1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.	1 - Vi furono però tra il popolo dei falsi profeti, come pure tra voi ci saranno dei maestri bugiardi, i quali introdurranno sètte di perdizione e rinnegheranno quel Signore che li ha riscattati, tirandosi addosso una pronta perdizione.
2 And many will follow their licentiousness, and because of them the way of truth will be reviled.	2 Molti li seguiranno nelle loro dissolutezze e per causa loro la via della verità sarà bestemmiata;
3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from of old their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.	3 essi per avarizia faranno traffico di voi con parole bugiarde; ma la loro condanna già da tempo non langue, e la loro perdizione non dorme.
4 For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of nether gloom to be kept until the judgment;	4 Poichè se Dio non perdonò agli angeli che peccarono, ma li precipitò nell'abisso e li consegnò alle catene d'inferno per essere tormentati e riservati al giudizio;
5 if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven other persons, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;	5 se non perdonò all'antico mondo, ma salvò con sette altri Noè predicatore della giustizia, mandando il diluvio sul mondo degli empi;
6 if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction and made them an example to those who were to be ungodly;	6 se condannò alla distruzione le città di Sodoma e di Gomorra, riducendole in cenere, facendole esempio a coloro che vogliono vivere empiamente;
7 and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the licentiousness of the wicked	7 e se liberò il giusto Lot vessato dalle ingiurie e dall'impuro vivere di uomini infami; -
8 (for by what that righteous man saw and heard as he lived among them, he was vexed in his righteous soul day after day with their lawless deeds),	8 poichè [Lot] era giusto di vista e di udito, mentre dimorava con gente, che ogni giorno metteva alla tortura quell'anima giusta con opere inique -
9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,	9 vuol dire che il Signore sa liberare i giusti dalla tentazione, e riservare gli empi per il giorno del giudizio;
10 and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. Bold and wilful, they are not afraid to revile the glorious ones,	10 specialmente quelli che vanno dietro alla carne nell'immonda concupiscenza e disprezzano l'autorità. Audaci, arroganti, non temono d'ingiuriare le maestà;
11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power, do not pronounce a reviling judgment upon them before the Lord.	11 mentre gli angeli, benchè siano superiori in forza e in potenza, non riportano giudizio ingiurioso contro quelli.
12 But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and killed, reviling in matters of which they are ignorant, will be destroyed in the same destruction with them,	12 Costoro invece come bestie irragionevoli, naturalmente fatte per esser prese e perire, bestemmiano le cose che ignorano; periranno così nella loro corruzione,
13 suffering wrong for their wrongdoing. They count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their dissipation, carousing with you.	13 ricevendo la mercede della loro iniquità, essi che fanno loro piacere delle delizie del giorno; macchie e vituperi, pieni di mollezza, dissoluti nei conviti che fanno con voi.
14 They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!	14 Essi, che han gli occhi pieni di adulterio e d'incessante delitto, adescano le anime vacillanti; hanno il cuore esercitato nell'avarizia, figli di maledizione.
15 Forsaking the right way they have gone astray; they have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing,	15 Abbandonata la retta via si sono sviati, seguendo la via di Balaam [figliuolo] di Bosor, il quale amò la mercede dell'iniquità;
16 but was rebuked for his own transgression; a dumb ass spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet's madness.	16 ma ebbe a scontare la sua pazzia: una muta bestia da soma, parlando voce umana frenò la stoltezza del profeta.
17 These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm; for them the nether gloom of darkness has been reserved.	17 Questi son fontane senz'acqua e nebbie sbattute dai turbini e ad essi è riserbata la caligine tenebrosa.
18 For, uttering loud boasts of folly, they entice with licentious passions of the flesh men who have barely escaped from those who live in error.	18 Mentre fanno discorsi di vanità superba, adescano per mezzo delle impure passioni della carne coloro che poco prima fuggivano da chi viveva nell'errore;
19 They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption; for whatever overcomes a man, to that he is enslaved.	19 e promettono loro la libertà, mentre essi stessi sono schiavi della corruzione; poichè da chi uno è stato vinto, di lui è anche schiavo.
20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overpowered, the last state has become worse for them than the first.	20 Se infatti dopo aver fuggite le sozzure del mondo per mezzo della conoscenza del Signore e Salvatore nostro Gesù Cristo, si lasciano ancora impigliare e vincere da esse, la loro condizione ultima diventa peggiore della prima.
21 For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.	21 Meglio infatti sarebbe stato per loro non conoscere la via della giustizia, anzichè, dopo averla conosciuta, rivolgersi indietro dal comandamento santo, che ad essi è stato dato.
22 It has happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog turns back to his own vomit, and the sow is washed only to wallow in the mire.	22 Si è perciò avverato in loro quel vero proverbio: Il cane tornò al suo vomito e la scrofa lavata [è tornata] a rivoltarsi nel fango.
