1 Therefore we must pay the closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.	1 Por tanto, para no extraviarnos, debemos prestar más atención a lo que hemos oído.
2 For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,	2 Pues si la palabra comunicada a través de ángeles tuvo validez, y toda transgresión y desobediencia fue justamente castigada,
3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him,	3 ¿cómo escaparemos nosotros si desdeñamos semejante salvación, que fue anunciada primero por el Señor, confirmada por los que la habían escuchado,
4 while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will.	4 a la que Dios añadió su testimonio con signos y portentos, con milagros varios, y dones del Espíritu Santo distribuidos según su beneplácito?
5 For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.	5 Dios no sometió a los ángeles el mundo venidero, del que estamos hablando;
6 It has been testified somewhere, "What is man that thou art mindful of him, or the son of man, that thou carest for him?	6 de ello dan fe estas palabras: ¿Qué es el hombre, para que te acuerdes de él, | o el ser humano, para que mires por él?
7 Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honor,	7 Lo hiciste poco inferior a los ángeles, | lo coronaste de gloria y dignidad,
8 putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.	8 todo lo sometiste bajo sus pies. En efecto, al someterle todo, nada dejó fuera de su dominio. Pero ahora no vemos todavía que le esté sometido todo.
9 But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one.	9 Al que Dios había hecho un poco inferior a los ángeles, a Jesús, lo vemos ahora coronado de gloria y honor por su pasión y muerte. Pues, por la gracia de Dios, gustó la muerte por todos.
10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering.	10 Convenía que aquel, para quien y por quien existe todo, llevara muchos hijos a la gloria perfeccionando mediante el sufrimiento al jefe que iba a guiarlos a la salvación.
11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified have all one origin. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brethren,	11 El santificador y los santificados proceden todos del mismo. Por eso no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos,
12 saying, "I will proclaim thy name to my brethren, in the midst of the congregation I will praise thee."	12 pues dice: Anunciaré tu nombre a mis hermanos, | en medio de la asamblea te alabaré.
13 And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Here am I, and the children God has given me."	13 Y también: | En él pondré yo mi confianza. | Y de nuevo: | Aquí estoy yo con los hijos que Dios me dio.
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same nature, that through death he might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil,	14 Por tanto, lo mismo que los hijos participan de la carne y de la sangre, así también participó Jesús de nuestra carne y sangre, para aniquilar mediante la muerte al señor de la muerte, es decir, al diablo,
15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong bondage.	15 y liberar a cuantos, por miedo a la muerte, pasaban la vida entera como esclavos.
16 For surely it is not with angels that he is concerned but with the descendants of Abraham.	16 Notad que tiende una mano a los hijos de Abrahán, no a los ángeles.
17 Therefore he had to be made like his brethren in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make expiation for the sins of the people.	17 Por eso tenía que parecerse en todo a sus hermanos, para ser sumo sacerdote misericordioso y fiel en lo que a Dios se refiere, y expiar los pecados del pueblo.
18 For because he himself has suffered and been tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.	18 Pues, por el hecho de haber padecido sufriendo la tentación, puede auxiliar a los que son tentados.
