Philippians 1

1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:	1 Paolo, e Timoteo servi di Gesù Cristo a tutti i santi in Cristo Gesù, che sono a Filippi, insieme co' vescovi, e diaconi.
2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 Grazia a voi, e pace da Dio padre nostro, e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,	3 Rendo grazie al mio Dio ogni volta ché mi ricordo di voi,
4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy,	4 (Porgendo sempre suppliche per tutti voi in ogni mia orazione con gaudio)
5 thankful for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.	5 A motivo della partecipazione vostra al vangelo di Cristo dal primo dì fino ad ora:
6 And I am sure that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.	6 Avendo pur questa speranza, che colui, il quale ha principiato in voi la buona opera, la perfezionerà fino al giorno di Cristo Gesù:
7 It is right for me to feel thus about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.	7 Conforme è giusto, ch'io pensi così di tutti voi, a motivo, che ho fisso in cuore, come voi e nelle mie catene, e nella difesa, e confermazione del vangelo siete tutti compagni del mio gaudio.
8 For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.	8 Imperocché testimone è a me Dio, in qual modo io ami tutti voi nello viscere di Gesù Cristo.
9 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment,	9 E questo io domando, che la carità vostra abbondi ancora più, e più in cognizione, e in ogni discernimento:
10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,	10 Affinchè eleggiate il meglio, affinchè siate schietti, e sicuri da inciampo fino al giorno di Cristo,
11 filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.	11 Ricolmi di frutti di giustizia per Gesù Cristo a lode e gloria di Dio.
12 I want you to know, brethren, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel,	12 Or io voglio, che voi sappiate, o fratelli, come le cose avvenutemi si sono maggiormente rivolte in profitto del vangelo:
13 so that it has become known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ;	13 Di modo, che le catene mie per Cristo sono diventate note a tutto il pretorio, e a tutti gli altri.
14 and most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, and are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear.	14 E molti de' fratelli nel Signore preso coraggio dalle mie catene, hanno avuto maggior ardimento di annunziare senza timore la parola di Dio.
15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will.	15 Alcuni veramente per invidia, e per picca, alcuni poi ancora con buona volontà predicano Cristo;
16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel;	16 Alcuni per carità sapendo, com'io sono stato collocato alla difesa del vangelo;
17 the former proclaim Christ out of partisanship, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.	17 Altri poi per picca annunziano Cristo, non sinceramente, credendo di aggiungere afflizione alle mie catene.
18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in that I rejoice.	18 Ma che? Purché in ogni modo, o per pretesto, o con lealtà Cristo sia predicato; di questo io pur godo, e ancora ne goderò.
19 Yes, and I shall rejoice. For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,	19 Imperocché io so, che questo gioverammi a salute per la vostra orazione, e pel soccorso dello Spirito di Gesù Cristo,
20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I shall not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.	20 Secondo la aspettazione, e speranza mia, che in niuna cosa sarò confuso: ma con tutta fidanza come sempre, così adesso sarà esaltato Cristo nel corpo mio sia per la morte, sia per la vita.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.	21 Imperocché il mio vivere è Cristo, ed il morire un guadagno.
22 If it is to be life in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.	22 Se poi questo vivere nella carne compie a me pel lavoro, o io qual cosa mi elegga, non so.
23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.	23 E sono messo alle strette da due lati: bramando di essere disciolta, e di esser con Cristo, che è meglio d'assai:
24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.	24 Ma il restar nella carne (è) necessario riguardo a voi.
25 Convinced of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,	25 E affidato su questo io so, che resterò, e farò mia dimora con tutti voi per vostro profitto, e per gaudio della fede:
26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again.	26 Onde più abbondanti siano le vostre congratulazioni riguardo a me in Cristo Gesù nel mio nuovo ritorno a voi.
27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you stand firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,	27 Diportatevi soltanto, come esige il vangelo di Cristo: affinchè o venga io, e vi vegga, o lontano senta parlar di voi, siate costanti in un solo spirito, in una sola anima, cooperando per la fede del vangelo:
28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear omen to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.	28 Nè per cosa alcuna siate atterriti dagli avversari; quel, che è per essi causa di perdizione, lo è di salute per voi, e questo è da Dio:
29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake,	29 Imperocché per mezzo di Cristo a voi è stato dato il dono non solo di credere in lui, ma anche di patire per lui:
30 engaged in the same conflict which you saw and now hear to be mine.	30 Sostenendo lo stesso conflitto, che vedeste in me, e ora avete udito di me.
