1 "Non giudicate, così non sarete giudicati.	1 "Stop judging, that you may not be judged.
2 Infatti con il giudizio con cui giudicate sarete giudicati; e con la misura con cui misurate vi sarà misurato.	2 For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.
3 Perché osservi la pagliuzza che sta nell'occhio del tuo fratello e non ti accorgi della trave che sta nel tuo?	3 Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye?
4 Oppure: come puoi dire al tuo fratello: "Lascia che tolga dal tuo occhio la pagliuzza", mentre la trave è là nel tuo occhio?	4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye?
5 Ipocrita! Togli prima la trave dal tuo occhio e allora ci vedrai bene per togliere la pagliuzza dall'occhio del tuo fratello".	5 You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye.
6 "Non date ai cani le cose sacre, né gettate davanti ai porci le vostre perle, perché non le calpestino con le loro zampe e si rivoltino a sbranarvi".	6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.
7 "Chiedete e vi sarà dato; cercate e troverete; bussate e vi sarà aperto.	7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
8 Infatti chi chiede riceve; chi cerca trova; a chi bussa sarà aperto.	8 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 C'è forse un uomo fra voi che, se suo figlio gli chiede un pane, gli darà un sasso?	9 Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread,
10 Oppure: se gli chiede un pesce, gli darà un serpente?	10 or a snake when he asks for a fish?
11 Se dunque voi, anche se cattivi, sapete dare doni buoni ai vostri figli, quanto più il Padre vostro che è nei cieli darà cose buone a quanti gliene fanno richiesta?".	11 If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.
12 "Quanto dunque desiderate che gli uomini vi facciano, fatelo anche voi ad essi. Questa è infatti la legge e i profeti".	12 "Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.
13 "Entrate per la porta stretta; poiché spaziosa è la porta e larga la via che conduce alla perdizione; e molti sono quelli che vi si incamminano.	13 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many.
14 Quanto stretta è la porta e angusta è la via che conduce alla vita! E pochi sono quelli che la trovano!".	14 How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.
15 "Guardatevi dai falsi profeti: essi vengono a voi in veste di pecore, dentro invece sono lupi rapaci.	15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.
16 Dai loro frutti li riconoscerete. Si raccolgono forse uve dalle spine o fichi dai rovi?	16 By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Così ogni albero buono dà frutti buoni; ogni albero cattivo dà frutti cattivi.	17 Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.
18 Non può un albero buono dar frutti cattivi, né un albero cattivo dar frutti buoni.	18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.
19 Ogni albero che non dà frutti buoni viene tagliato e gettato nel fuoco.	19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Perciò dai loro frutti li riconoscerete".	20 So by their fruits you will know them.
21 "Non chiunque mi dice: "Signore, Signore", entrerà nel regno dei cieli, ma chi fa la volontà del Padre mio che è nei cieli.	21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
22 Molti mi diranno in quel giorno: "Signore, Signore, non abbiamo forse profetato nel tuo nome? Nel tuo nome non abbiamo cacciato demòni e non abbiamo fatto nel tuo nome molti prodigi?".	22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?'
23 Allora dichiarerò loro: "Non vi ho mai conosciuti! Andate via da me, operatori d'iniquità".	23 Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.'
24 "Chi perciò ascolta queste mie parole e le mette in pratica, può essere paragonato a un uomo saggio che costruì la sua casa sulla roccia.	24 "Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
25 Cadde la pioggia, inondarono i fiumi e soffiarono i venti: si abbatterono su quella casa; ma non cadde. Era fondata infatti sulla roccia.	25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
26 E chi ascolta queste mie parole, ma non le mette in pratica, può essere paragonato a un uomo stolto che costruì la sua casa sull'arena.	26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
27 Cadde la pioggia, inondarono i fiumi e soffiarono i venti: si abbatterono su quella casa; e cadde, e la sua rovina fu grande!".	27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."
28 Quando Gesù ebbe finito questi discorsi, le folle rimasero stupite della sua dottrina;	28 When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching,
29 insegnava infatti come uno che ha autorità, non come i loro scribi.	29 for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
