Deuteronomy 15

1 "At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release.	1 Tous les sept ans tu feras la rémission.
2 And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release what he has lent to his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor, his brother, because the LORD's release has been proclaimed.	2 Celui qui aura prêté de l’argent à quelqu’un effacera cette dette. Après qu’on aura publié la rémission de Yahvé, tu ne feras plus pression sur ton prochain, sur ton frère,
3 Of a foreigner you may exact it; but whatever of yours is with your brother your hand shall release.	3 tu pourras faire pression sur l’étranger, mais tu effaceras la dette de ton frère.
4 But there will be no poor among you (for the LORD will bless you in the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance to possess),	4 Ainsi il n’y aura pas de pauvre chez toi lorsque Yahvé t’aura béni, dans le pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne en héritage et en possession,
5 if only you will obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all this commandment which I command you this day.	5 à condition toutefois que tu écoutes attentivement la voix de Yahvé ton Dieu, et que tu pratiques avec soin tout ce que je t’ordonne aujourd’hui.
6 For the LORD your God will bless you, as he promised you, and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.	6 Alors Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira comme il l’a promis. Tu prêteras à de nombreuses nations et toi, tu n’auras pas à emprunter, tu domineras sur de nombreuses nations mais elles, ne domineront pas sur toi.
7 "If there is among you a poor man, one of your brethren, in any of your towns within your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother,	7 Si, dans l’une des villes du pays que Yahvé ton Dieu te donne, tu rencontres un pauvre parmi tes frères, tu ne fermeras ni ton cœur, ni ta main devant ce frère qui est dans la pauvreté.
8 but you shall open your hand to him, and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be.	8 Tu lui ouvriras ta main et tu lui prêteras ce dont il a besoin, ce qui lui manque.
9 Take heed lest there be a base thought in your heart, and you say, 'The seventh year, the year of release is near,' and your eye be hostile to your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he cry to the LORD against you, and it be sin in you.	9 Ne fais pas dans ta tête ce petit calcul: “Voici que la septième année, l’année de la rémission approche”; ne regarde pas méchamment ce frère qui est pauvre, ne lui refuse pas ce dont il a besoin de peur qu’il ne crie vers Yahvé contre toi et que toi, tu ne sois chargé d’un péché.
10 You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him; because for this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.	10 Tu dois lui donner, et lui donner sans regret. Alors Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tous tes travaux et dans tout ce que tu entreprendras, à cause de ce que tu as fait.
11 For the poor will never cease out of the land; therefore I command you, You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in the land.	11 Il ne manquera jamais de pauvres au milieu du pays, c’est pourquoi je te donne ce commandement: Tu ouvriras ta main à ton frère, à celui qui est démuni, au pauvre qui est dans le pays.
12 "If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.	12 Si l’un de tes frères hébreux, homme ou femme, se vend à toi, il te servira durant six années, mais la septième année tu le renverras libre de chez toi.
13 And when you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty-handed;	13 Tu le renverras libre, mais non pas les mains vides.
14 you shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing floor, and out of your wine press; as the LORD your God has blessed you, you shall give to him.	14 Tu lui donneras en cadeau quelque chose de ton troupeau, de ton grenier et de ton pressoir: tu lui donneras une part des biens dont Yahvé ton Dieu t’aura béni.
15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this today.	15 Tu te souviendras que tu as été esclave en Égypte et que Yahvé ton Dieu t’a racheté; c’est pourquoi aujourd’hui je te donne ce commandement.
16 But if he says to you, 'I will not go out from you,' because he loves you and your household, since he fares well with you,	16 Mais peut-être ton esclave te dira: “Je ne veux pas te quitter”, parce qu’il t’aime, toi et ta famille, et qu’il se trouve bien chez toi,
17 then you shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear into the door, and he shall be your bondman for ever. And to your bondwoman you shall do likewise.	17 alors tu prendras un poinçon et tu lui perceras l’oreille contre le montant de ta porte: il sera pour toujours ton serviteur. Tu feras la même chose s’il s’agit d’une servante.
18 It shall not seem hard to you, when you let him go free from you; for at half the cost of a hired servant he has served you six years. So the LORD your God will bless you in all that you do.	18 N’aie pas peur de le renvoyer libre de chez toi, pense que durant les six ans qu’il t’a servi il t’a économisé deux fois le salaire d’un ouvrier, et puis Yahvé ton Dieu te bénira dans tout ce que tu feras.
19 "All the firstling males that are born of your herd and flock you shall consecrate to the LORD your God; you shall do no work with the firstling of your herd, nor shear the firstling of your flock.	19 Tu consacreras à Yahvé tout premier-né qui naîtra dans ton gros et dans ton petit bétail. Tu ne feras pas travailler le premier-né de ta vache et tu ne tondras pas le premier-né de tes brebis.
20 You shall eat it, you and your household, before the LORD your God year by year at the place which the LORD will choose.	20 Mais chaque année, toi et ta famille, tu les mangeras devant Yahvé ton Dieu, dans le lieu qu’il aura choisi.
21 But if it has any blemish, if it is lame or blind, or has any serious blemish whatever, you shall not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.	21 Cependant, si ce premier-né est infirme, boiteux ou aveugle, ou s’il a une tare quelconque, tu ne l’offriras pas en sacrifice à Yahvé ton Dieu.
22 You shall eat it within your towns; the unclean and the clean alike may eat it, as though it were a gazelle or a hart.	22 Tu le mangeras chez toi; qu’on soit pur ou impur on en mangera comme on mange de la gazelle ou du cerf.
23 Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.	23 Seulement tu ne mangeras pas son sang, tu le verseras à terre comme l’eau.
