Zechariah 11

1 Open your doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars!	1 - Apri, o Libano, le tue porte e consumi il fuoco i tuoi cedri!
2 Wail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen, for the glorious trees are ruined! Wail, oaks of Bashan, for the thick forest has been felled!	2 Ululate, o abeti, perchè il cedro è caduto! perchè quelle magnifiche piante sono state abbattute! Ululate, o querce di Basan; perchè il bosco inaccessibile è stato tagliato!
3 Hark, the wail of the shepherds, for their glory is despoiled! Hark, the roar of the lions, for the jungle of the Jordan is laid waste!	3 Voci stridenti di pastori; perchè la loro magnificenza è stata devastata! Voci ruggenti di leoni, perchè è distrutto l'orgoglio del Giordano!
4 Thus said the LORD my God: "Become shepherd of the flock doomed to slaughter.	4 Così dice il Signore Dio mio: - Pasci queste pecore da macello.
5 Those who buy them slay them and go unpunished; and those who sell them say, 'Blessed be the LORD, I have become rich'; and their own shepherds have no pity on them.	5 Quelli che le possedevano, le scannavano senza pietà e le vendevano dicendo: " Benedetto il Signore, ci siamo arricchiti! " e i loro pastori non avevano compassione alcuna.
6 For I will no longer have pity on the inhabitants of this land, says the LORD. Lo, I will cause men to fall each into the hand of his shepherd, and each into the hand of his king; and they shall crush the earth, and I will deliver none from their hand."	6 Anch' io non avrò compassione per gli abitanti di questa terra, dice il Signore: ecco che io lascerò gli uomini in balìa gli uni degli altri e in potere del loro re, e percoteranno la terra e non li strapperò alle loro proprie mani. -
7 So I became the shepherd of the flock doomed to be slain for those who trafficked in the sheep. And I took two staffs; one I named Grace, the other I named Union. And I tended the sheep.	7 Per questo io pascolerò le pecore da macello, o poveri del gregge! E presi due verghe; una la chiamai Gentilezza, e l'altra la chiamai Legame, e poi mi misi a pascolar il gregge.
8 In one month I destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me.	8 E ricisi tre pastori in un mese: e io mi disanimai per essi e i loro animi pure si alienarono da me.
9 So I said, "I will not be your shepherd. What is to die, let it die; what is to be destroyed, let it be destroyed; and let those that are left devour the flesh of one another."	9 E dissi: - Io non vi pascolerò più: chi muore, muoia; chi ha da essere distrutto, sia distrutto; e quelli che restano si divorino tra di loro le carni a vicenda. -
10 And I took my staff Grace, and I broke it, annulling the covenant which I had made with all the peoples.	10 E presi la mia verga chiamata Gentilezza e la spezzai, rompendo così il patto fermato da me con tutti i popoli.
11 So it was annulled on that day, and the traffickers in the sheep, who were watching me, knew that it was the word of the LORD.	11 E il patto in quel giorno fu rotto; e i poveri del gregge, che mi rispettano, riconobbero che era la parola del Signore.
12 Then I said to them, "If it seems right to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them." And they weighed out as my wages thirty shekels of silver.	12 E dissi a coloro: - Se ancor vi piace, datemi la mia mercede; e se no, lasciamo stare. - Ed essi mi diedero la somma di trenta monete di argento.
13 Then the LORD said to me, "Cast it into the treasury" --the lordly price at which I was paid off by them. So I took the thirty shekels of silver and cast them into the treasury in the house of the LORD.	13 E il Signore mi disse: - Gettala al vasaio, questa vistosa somma per cui sono stato valutato da essi! - E io presi le trenta monete d'argento e le gettai nella casa del Signore al vasaio.
14 Then I broke my second staff Union, annulling the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.	14 E ruppi la mia seconda verga chiamata Legame, sciogliendo ogni vincolo di fratellanza tra Giuda e tra Israele.
15 Then the LORD said to me, "Take once more the implements of a worthless shepherd.	15 E il Signore mi disse: - Prendi ancora gli arnesi di pastore stolto.
16 For lo, I am raising up in the land a shepherd who does not care for the perishing, or seek the wandering, or heal the maimed, or nourish the sound, but devours the flesh of the fat ones, tearing off even their hoofs.	16 Perchè ecco, che io farò sorgere in questa terra un pastore che non terrà conto delle pecore abbandonate; non cercherà le sbandate; non curerà le ammalate; e quelle che stanno bene non le nutrirà, e mangerà la carne delle più grasse e ne dismembrerà fino le unghie.
17 Woe to my worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock! May the sword smite his arm and his right eye! Let his arm be wholly withered, his right eye utterly blinded!"	17 Guai al pastore da nulla, che abbandona il gregge! La spada verrà sopra il suo braccio e sopra il suo occhio destro: il suo braccio inaridirà e il suo occhio si oscurerà e diventerà cieco! -».
