LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Or Adamo si unì a Eva, sua moglie, la quale concepì e partorì Caino, dicendo: "Ho formato un uomo con il favore del Signore".	1 The man had intercourse with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. 'I have acquireda man with the help of Yahweh,' she said.

12 Quando lavorerai il suolo, esso non ti darà più i suoi frutti; errante e vagabondo sarai per la terra".	12 When you til the ground it wil no longer yield up its strength to you. A restless wanderer you wil beon earth.'
13 Caino disse al Signore: "E' troppo grande la mia colpa, così da non meritare perdono!	13 Cain then said to Yahweh, 'My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Ecco, tu mi scacci oggi dalla faccia di questo suolo, e lungi dalla tua presenza io mi dovrò nascondere; io sarò ramingo e fuggiasco per la terra, per cui avverrà che chiunque mi troverà m'ucciderà".	14 Look, today you drive me from the surface of the earth. 15 Ma il Signore gli disse: "Non così! Chiunque ucciderà Caino sarà punito sette volte!". E il Signore pose su Caino un segno, cosicché chiunque l'avesse incontrato non l'avrebbe ucciso!	15 'Very wel , then,' Yahweh replied, 'whoever kil s Cain wil suffer a sevenfold vengeance.' So Yahwehput a mark on Cain, so that no one coming across him would kil him.
16 E Caino partì dalla presenza del Signore e abitò nel paese di Nod, di fronte a Eden.	16 Cain left Yahweh's presence and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
17 Or Caino si unì a sua moglie che concepì e partorì Enoch. 18 E a Enoch nacque Irad; e Irad generò Mecuiael e Mecuiael generò Matusael e Matusael generò Lamech.	18 Enoch fathered Irad, and Irad fathered Mehujael; Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushaelfathered Lamech.
