LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Entrò di nuovo nella sinagoga, nella quale vi era un uomo che aveva una mano paralizzata,	1 Another time he went into the synagogue, and there was a man present whose hand was withered.
2 ed essi stavano ad osservarlo per vedere se lo avrebbe guarito di sabato, per poterlo accusare.	2 And they were watching him to see if he would cure him on the Sabbath day, hoping for something tocharge him with.
3 Dice all'uomo che aveva la mano paralizzata: "Lèvati su, in mezzo!".	3 He said to the man with the withered hand, 'Get up and stand in the middle!'
4 Quindi domanda loro: "E' lecito di sabato far del bene o far del male? Salvare una vita o sopprimerla?". Ma essi tacevano.	4 Then he said to them, 'Is it permitted on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do evil; to save life, or to kil ?'But they said nothing.
5 Allora, volgendo su di loro lo sguardo con sdegno e rattristato per la durezza del loro cuore, disse all'uomo: "Stendi la mano!". Quello la stese e la sua mano fu risanata.	5 Then he looked angrily round at them, grieved to find them so obstinate, and said to the man, 'Stretchout your hand.' He stretched it out and his hand was restored.
6 Ma i farisei, usciti di lì, tennero subito consiglio con gli erodiani contro di lui, per vedere come farlo perire.	6 The Pharisees went out and began at once to plot with the Herodians against him, discussing how todestroy him.
7 Allora Gesù si ritirò con i suoi discepoli presso il lago e dalla Galilea una grande moltitudine lo seguì. Anche dalla Giudea,	7 Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lakeside, and great crowds from Galilee fol owed him. FromJudaea,
8 da Gerusalemme, dall'Idumea, dalla regione oltre il Giordano e da quella intorno a Tiro e Sidone, una grande moltitudine, avendo saputo quanto egli faceva, venne a lui.	8 and from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea and Transjordan and the region of Tyre and Sidon, greatnumbers who had heard of al he was doing came to him.
9 Perciò disse ai suoi discepoli di tenergli pronta una barca, a motivo della folla, per non restarne schiacciato.	9 And he asked his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, to keep him from beingcrushed.
10 Difatti ne guariva molti, per cui tutti quelli che erano afflitti da malanni si pigiavano intorno a lui per toccarlo.	10 For he had cured so many that al who were afflicted in any way were crowding forward to touch him.
11 Gli spiriti immondi, poi, quando lo vedevano, gli cadevano ai piedi e gridavano dicendo: "Tu sei il Figlio di Dio".	11 And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, would fal down before him and shout, 'You are theSon of God!'
12 Ma egli insistentemente li rimproverava, affinché non lo facessero conoscere.	12 But he warned them strongly not to make him known.
13 Poi salì sulla montagna e chiamò a sé quelli che volle; ed essi gli andarono vicino.	13 He now went up onto the mountain and summoned those he wanted. So they came to him
14 Quindi ne stabilì dodici, che chiamò apostoli, perché stessero con lui e potesse inviarli a predicare	14 and he appointed twelve; they were to be his companions and to be sent out to proclaim the message,
15 col potere di scacciare i demòni.	15 with power to drive out devils.
16 Così, dunque, egli costituì i Dodici: Simone, a cui pose il nome di Pietro,	16 And so he appointed the Twelve, Simon to whom he gave the name Peter,
17 Giacomo di Zebedeo e Giovanni, fratello di Giacomo, ai quali impose il nome di Boanèrghes, cioè "Figli del tuono";	17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom he gave the name Boanerges or'Sons of Thunder';
18 Andrea, Filippo, Bartolomeo, Matteo, Tommaso, Giacomo di Alfeo, Taddeo, Simone il Cananeo	18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon theZealot
19 e Giuda Iscariota, che poi lo tradì.	19 and Judas Iscariot, the man who was to betray him.
20 Viene a casa e si raduna di nuovo tanta folla che non potevano neppure prendere cibo.	20 He went home again, and once more such a crowd col ected that they could not even have a meal.
21 Udito ciò, i suoi vennero per impadronirsi di lui, poiché dicevano: "E' fuori di sé!".	21 When his relations heard of this, they set out to take charge of him; they said, 'He is out of his mind.'
22 Gli scribi scesi da Gerusalemme a loro volta dicevano: "E' posseduto da Beelzebùl"; e ancora: "Scaccia i demòni nel nome del principe dei demòni".	22 The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were saying, 'Beelzebul is in him,' and, 'It is throughthe prince of devils that he drives devils out.'
23 Allora egli, chiamatili presso di sé, disse loro in parabole: "Come può Satana scacciare Satana?	23 So he cal ed them to him and spoke to them in parables,
24 Se un regno è diviso in se stesso, quel regno non può sussistere.	24 'How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot last.
25 Come pure se una casa è divisa in se stessa, quella casa non potrà sussistere.	25 And if a household is divided against itself, that household can never last.
26 Ora se Satana è insorto contro se stesso e si è diviso, non può resistere, anzi è giunto alla fine.	26 Now if Satan has rebel ed against himself and is divided, he cannot last either -- it is the end of him.
27 Piuttosto, nessuno che sia penetrato nella casa di un uomo forte può depredare i suoi beni, se prima non abbia legato quel forte. Soltanto allora potrà saccheggiare la sua casa.	27 But no one can make his way into a strong man's house and plunder his property unless he has firsttied up the strong man. Only then can he plunder his house.
28 In verità vi dico che ai figli degli uomini saranno rimessi tutti i peccati, anche le bestemmie, per quanto abbiano potuto bestemmiare.	28 'In truth I tel you, al human sins will be forgiven, and al the blasphemies ever uttered;
29 Ma colui che avrà bestemmiato contro lo Spirito Santo non avrà remissione in eterno, ma sarà reo di peccato in eterno".	29 but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is guilty of an eternalsin.'
30 Quelli, infatti, dicevano: "E' posseduto da uno spirito immondo".	30 This was because they were saying, 'There is an unclean spirit in him.'
31 Giungono poi sua madre e i suoi fratelli, che, fermatisi di fuori, lo mandano a chiamare.	31 Now his mother and his brothers arrived and, standing outside, sent in a message asking for him.
32 La folla intanto gli stava seduta intorno. Gli dicono: "Ecco, tua madre e i tuoi fratelli, fuori, ti cercano".	32 A crowd was sitting round him at the time the message was passed to him, 'Look, your mother andbrothers and sisters are outside asking for you.'
33 Risponde loro: "Chi è mia madre e chi sono i miei fratelli?".	33 He replied, 'Who are my mother and my brothers?'
34 Poi, guardando in giro quelli che gli sedevano intorno, dice: "Ecco mia madre e i miei fratelli!	34 And looking at those sitting in a circle round him, he said, 'Here are my mother and my brothers.
35 Chi fa la volontà di Dio, questi è mio fratello, mia sorella e mia madre".	35 Anyone who does the wil of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother.'
