"I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.1 If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; as I also have kept my Father's commandments, and do abide in his love.
Every branch of mine that bears no fruit, he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.2 dummy verses inserted by amos
You are already made clean by the word which I have spoken to you.3 dummy verses inserted by amos
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.4 dummy verses inserted by amos
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.5 dummy verses inserted by amos
If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned.6 dummy verses inserted by amos
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.7 dummy verses inserted by amos
By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples.8 dummy verses inserted by amos
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love.9 dummy verses inserted by amos
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.10 dummy verses inserted by amos
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled.
"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.
Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.13 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.14 You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.15 I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.16 You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
This I command you, to love one another.17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
"If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.18 If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.
If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.19 If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.20 Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.
But all this they will do to you on my account, because they do not know him who sent me.21 But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake: because they know not him who sent me.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.22 If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
He who hates me hates my Father also.23 He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.
If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.24 If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.
It is to fulfill the word that is written in their law, 'They hated me without a cause.'25 But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause.
But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me;26 But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.
and you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the beginning.27 And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.
