1 One sabbath when he went to dine at the house of a ruler who belonged to the Pharisees, they were watching him.	1 Entrando Jesus, um sábado, em casa de um dos principais fariseus, a tomar a sua refeição, eles o estavam observando.
2 And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy.	2 Encontrava-se diante dele um homem hidrópico.
3 And Jesus spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath, or not?"	3 Jesus, dirigindo a palavra aos doutores da lei e aos fariseus, disse-lhes : "E’ licito ou não fazer curas ao sábado?"
4 But they were silent. Then he took him and healed him, and let him go.	4 Eles ficaram calados. Então Jesus, pegando no homem pela mão, curou-o e mandou-o embora.
5 And he said to them, "Which of you, having an ass or an ox that has fallen into a well, will not immediately pull him out on a sabbath day?"	5 Dirigindo-se depois a eles, disse: "Quem de entre vós que, se o seu filho ou o seu boi cair num poço, o não tirará logo ainda que seja em dia de sábado?"
6 And they could not reply to this.	6 Eles não sabiam que replicar a isto.
7 Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he marked how they chose the places of honor, saying to them,	7 Disse também uma parábola, observando como os convidados escolhiam os primeiros lugares à mesa:
8 "When you are invited by any one to a marriage feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest a more eminent man than you be invited by him;	8 "Quando fores convidado para bodas, não te ponhas no primeiro lugar, porque pode ser que outra pessoa de mais consideração do que tu tenha sido convidada pelo dono da casa,
9 and he who invited you both will come and say to you, 'Give place to this man,' and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place.	9 e que, vindo este que te convidou a ti e a ele, te diga: Cede o lugar a este; e tu envergonhado vás ocupar o último lugar.
10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, 'Friend, go up higher'; then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you.	10 Mas, quando fores convidado, vai tomar o último lugar, para que, quando vier o que te convidou, te diga : Amigo, vem mais para cima. Então terás com isto glória na presença dos que estiverem juntamente à mesa;
11 For every one who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."	11 porque todo o que se exalta, será humilhado, e o que se humilha, será exaltado."
12 He said also to the man who had invited him, "When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your kinsmen or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return, and you be repaid.	12 Dizia mais ao que o tinha convidado : "Quando deres algum jantar ou ceia, não convides os teus amigos, nem os teus irmãos, nem os parentes, nem os vizinhos ricos; para que não aconteça que também eles te convidem, e te paguem com isso.
13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind,	13 Mas, quando deres algum banquete, convida pobres, aleijados, coxos, cegos;
14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just."	14 e serás bem-aventurado, porque esses não têm com que retribuir; mas ser-te-á isso retribuído na ressurreição dos justos."
15 When one of those who sat at table with him heard this, he said to him, "Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!"	15 Tendo ouvido estas coisas um dos convivas disse-lhe: "Bem-aventurado o que participar do banquete no reino de Deus."
16 But he said to him, "A man once gave a great banquet, and invited many;	16 Jesus respondeu-lhe: "Um homem fez uma grande ceia, para a qual convidou muitos,
17 and at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, 'Come; for all is now ready.'	17 À hora da ceia, mandou um seu servo dizer aos convidados : Vinde, porque tudo está preparado.
18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it; I pray you, have me excused.'	18 Mas todos à uma começaram a escusar-se. O primeiro disse-lhe: Comprei um campo, e é-me necessário ir vê-lo; rogo-te que me dês por escusado.
19 And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them; I pray you, have me excused.'	19 Outro disse: Comprei cinco juntas de bois, e vou experimentá-los; rogo-te que me dês por escusado.
20 And another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'	20 Disse também outro : Casei-me, por isso não posso ir.
21 So the servant came and reported this to his master. Then the householder in anger said to his servant, 'Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and maimed and blind and lame.'	21 Voltando o servo, referiu estas coisas ao seu senhor. Então, irado o pai de família, disse ao sen servo: Vai já pelas praças e pelas ruas da cidade; traz cá os pobres, os aleijados, os cegos e os coxos.
22 And the servant said, 'Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.'	22 Disse o servo: Senhor, está feito como mandaste, e ainda há lugar.
23 And the master said to the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.	23 Disse o senhor ao servo: Vai pelos caminhos e ao longo dos cercados ; e força-os a vir, para que se encha a minha casa.
24 For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.'"	24 Porque eu vos digo que nenhum daqueles que foram convidados provará a minha ceia."
25 Now great multitudes accompanied him; and he turned and said to them,	25 Ia com ele grande multidão de povo. Jesus, voltando-se, disse-lhes:
26 "If any one comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.	26 "Se algum vem a mim, e não aborrece seu pai, sua mãe, sua mulher, seus filhos, seus irmãos, suas irmãs, e até a sua vida, não pode ser meu discípulo.
27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.	27 O que não leva a sua cruz e não me segue, não pode ser meu discípulo.
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?	28 Porque qual de vós, querendo edificar uma torre, não se assenta primeiro para calcular a despesa e ver se tem com que acabar?
29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him,	29 Para que, depois de ter assentado o fundamento e não a poder terminar, todos os que virem, não comecem a fazer zombaria dele, dizendo:
30 saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to finish.'	30 Este homem principiou a edificar, e não pôde terminar.
31 Or what king, going to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?	31 Ou qual é o rei que, estando para entrar em guerra contra outro rei, não se assenta primeiro a considerar se com dez mil homens pode ir encontrar-se com o que traz contra ele vinte mil?
32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an embassy and asks terms of peace.	32 Doutra maneira, quando o outro está ainda longe, enviando embaixadores, pede-Ihe paz.
33 So therefore, whoever of you does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple."	33 Assim, pois, qualquer de vós que não renuncia tudo o que possui, não pode ser meu discípulo.
34 "Salt is good; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored?	34 O sal é bom ; porém, se o sal perder a força, com que se há-de temperar?
35 It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill; men throw it away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear."	35 Não é bom nem para a terra, nem para estrume; mas será lançado fora. O que tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça."
