1 Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him,	1 Anschließend nahm er den Weg durch Städte und Dörfer, predigte und verkündete das Evangelium vom Reiche Gottes, und die Zwölf waren bei ihm
2 and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,	2 sowie einige Frauen, die von bösen Geistern und von Krankheiten geheilt worden waren: Maria, genannt Magdalena, von der sieben Dämonen ausgefahren waren,
3 and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.	3 und Johanna, die Frau des Chuza, eines Verwalters des Herodes, und Susanna und viele andere, die ihnen dienten mit ihrem Vermögen.
4 And when a great crowd came together and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable:	4 Als aber viel VoIk zusammenkam und ihm aus den Städten die Leute zuströmten, sprach er im Gleichnis:
5 "A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell along the path, and was trodden under foot, and the birds of the air devoured it.	5 "Ein Sämann ging aus, seinen Samen zu säen, und als er säte, fiel einiges auf den Weg und wurde zertreten, und die Vögel des Himmels fraßen es auf.
6 And some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.	6 Anderes fiel auf das Gestein, und als es aufging, verdorrte es, weil es keine Feuchtigkeit hatte.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns grew with it and choked it.	7 Anderes fiel mitten unter die Dornen, und die Dornen wuchsen mit auf und erstickten es.
8 And some fell into good soil and grew, and yielded a hundredfold." As he said this, he called out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."	8 Anderes aber fiel auf gutes Erdreich, ging auf und gab hundertfältige Frucht." Als er dies gesagt hatte, rief er: "Wer Ohren hat zu hören, der höre!"
9 And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant,	9 Da fragten ihn seine Jünger, was dieses Gleichnis bedeute.
10 he said, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God; but for others they are in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.	10 Er sprach [zu ihnen]: "Euch ist es gegeben, die Geheimnisse des Gottesreiches zu verstehen; den übrigen aber werden sie in Gleichnissen mitgeteilt, so daß sie "sehend nicht sehen und hörend nicht verstehen" (Is 6,9).
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.	11 Dies aber bedeutet das Gleichnis: Der Same ist das Wort Gottes.
12 The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved.	12 Die auf dem Weg sind jene, die hören; dann kommt der Teufel und nimmt das Wort weg aus ihrem Herzen, so daß sie nicht glauben und gerettet werden.
13 And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.	13 Die auf dem Gestein sind jene, die das Wort mit Freude annehmen, wenn sie es hören; aber sie haben keine Wurzel; für den Augenblick glauben sie, doch in der Stunde der Versuchung fallen sie ab.
14 And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.	14 Was unter die Dornen fiel, das sind jene, die hören, aber dann hingehen und von den Sorgen, dem Reichtum und den Genüssen des Lebens erstickt werden und nicht zur Reife kommen.
15 And as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience.	15 Das auf dem guten Erdreich, das sind jene, die das Wort mit einem edlen und guten Herzen hören und bewahren und Frucht bringen in Beharrlichkeit.
16 "No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a vessel, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, that those who enter may see the light.	16 Niemand, der eine Lampe anzündet, deckt sie mit einem Gefäß zu oder stellt sie unter das Bett; sondern er stellt sie auf den Leuchter, damit die Eintretenden das Licht sehen.
17 For nothing is hid that shall not be made manifest, nor anything secret that shall not be known and come to light.	17 Denn nichts ist verborgen, das nicht offenbar wird; und nichts ist geheim, das nicht bekannt werden und an den Tag kommen wird.
18 Take heed then how you hear; for to him who has will more be given, and from him who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away."	18 Gebt also acht, wie ihr hört! Denn wer hat, dem wird gegeben; wer aber nicht hat, dem wird auch das, was er zu haben meint, weggenommen werden."
19 Then his mother and his brethren came to him, but they could not reach him for the crowd.	19 Es kamen zu ihm seine Mutter und seine Brüder; sie konnten aber nicht hinkommen zu ihm wegen der Menge des Volkes.
20 And he was told, "Your mother and your brethren are standing outside, desiring to see you."	20 Da wurde ihm gemeldet: "Deine Mutter und deine Brüder stehen draußen und wollen dich sehen."
21 But he said to them, "My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it."	21 Er aber antwortete ihnen: "Meine Mutter und meine Brüder sind jene, die das Wort Gottes hören und tun."
22 One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, "Let us go across to the other side of the lake." So they set out,	22 Es begab sich eines Tages, da stieg er mit seinen Jüngern in ein Schiff und sprach zu ihnen: "Laßt uns hinüberfahren ans andere Ufer des Sees." Und sie fuhren ab.
23 and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a storm of wind came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in danger.	23 Wähend sie dahinfuhren, schlief er ein. Da brach ein Sturmwind auf den See herab, das Schiff wurde überflutet, und sie gerieten in Gefahr.
24 And they went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; and they ceased, and there was a calm.	24 Sie traten hinzu, weckten ihn auf und riefen: "Meister, Meister, wir gehen zugrunde!" Er aber stand auf, gebot dem Wind und dem tobenden Wasser, und sie gaben Ruhe, und es war Stille.
25 He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that he commands even wind and water, and they obey him?"	25 Dann sagte er zu ihnen: "Wo ist euer Glaube?" Sie aber sprachen voll Furcht und Verwunderung zueinander: "Wer ist wohl der, daß er sogar den Winden und dem Wasser gebietet, und sie ihm gehorchen?"
26 Then they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.	26 Sie fuhren weiter, auf das Gebiet der Gerasener zu, das gegenüber von Galiläa liegt.
27 And as he stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons; for a long time he had worn no clothes, and he lived not in a house but among the tombs.	27 Als er ans Land stieg, lief ihm ein Mann aus der Stadt entgegen, der von Dämonen besessen war und seit langem kein Kleid mehr anzog, auch in keinem Hause blieb, sondern in den Grabkammern.
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, and said with a loud voice, "What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beseech you, do not torment me."	28 Als er Jesus sah, schrie er auf, warf sich vor ihm nieder und rief mit lauter Stimme: "Was willst du von mir, Jesus, du Sohn des höchsten Gottes? Ich flehe dich an, quäle mich nicht!"
29 For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him; he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters, but he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the desert.)	29 Er befahl nämlich dem unreinen Geist, auszufahren aus dem Menschen; denn schon oftmals hatte er ihn gepackt, und war er auch in Ketten und Fußfesseln gebunden und verwahrt, er zerriß die Fesseln und wurde vom Dämon in die Wüste gejagt.
30 Jesus then asked him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Legion"; for many demons had entered him.	30 Jesus fragte ihn: "Wie heißt du?" Er sagte: "Legion"; denn es waren viele Dämonen in ihn gefahren.
31 And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss.	31 Sie baten ihn, er möge ihnen nicht befehlen, in den Abgrund zu fahren.
32 Now a large herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them leave.	32 Es war aber dort am Berg eine Herde von vielen Schweinen auf der Weide. Da baten sie ihn, er möge ihnen erlauben, in diese hineinzufahren. Er gestattete es ihnen.
33 Then the demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.	33 Da fuhren die Dämonen aus von dem Menschen und fuhren in die Schweine, und die Herde stürzte sich den Abhang hinunter in den See und ertrank.
34 When the herdsmen saw what had happened, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.	34 Als die Hirten sahen, was geschah, flohen sie und erzählten es in der Stadt und auf den Gehöften.
35 Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.	35 Da gingen sie hinaus, um zu sehen, was geschehen war, und sie kamen zu Jesus und fanden den Menschen, von dem die Dämonen ausgefahren waren, bekleidet und klaren Sinnes zu Jesu Füßen sitzend, und sie fürchteten sich.
36 And those who had seen it told them how he who had been possessed with demons was healed.	36 Die Augenzeugen aber erzählten ihnen, wie der Besessene Heilung fand.
37 Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them; for they were seized with great fear; so he got into the boat and returned.	37 Da bat ihn die ganze Bevölkerung aus dem umliegenden Gebiet der Gerasener, er möge fortziehen von ihnen; denn sie wurden von großer Furcht ergriffen. Er stieg in das Schiff und fuhr zurück.
38 The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him; but he sent him away, saying,	38 Der Mann aber, von dem die Dämonen ausgefahren waren, bat ihn, bei ihm bleiben zu dürfen; doch er entließ ihn und sprach:
39 "Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you." And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.	39 "Geh nach Hause und berichte, was Gott Großes an dir getan hat!" Da ging er hin und verkündete in der ganzen Stadt, was Jesus an ihm getan hatte.
40 Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him.	40 Als Jesus zurückkam, empfing ihn das Volk; denn alle hatten auf ihn gewartet.
41 And there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue; and falling at Jesus' feet he besought him to come to his house,	41 Und siehe, da kam ein Mann, namens Jairus, der Vorsteher der Synagoge war, fiel Jesus zu Füßen und flehte ihn an, in sein Haus zu kommen;
42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As he went, the people pressed round him.	42 denn er hatte eine einzige Tochter von etwa zwölf Jahren, und diese lag im Sterben. Auf dem Wege dorthin umdrängte ihn die Menge des Volkes.
43 And a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed by anyone	43 Und eine Frau, die seit zwölf Jahren an Blutfluß litt, all ihr Vermögen an die Ärzte gegeben und von niemand hatte Heilung erfahren können,
44 came up behind him, and touched the fringe of his garment; and immediately her flow of blood ceased.	44 trat von rückwärts hinzu und berührte den Saum seines Kleides, und auf der Stelle kam ihre Blutung zum Stillstand.
45 And Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" When all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the multitudes surround you and press upon you!"	45 Jesus aber sprach: "Wer ist es, der mich berührte?" Da alle es verneinten, sagten Petrus und die bei ihm: "Meister, die Leute drängen und drücken dich [, und du sagst: Wer ist es, der mich berührte?]."
46 But Jesus said, "Some one touched me; for I perceive that power has gone forth from me."	46 Jesus entgegnete: "Es berührte mich jemand; denn ich spürte eine Kraft von mir ausgehen."
47 And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.	47 Als die Frau sah, daß es nicht verborgen blieb, kam sie zitternd, fiel vor ihm nieder und berichtete vor allem Volk, aus welchem Grund sie ihn angerührt habe und wie sie auf der Stelle geheilt worden sei.
48 And he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace."	48 Er aber sprach zu ihr: "Tochter, dein Glaube hat dir geholfen. Gehe hin in Frieden!"
49 While he was still speaking, a man from the ruler's house came and said, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more."	49 Während er noch redete, kam jemand vom Synagogenvorsteher und sagte: "Deine Tochter ist gestorben, bemühe den Meister nicht weiter!"
50 But Jesus on hearing this answered him, "Do not fear; only believe, and she shall be well."	50 Jesus aber, der es hörte, wandte sich an ihn: "Sei ohne Furcht, glaube nur, und sie wird gerettet!"
51 And when he came to the house, he permitted no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child.	51 Als er an das Haus kam, ließ er niemand mit sich hinein, außer Petrus, Johannes und Jakobus und dem Vater und der Mutter des Mädchens.
52 And all were weeping and bewailing her; but he said, "Do not weep; for she is not dead but sleeping."	52 Alle weinten und klagten um sie. Er aber sprach: "Weint nicht, denn sie ist nicht gestorben, sondern sie schläft!"
53 And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.	53 Da verlachten sie ihn, weil sie doch wußten, daß sie gestorben war.
54 But taking her by the hand he called, saying, "Child, arise."	54 Er nahm sie bei der Hand und rief: "Mädchen, steh auf!"
55 And her spirit returned, and she got up at once; and he directed that something should be given her to eat.	55 Da kehrte ihr Geist zurück, und sie erhob sich auf der Stelle. Und er befahl, daß man ihr zu essen gebe.
56 And her parents were amazed; but he charged them to tell no one what had happened.	56 Ihre Eltern waren vor Staunen außer sich; er aber gebot ihnen, niemand zu sagen, was geschehen war.
