2 Corinthians 7

1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God.	1 Avendo dunque siffatte promesse, purifichiamoci, o dilettissimi, da ogni bruttura di carne edi spirito, conducendo a fine l'o­pera della nostra santificazionened timor di Dio.
2 Open your hearts to us; we have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one.	2 Fateci pure posto (nel vostro cuore): noi non abbiamo fatto torto a nessuno, non abbiamo ro­vinato nessuno, non abbiamo messo in mezzo nessuno.
3 I do not say this to condemn you, for I said before that you are in our hearts, to die together and to live together.	3 Non lo dico per condannarvi, perchè ve l'ho già detto, voi siete nei nostri cuori, per insieme vivere e insie­me morire.
4 I have great confidence in you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. With all our affliction, I am overjoyed.	4 Grande è la fiducia che ho in voi, molto ho da gloriarmi di voi, son ripieno di con­solazione, il cuore mi trabocca digioia in mezzo a tutte le nostre tribolazioni.
5 For even when we came into Macedonia, our bodies had no rest but we were afflicted at every turn--fighting without and fear within.	5 Certamente, anche dopo il nostro arrivo in Macedonia, la nostra carne non ha avuto requie, anzi abbiamo patito ogni sorta di tribolazione, lotte al di fuori, timori al di dentro,
6 But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus,	6 ma Coluic he consola gli umili, Dio, ci ha consolati con l'arrivo di Tito;
7 and not only by his coming but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you, as he told us of your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more.	7 e non soltanto colla venuta di lui,ma anche colla consolazione che ha ricevuto da voi; riportandoci il vostro desiderio per me, il vo­stro pianto, il vostro affetto ge­loso, ha fatto sì che io mi sono più che mai rallegrato.
8 For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it (though I did regret it), for I see that that letter grieved you, though only for a while.	8 Ora, anche se vi ho rattristati con quella lettera, non me ne pento, e se anche me ne fossi pentito, vedendo che quella (sebbene per poco tempo), certo vi rattristò,
9 As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting; for you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us.	9 ora ne godo, non già perchè siete stati rattristati, ma perchè la tristezza vi ha condotti alla penitenza; vi siete infatti rattri­stati secondo Dio da non ricevere alcun danno da parte nostra.
10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.	10 Or la tristezza secondo Dio produce una penitenza duratura per la salute, mentre la tristezza del secolo produce la morte.
11 For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves guiltless in the matter.	11 Infatti, la vostra medesima tristezza secondo Dio quanta premura, anzi, quanta difesa, quanta indignazione, quanto timore, quanto desiderio, quanto zelo, quanta severità ha prodotto in voi! Per ogni verso avete fatto vedere d'esser innocenti in quell'affare.
12 So although I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did the wrong, nor on account of the one who suffered the wrong, but in order that your zeal for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God.	12 Se dunque vi scrissi, non lo feci a motivo di colui che fece l'ingiuria, nè per riguardo a colui che la soffrì, ma per manifestarvi la sollecitudine che ho di voi
13 Therefore we are comforted. And besides our own comfort we rejoiced still more at the joy of Titus, because his mind has been set at rest by you all.	13 davanti a Dio. Per questo siamo stati consolati, ma nella nostra consolazione ci siam ancor più grandemente rallegrati per la gioia di Tito, lo spirito del quale è stato tranquillizzato da voi tutti.
14 For if I have expressed to him some pride in you, I was not put to shame; but just as everything we said to you was true, so our boasting before Titus has proved true.	14 E se mi sono un po' gloriato di voi con lui, non son rimasto confuso; ma come in tutte le cose vi abbiamo detto la verità, così anche il vanto che avevo menato di voi con Tito è risultato verità.
15 And his heart goes out all the more to you, as he remembers the obedience of you all, and the fear and trembling with which you received him.	15 Egli ancor più svisceratamente vi ama, nel ricordare l'obbedienza di voi tutti, e come l'avete ricevuto con timore e tremore.
16 I rejoice, because I have perfect confidence in you.	16 Godo di poter contar su voi in ogni cosa.
