Zechariah 8

1 And the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,	1 - E la parola del Signore degli eserciti fu comunicata dicendo:
2 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.	2 «Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Io sono stato sempre geloso di Sion, sono stato geloso fino ad incollerire fortemente. -
3 Thus says the LORD: I will return to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts, the holy mountain.	3 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Io sono tornato a Sion e abiterò in mezzo a Gerusalemme, e Gerusalemme sarà chiamata città della verità e il monte del Signore degli eserciti, Monte santo. -
4 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand for very age.	4 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Vi saranno ancora nelle piazze di Gerusalemme dei vecchi e delle vecchie e degli uomini che porteranno il bastone per la molta età.
5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.	5 E le piazze della città saranno gremite di bambini e di fanciulle intenti a divertirsi. -
6 Thus says the LORD of hosts: If it is marvelous in the sight of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in my sight, says the LORD of hosts?	6 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Se questo è difficile agli occhi dei superstiti di questo popolo pei giorni avvenire, sarà forse difficile agli occhi miei? - dice il Signore degli eserciti.
7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country;	7 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Ecco che io trarrò salvo il mio popolo dalla terra d'Oriente, e dalla terra dove cala il sole.
8 and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness."	8 Li ricondurrò, e abiteranno in mezzo a Gerusalemme; essi saranno il popolo mio ed io sarò il loro Dio, nella verità e nella giustizia. -
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Let your hands be strong, you who in these days have been hearing these words from the mouth of the prophets, since the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.	9 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Si rafforzino le vostre mani, voi che in questi giorni ascoltate queste parole dalla bocca dei profeti che vi hanno parlato, nel giorno in cui furono gettati i fondamenti della casa del Signore degli eserciti, affinchè il tempio fosse riedificato.
10 For before those days there was no wage for man or any wage for beast, neither was there any safety from the foe for him who went out or came in; for I set every man against his fellow.	10 Giacchè prima di questi giorni non c'era mercede per gli uomini, non c'era mercede per i giumenti e quelli che andavano e venivano non erano sicuri dalle molestie; io aveva lasciato che tutti gli uomini si scagliassero gli uni contro gli altri.
11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as in the former days, says the LORD of hosts.	11 Ora invece non agirò più come per il passato coi superstiti di questo popolo, dice il Signore degli eserciti;
12 For there shall be a sowing of peace; the vine shall yield its fruit, and the ground shall give its increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.	12 ma la sementa sarà prospera, la vigna darà il suo frutto, e la terra il suo prodotto, e i cieli la loro rugiada; e farò che le reliquie di questo popolo abbiano tutte queste cose.
13 And as you have been a byword of cursing among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you and you shall be a blessing. Fear not, but let your hands be strong."	13 E avverrà che siccome voi, o Casa di Giuda, o casa d' Israele, eravate in maledizione fra le genti, così vi salverò e sarete in benedizione: non vogliate temere, rafforzate le vostre mani! -
14 For thus says the LORD of hosts: "As I purposed to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, and I did not relent, says the LORD of hosts,	14 Perchè il Signore degli eserciti dice così: - Come io pensai di flagellarvi allorchè i vostri padri provocarono la mia ira, dice il Signore,
15 so again have I purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah; fear not.	15 e non ho usato misericordia: così in questi giorni ho rivolto il mio pensiero a beneficare la casa di Giuda e Gerusalemme; non vogliate temere!
16 These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another, render in your gates judgments that are true and make for peace,	16 E voi farete questo che vi dico: ciascuno di voi parli la verità col suo prossimo; giudicate con verità e con intendimenti di pace alle vostre porte;
17 do not devise evil in your hearts against one another, and love no false oath, for all these things I hate, says the LORD."	17 e che nessuno macchini del male in cuor suo contro il suo amico, e non amate il giuramento falso; perchè tutte queste cose io odio, - dice il Signore.
18 And the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,	18 E la parola del Signore degli eserciti mi fu comunicata, dicendo:
19 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah seasons of joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love truth and peace.	19 - Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "Il digiuno del quarto e il digiuno del quinto e il digiuno del settimo e il digiuno del decimo mese, saranno per la casa di Giuda giorni di gaudio e di letizia, e di feste solenni: solo che voi amiate la verità e la pace!".
20 "Thus says the LORD of hosts: Peoples shall yet come, even the inhabitants of many cities;	20 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "Verranno ancora popoli e abitanti di molte città;
21 the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, 'Let us go at once to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts; I am going.'	21 e andranno gli abitanti uno dall'altro dicendo: Andiamo a far suppliche alla presenza del Signore! Anch' io vengo!
22 Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of the LORD.	22 E verranno molti popoli e nazioni potenti a cercare il Signore in Gerusalemme, e a fare orazione al suo cospetto".
23 Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, 'Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"	23 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: " Saranno tempi quelli in cui dieci uomini di tutte le lingue straniere, afferreranno per la falda delle vesti un Giudeo, e lo afferreranno dicendogli: Vogliamo venire con voi, perchè abbiamo inteso che Dio è con voi!".
