2 Corinthians 2

1 For I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit.	1 - E ho deciso meco stesso, di non venire di nuovo da voi in tristezza;
2 For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained?	2 perchè se vi contristo, o chi vi sarà a rallegrar me se non proprio chi è stato da parte mia contristato?
3 And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all.	3 E se ho scritto come ho scritto, gli è perchè non avvenga, che, al mio venire, io abbia dolore da quelli che mi avrebbero dovuto rallegrare, persuaso come sono rispetto a tutti voi, che la mia gioia è gioia di voi tutti.
4 For I wrote you out of much affliction and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to cause you pain but to let you know the abundant love that I have for you.	4 Poichè se per la grande afflizione e angustia di cuore v'ho scritto fra molte lagrime, non lo feci perchè foste rattristati, ma perchè conosceste l'amore che ho grandissimo per voi.
5 But if any one has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure--not to put it too severely-- to you all.	5 E se qualcuno ha dato dolore, non me solo rattristò ma, almeno parzialmente per non esagerare, voi tutti.
6 For such a one this punishment by the majority is enough;	6 Or basta a quel tale questa riprensione avuta dai più,
7 so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.	7 sicchè è meglio che voi ora invece gli usiate indulgenza e lo consoliate, non abbia per avventura quel tale a essere sfinito dal troppo dolore.
8 So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him.	8 Perciò vi esorto a ravvivare il vostro amore verso di lui;
9 For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.	9 ho scritto anche per questo, per conoscervi alla prova se in tutto siete obbedienti.
10 Any one whom you forgive, I also forgive. What I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ,	10 A chi usate qualche indulgenza l'uso anch'io, poichè anch'io dove ho usato indulgenza, se in qualcosa l'ho fatto, l'ho fatto per vostro amore, nella persona di Cristo,
11 to keep Satan from gaining the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his designs.	11 per non essere sopraffatti da Satana, i cui pensieri non ignoriamo affatto.
12 When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, a door was opened for me in the Lord;	12 Quando venni a Troade per il Vangelo di Cristo, pur essendomi aperta la porta del Signore,
13 but my mind could not rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia.	13 non ebbi requie nel mio spirito per non aver trovato Tito il mio fratello; e allora, preso congedo da loro, venni in Macedonia.
14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.	14 E grazie siano rese a Dio che sempre ci fa trionfare in Cristo, e per voi manifesta in ogni luogo il profumo della sua conoscenza;
15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,	15 giacchè fragranza di Cristo siam noi, davanti a Dio, fra quelli che si salvano e fra quelli che periscono;
16 to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?	16 per questi è odore che vien da morte e conduce a morte, per quelli è odore dalla vita alla vita. E a tali cose chi è adatto?
17 For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word; but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.	17 noi non siamo come i molti i quali adulterano la parola di Dio, ma, con sincerità e come da Dio, e alla presenza di Dio, in Cristo, parliamo.
