ولدت الطفل لا تعود تذكر الشدة لسبب الفرح لانه قد ولد انسان في العالم.	21 A woman in childbirth suffers, because her time has come; but when she has given birth to the childshe forgets the suffering in her joy that a human being has been born into the world.
22 فانتم كذلك عندكم الآن حزن. ولكني سأراكم ايضا فتفرح قلوبكم ولا ينزع احد فرحكم منكم.	22 So it is with you: you are sad now, but I shal see you again, and your hearts wil be ful of joy, andthat joy no one shal take from you.
23 وفي ذلك اليوم لا تسألونني شيئا. الحق الحق اقول لكم ان كل ما طلبتم من الآب باسمي يعطيكم.	23 When that day comes, you will not ask me any questions. In all truth I tel you, anything you ask fromthe Father he wil grant in my name.
24 الى الآن لم تطلبوا شيئا باسمي. اطلبوا تأخذوا ليكون فرحكم كاملا	24 Until now you have not asked anything in my name. Ask and you wil receive, and so your joy wil becomplete.
25 قد كلمتكم بهذا بامثال ولكن تأتي ساعة حين لا اكلمكم ايضا بامثال بل اخبركم عن الآب علانية.	25 I have been tel ing you these things in veiled language. The hour is coming when I shall no longerspeak to you in veiled language but tell you about the Father in plain words.
26 في ذلك اليوم تطلبون باسمي. ولست اقول لكم اني انا اسأل الآب من اجلكم.	26 When that day comes you wil ask in my name; and I do not say that I shal pray to the Father for you,
27 لان الآب نفسه يحبكم لانكم قد احببتموني وآمنتم اني من عند الله خرجت.	27 because the Father himself loves you for loving me, and believing that I came from God.
28 خرجت من عند الآب وقد أتيت الى العالم وايضا اترك العالم واذهب الى الآب	28 I came from the Father and have come into the world and now I am leaving the world to go to theFather.'
29 قال له تلاميذه هوذا الآن تتكلم علانية ولست تقول مثلا واحدا.	29 His disciples said, 'Now you are speaking plainly and not using veiled language.
30 الآن نعلم انك عالم بكل شيء ولست تحتاج ان يسألك احد. لهذا نؤمن انك من الله خرجت.	30 Now we see that you know everything and need not wait for questions to be put into words; becauseof this we believe that you came from God.'
31 اجابهم يسوع الآن تؤمنون.	31 Jesus answered them: Do you believe at last?
32 هوذا تأتي ساعة وقد أتت الآن تتفرقون فيها كل واحد الى خاصته وتتركونني وحدي. وانا لست وحدي لان الآب معي.	32 Listen; the time wil come -- indeed it has come already -- when you are going to be scattered, eachgoing his own way and leaving me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 قد كلمتكم بهذا ليكون لكم فيّ سلام. في العالم سيكون لكم ضيق. ولكن ثقوا. انا قد غلبت العالم	33 I have told you al this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you wil have hardship, but becourageous: I have conquered the world.
