Philippians 1

1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:	1 Paulo e Timoteo, servi di Iesù Cristo, a tutti li santi che son in Filippi, con li vescovi e con li diaconi.
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 Grazia sia a voi e pace da Dio padre nostro e dal Signore Iesù Cristo.
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,	3 Grazia riferisco al mio Dio, facendo sempre ricordanza,
4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy,	4 in tutte le mie orazioni per tutti voi; e faccio prego con allegrezza
5 thankful for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.	5 sopra vostra unità nell' evangelio di Cristo dal principio insino a qui,
6 And I am sure that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.	6 confidandomi di questo, che quelli che cominciò la buona opera in voi, la compierà insino al die di Iesù Cristo,
7 It is right for me to feel thus about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.	7 sì come questa cosa è convenevole a me di sentire per tutti voi; imperò ch' io ho voi nel mio. cuore e nelli miei legami, e nella defensione e confirmazione dell' evangelio (e desidero), che voi siate li miei compagni nel mio gaudio.
8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.	8 E Dio è mio testimonio, come io desidero che tutti voi siate nell' amore di Iesù Cristo.
9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment,	9 E questo è il mio priego, che la vostra carità abbondi maggiormente, più l' uno dì che l' altro, in (ogni) sapienza e in ogni senno;
10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,	10 che proviate le migliori cose, e siate sinceri e senza offensione nel giorno di Cristo,
11 filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.	11 e che siate ripieni di frutto della giustizia per Iesù Cristo, in lode e gloria di Dio.
12 I want you to know, brethren, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel,	12 Fratelli, voglio che voi sappiate che quelle cose che son avvenute a me (in quello che fui messo in carcere), tutto fu ad utilità dell' evangelio;
13 so that it has become known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ;	13 sì che li miei legami son fatti manifesti per Cristo in ogni corte, e per tutti gli altri luoghi;
14 and most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, and are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear.	14 sì che molti fratelli, confidandosi nel Signore per li miei legami, più grandemente ardiscono di parlare la parola di Dio senza paura.
15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will.	15 Alquanti certamente per invidia e contenzione, e alquanti predicano Cristo per buono volere.
16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel;	16 E alquanti (annunciano Cristo) con carità, (imperò che alquanti) sapiendo ch' io son posto (in pregione) per defensione dell' evangelio.
17 the former proclaim Christ out of partisanship, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.	17 [Alquanti] sì annunciano Cristo per contenzione, e non puramente, credendosi fare distringere ancor più li miei ligami.
18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in that I rejoice.	18 E che mi fa più, che la parola di Dio si predichi, se non allegrezza, o per cagione o per la verità ch' ella sia predicata?
19 Yes, and I shall rejoice. For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,	19 Chè io so questo per fermo, che questo fatto sarà a mia salute, per la vostra orazione, e per l'amministrazione del Spirito di Iesù Cristo,
20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I shall not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.	20 secondo la mia aspettazione e la mia speranza; imperò ch' io in niuna cosa mi vergognerò, anzi con vera fidanza (e ardire) farò ora, come sempre feci, che Cristo sia magnificato nel mio corpo, o per vita o per morte.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.	21 Chè il mio vivere sì è Cristo, e morire per lui si è guadagno.
22 If it is to be life in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.	22 E se il mio vivere in questa carne presente è a me frutto d' opera (e utile), non so qual mi pigli.
23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.	23 Anzi son costretto di queste due cose (di vivere e di morire); chè (voglio e) desidero di morire, e d'essere con Cristo, molto maggiormente;
24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.	24 [ma] è più necessario di dimorare ancora per voi.
25 Convinced of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,	25 E (così ancora) in questo confidandomi, avrò ancora a permanere a utilità di tutti voi; e a compimento della fede avrò gaudio,
26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again.	26 perchè la vostra allegrezza abbondi in Iesù Cristo, per il mio avvenimento che farò ancora a voi.
27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you stand firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,	27 Ma questo fate, che voi degnamente conversiate nell' evangelio di Cristo, acciò che s'io vengo a voi, ch' io vi veda in buono stato, ovver essendo da lungi, oda di voi che siate in uno spirito, e siate in uno animo, lavorando nella fede dell' evangelio,
28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear omen to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.	28 e che non vi spaventiate in niuna cosa degli avversarii; la qual è a loro cagione di perdizione, e a voi di salute; e questo sappiate, che a voi è da Dio,
29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake,	29 che non solamente voi crediate in Cristo, ma eziandio che voi sostegniate persecuzione per lui,
30 engaged in the same conflict which you saw and now hear to be mine.	30 avendo quella medesima battaglia, che voi vedeste in me, e [ora] udiste di me.
