1 Allora Bildad il suchita prese la parola e disse:	1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:
2 "Fino a quando andrai a caccia di parole? Rifletti e poi parleremo!	2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.
3 Perché siamo considerati come bestie e passiamo per degli idioti ai tuoi occhi?	3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?
4 Tu che ti rodi nella tua rabbia, forse che a causa tua la terra sarà abbandonata, o che la roccia si staccherà dal suo posto?	4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?
5 Sì, la luce del malvagio si spegne e la fiamma del suo focolare non brilla più.	5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.
6 Si oscura la luce nella sua tenda e la lucerna si estingue sopra di lui.	6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.
7 I suoi passi vigorosi si accorciano, i suoi progetti lo fanno stramazzare.	7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.
8 Infatti, con i suoi piedi incappa nella rete e cammina sopra un tranello.	8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.
9 Un laccio lo afferra per il tallone, un nodo lo stringe intorno.	9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.
10 Gli è nascosta per terra una fune e una trappola sul sentiero.	10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.
11 Da ogni parte lo atterriscono gli spaventi e gli si mettono alle calcagna.	11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.
12 La sua ricchezza si muta in fame e la sfortuna gli si mette a fianco.	12 Disaster is ready at his side,
13 La sua pelle è corrosa dalla malattia; il primogenito della Morte gli consuma le membra.	13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.
14 E' strappato dalla sua tenda dove si sentiva sicuro, per essere trascinato dal Re dei terrori.	14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;
15 Il fuoco è posto nella sua tenda; nella sua dimora si sparge lo zolfo.	15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.
16 In basso le sue radici si seccheranno; sopra saranno tagliati i suoi rami.	16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.
17 Il suo ricordo è sparito dalla terra e il suo nome non si udrà più nella contrada.	17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.
18 Lo cacceranno dalla luce alle tenebre e lo bandiranno dall'universo.	18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.
19 Non avrà né figli né discendenza tra il suo popolo; non vi sarà superstite nella sua dimora.	19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.
20 Della sua fine stupirà l'Occidente e l'Oriente sarà preso dal brivido.	20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.
21 Ecco qual è la sorte dell'empio; tale è il destino di chi misconosce Dio".	21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!
