1 Timothy 4

1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by giving heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,	1 E il Spirito dice manifestamente, che ne' tempi de' tiranni, alquanti si partiranno dalla fede, attendendo (e credendo) alli spiriti di errore, alli ammaestramenti de' demonii,
2 through the pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared,	2 parlando bugia con ipocrisia; e avranno contaminato la loro coscienza
3 who forbid marriage and enjoin abstinence from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.	3 vietando di pigliare mogliere, e ammaestrando le genti, che si astengano di manicare quelli cibi li quali ha creato Dio, perchè noi [li] pigliamo con referimento di grazie a lui, e specialmente li fedeli e quelli che conoscono la verità.
4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving;	4 Chè ogni creatura di Dio è buona, e nulla cosa ne dovemo rifiutare di quello che noi ricevemo con referimento di grazie.
5 for then it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.	5 Imperò ch' egli è santificato per la parola di Dio, e per la orazione (della benedizione).
6 If you put these instructions before the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the good doctrine which you have followed.	6 Queste cose avrai proporre, e ammaestrare li fratelli, e sarai buono servo di Iesù Cristo, nutricato nella parola della fede, e nella buona dottrina la qual tu hai seguitata.
7 Have nothing to do with godless and silly myths. Train yourself in godliness;	7 Abbi in odio le favole vane (e ischiva le sue parole), e opera te medesimo a pietà.
8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.	8 Chè il corporale lavoro a poco è utile; ma la pietà è (buona e) utile a tutte le cose, avendo promissione alla vita, la qual è ora e sarà di poscia.
9 The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance.	9 Fedele parola, e degna d' ogni ricevimento.
10 For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.	10 E per questo lavoriamo (e affatichiamone) e siamo maledetti (e biastemati), imperò che noi avemo speranza in Dio vivo, il quale è Salvatore di tutta la gente, e specialmente de' fedeli.
11 Command and teach these things.	11 Comanda queste cose, e ammaestra.
12 Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.	12 E niuno abbia in contento la tua adolescenza; e (studia che) sii esempio de' fedeli in detto. e in fatto e in costumi, per carità e per fede e castità.
13 Till I come, attend to the public reading of scripture, to preaching, to teaching.	13 Mentre che io vengo, studia a leggere, a conforto di dottrina.
14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophetic utterance when the council of elders laid their hands upon you.	14 Non abbandonare la grazia (di Dio) la quale è in te, (e non sii negligente mentre che tu l' hai), la qual grazia fu data a te per profezia, con imponimento della mano del presbiterio.
15 Practice these duties, devote yourself to them, so that all may see your progress.	15 Queste cose medita (e pensa), e in queste dimora, chè il tuo miglioramento sia manifesto a tutti.
16 Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; hold to that, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.	16 Attendi (e pon mente) a te medesimo, e sta nella dottrina, e dimora in queste cose; e facendo quello, te medesimo farai salvo, e coloro che [t'] intendono.
