1 Then the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibe-ah, saying, "Is not David hiding himself on the hill of Hachilah, which is on the east of Jeshimon?"	1 Unos hombres de Zif se presentaron a Saúl, en Guibeá, para decirle: «David está escondido en la colina de Jaquilá, frente a la estepa».
2 So Saul arose and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, with three thousand chosen men of Israel, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.	2 Entonces Saúl bajó al desierto de Zif con tres mil hombres, lo más selecto de Israel, para buscar a David en el desierto.
3 And Saul encamped on the hill of Hachilah, which is beside the road on the east of Jeshimon. But David remained in the wilderness; and when he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness,	3 Saúl acampó junto al camino, en la colina de Jaquilá, que está frente a la estepa, y David estaba en el desierto,
4 David sent out spies, and learned of a certainty that Saul had come.	4 David envió unos espías y así supo que Saúl había llegado realmente.
5 Then David rose and came to the place where Saul had encamped; and David saw the place where Saul lay, with Abner the son of Ner, the commander of his army; Saul was lying within the encampment, while the army was encamped around him.	5 Luego fue al lugar donde acampaba Saúl y observó el sitio donde estaban acostados Saúl y Abner, hijo de Ner, el jefe de su ejército: Saúl estaba acostado en el centro, y la tropa acampaba alrededor de él.
6 Then David said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Joab's brother Abishai the son of Zeruiah, "Who will go down with me into the camp to Saul?" And Abishai said, "I will go down with you."	6 David preguntó a Ajimélec, el hitita, y a Abisai, hijo de Seruiá, y hermano de Joab: «¿Quién quiere bajar conmigo hasta el campamento de Saúl?». Abisai respondió: «Yo bajaré contigo».
7 So David and Abishai went to the army by night; and there lay Saul sleeping within the encampment, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the army lay around him.	7 David y Abisai llegaron de noche, mientras Saúl estaba acostado, durmiendo en el centro del campamento. Su lanza estaba clavada en tierra, a su cabecera, y Abner y la tropa estaban acostados alrededor de él.
8 Then said Abishai to David, "God has given your enemy into your hand this day; now therefore let me pin him to the earth with one stroke of the spear, and I will not strike him twice."	8 Abisai dijo a David: «Dios ha puesto a tu enemigo en tus manos. Déjame clavarlo en tierra con la lanza, de una sola vez; no tendré que repetir el golpe».
9 But David said to Abishai, "Do not destroy him; for who can put forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?"	9 Pero David replicó a Abisai: «¡No, no lo mates! ¿Quién podría atentar impunemente contra el ungido del Señor?».
10 And David said, "As the LORD lives, the LORD will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.	10 Y añadió: «¡Por la vida del Señor, ha de ser el mismo Señor el que lo hiera, sea cuando le llegue la hora de morir, o cuando baje a combatir y perezca!
11 The LORD forbid that I should put forth my hand against the LORD's anointed; but take now the spear that is at his head, and the jar of water, and let us go."	11 ¡Líbreme el Señor de atentar contra su ungido! Ahora toma la lanza que está a su cabecera y el jarro de agua, y vámonos».
12 So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul's head; and they went away. No man saw it, or knew it, nor did any awake; for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the LORD had fallen upon them.	12 David tomó la lanza y el jarro de agua que estaban a la cabecera de Saúl, y se fueron. Nadie vio ni se dio cuenta de nada, ni se despertó nadie, porque estaban todos dormidos: un profundo sueño, enviado por el Señor, había caído sobre ellos.
13 Then David went over to the other side, and stood afar off on the top of the mountain, with a great space between them;	13 Luego David cruzó al otro lado y se puso en la cima del monte, a lo lejos, de manera que había un gran espacie entre ellos.
14 and David called to the army, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, "Will you not answer, Abner?" Then Abner answered, "Who are you that calls to the king?"	14 Y empezó a gritar a la tropa y a Abner, hijo de Ner: «Abner, ¿vas a responderme?». Abner respondió: «¿Quién eres tú, que gritas al rey?».
15 And David said to Abner, "Are you not a man? Who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not kept watch over your lord the king? For one of the people came in to destroy the king your lord.	15 David dijo a Abner: «¿No eres todo un hombre? ¿Quién hay como tú en Israel? ¿Por qué entonces no has custodiado al rey, tu señor? Porque uno del pueblo ha venido a matar al rey, tu señor.
16 This thing that you have done is not good. As the LORD lives, you deserve to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, the LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the jar of water that was at his head."	16 ¡No te has comportado nada bien! ¡Por la vida del Señor, ustedes merecen la muerte, porque no han custodiado a su señor, el ungido del Señor! ¡Fíjate ahora dónde está la lanza del rey y el jarro de agua que él tenía a su cabecera!».
17 Saul recognized David's voice, and said, "Is this your voice, my son David?" And David said, "It is my voice, my lord, O king."	17 Saúl reconoció la voz de David y exclamó: «¿No es esa tu voz, David, hijo mío?». «Sí, dijo David, es mi propia voz, rey, mi señor».
18 And he said, "Why does my lord pursue after his servant? For what have I done? What guilt is on my hands?	18 Y en seguida añadió: «¿Por qué mi señor persigue así a su servidor? ¿Qué hice yo? ¿Qué hay de malo en mis manos?
19 Now therefore let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it is the LORD who has stirred you up against me, may he accept an offering; but if it is men, may they be cursed before the LORD, for they have driven me out this day that I should have no share in the heritage of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.'	19 Que mi señor, el rey, se digne escuchar ahora las palabras de su servidor: Si es el Señor el que te instiga contra mí, que le sea aceptable el aroma de una oblación. Pero si son los hombres, ¡malditos sean delante del Señor!, porque hoy me expulsan y me impiden participar de la herencia del Señor, diciéndome: «¡Ve a servir a otros dioses!».
20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of the LORD; for the king of Israel has come out to seek my life, like one who hunts a partridge in the mountains."	20 Que ahora mi sangre no caiga en tierra lejos del rostro del Señor, porque el rey de Israel se ha puesto en campaña para buscar a una pulga, como quien persigue una perdiz en las montañas».
21 Then Saul said, "I have done wrong; return, my son David, for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes this day; behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly."	21 Saúl exclamó entonces: «¡He pecado! ¡Vuelve, David, hijo mío! Ya no te haré ningún mal, porque hoy mi vida ha sido preciosa a tus ojos. ¡Sí, he sido un necio, me he equivocado por completo!
22 And David made answer, "Here is the spear, O king! Let one of the young men come over and fetch it.	22 David respondió, diciendo: «¡Aquí está la lanza del rey! Que cruce uno de los muchachos y la recoja.
23 The LORD rewards every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the LORD gave you into my hand today, and I would not put forth my hand against the LORD's anointed.	23 El Señor le pagará a cada uno según su justicia y su lealtad. Porque hoy el Señor te entregó en mis manos, pero yo no quise atentar contra el ungido del Señor.
24 Behold, as your life was precious this day in my sight, so may my life be precious in the sight of the LORD, and may he deliver me out of all tribulation."	24 Hoy yo he mostrado un gran aprecio por tu vida: ¡que el Señor muestre el mismo aprecio por la mía y me libre de todo peligro!».
25 Then Saul said to David, "Blessed be you, my son David! You will do many things and will succeed in them." So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.	25 Entonces Saúl le dijo: «¡Bendito seas, David, hijo mío! Sí, tú harás grandes cosas y seguro que triunfarás». Luego David siguió su camino, y Saúl regresó a su casa.
