James 5

1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you.	1 Eh bien, maintenant, les riches! Pleurez, hurlez sur les malheurs qui vont vous arriver.
2 Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten.	2 Votre richesse est pourrie, vos vêtements sont rongés par les vers.
3 Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days.	3 Votre or et votre argent sont rouillés, et leur rouille témoignera contre vous: elle dévorera voschairs; c'est un feu que vous avez thésaurisé dans les derniers jours!
4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.	4 Voyez: le salaire dont vous avez frustré les ouvriers qui ont fauché vos champs, crie, et les clameursdes moissonneurs sont parvenues aux oreilles du Seigneur des Armées.
5 You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.	5 Vous avez vécu sur terre dans la mollesse et le luxe, vous vous êtes repus au jour du carnage.
6 You have condemned, you have killed the righteous man; he does not resist you.	6 Vous avez condamné, vous avez tué le juste: il ne vous résiste pas.
7 Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early and the late rain.	7 Soyez donc patients, frères, jusqu'à l'Avènement du Seigneur. Voyez le laboureur: il attendpatiemment le précieux fruit de la terre jusqu'aux pluies de la première et de l'arrière-saison.
8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.	8 Soyez patients, vous aussi; affermissez vos coeurs, car l'Avènement du Seigneur est proche.
9 Do not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the doors.	9 Ne vous plaignez pas les uns des autres, frères, afin de n'être pas jugés. Voyez: le Juge se tient auxportes!
10 As an example of suffering and patience, brethren, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.	10 Prenez, frères, pour modèles de souffrance et de patience les prophètes qui ont parlé au nom duSeigneur.
11 Behold, we call those happy who were steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.	11 Voyez: nous proclamons bienheureux ceux qui ont de la constance. Vous avez entendu parler de laconstance de Job et vous avez vu le dessein du Seigneur; car le Seigneur est miséricordieux et compatissant.
12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath, but let your yes be yes and your no be no, that you may not fall under condemnation.	12 Mais avant tout, mes frères, ne jurez ni par le ciel, ni par la terre, n'usez d'aucun autre serment.Que votre oui soit oui, que votre non soit non, afin que vous ne tombiez pas sous le jugement.
13 Is any one among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praise.	13 Quelqu'un parmi vous souffre-t-il? Qu'il prie. Quelqu'un est-il joyeux? Qu'il entonne un cantique.Quelqu'un parmi vous est-il malade?
14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;	14 Qu'il appelle les presbytres de l'Eglise et qu'ils prient sur lui après l'avoir oint d'huile au nom duSeigneur.
15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.	15 La prière de la foi sauvera le patient et le Seigneur le relèvera. S'il a commis des péchés, ils luiseront remis.
16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects.	16 Confessez donc vos péchés les uns aux autres et priez les uns pour les autres, afin que vous soyezguéris. La supplication fervente du juste a beaucoup de puissance.
17 Elijah was a man of like nature with ourselves and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.	17 Elie était un homme semblable à nous: il pria instamment qu'il n'y eût pas de pluie, et il n'y eut pasde pluie sur la terre pendant trois ans et six mois.
18 Then he prayed again and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.	18 Puis il pria de nouveau: le ciel donna de la pluie et la terre produisit son fruit.
19 My brethren, if any one among you wanders from the truth and some one brings him back,	19 Mes frères, si quelqu'un parmi vous s'égare loin de la vérité et qu'un autre l'y ramène,
20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.	20 qu'il le sache: celui qui ramène un pécheur de son égarement sauvera son âme de la mort etcouvrira une multitude de péchés.
