1 Canto delle ascensioni. Di Davide. Se il Signore non fosse stato per noi lo dica Israele	1 A song of ascents. Of David. I Had not the LORD been with us, let Israel say,
2 se il Signore non fosse stato per noi quando ci assalivano gli uomini,	2 Had not the LORD been with us, when people rose against us,
3 certamente ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, quando divampò il loro furore contro di noi.	3 They would have swallowed us alive, for their fury blazed against us.
4 Certamente ci avrebbero travolti le acque, un torrente sarebbe passato su di noi.	4 The waters would have engulfed us, the torrent overwhelmed us;
5 Certamente acque impetuose sarebbero passate su di noi.	5 seething waters would have drowned us.
6 Benedetto sia il Signore, perché non ha permesso che fossimo preda dei loro denti.	6 Blessed be the LORD, who did not leave us to be torn by their fangs.
7 L'anima nostra è stata liberata, come l'uccello dal laccio del cacciatore: il laccio si è spezzato e noi siamo tornati in libertà.	7 We escaped with our lives like a bird from the fowler's snare; the snare was broken and we escaped.
8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore: egli ha fatto cieli e terra!	8 Our help is the name of the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.
