1 The heads of the fathers' houses of the families of the sons of Gilead the son of Machir, son of Manasseh, of the fathers' houses of the sons of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the heads of the fathers' houses of the people of Israel;	1 Los jefes de familia del clan de los descendientes de Galaad –hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, uno de los clanes de los descendientes de José– se presentaron delante de Moisés y de los principales jefes de familia de Israel
2 they said, "The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for inheritance by lot to the people of Israel; and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.	2 y les dijeron: El Señor mandó a Moisés que repartiera el país entre los israelitas mediante un sorteo, y Moisés también recibió del Señor la orden de entregar a sus hijas la herencia de nuestro hermano Selofjad.
3 But if they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the people of Israel then their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they belong; so it will be taken away from the lot of our inheritance.	3 Ahora bien, si ellas se casan con un miembro de otra tribu de Israel, su parte será sustraída de la herencia de la tribu a la que van a pertenecer. De esa manera, disminuirá la herencia que nos ha tocado en suerte.
4 And when the jubilee of the people of Israel comes, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they belong; and their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers."	4 Y cuando los israelitas celebren el año del jubileo, la herencia de ellas se sumará a la de la otra tribu y será sustraída del patrimonio de nuestra tribu.
5 And Moses commanded the people of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, "The tribe of the sons of Joseph is right.	5 Entonces Moisés, por orden del Señor, dio estas instrucciones a los israelitas: La tribu de los descendientes de José tiene razón.
6 This is what the LORD commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, 'Let them marry whom they think best; only, they shall marry within the family of the tribe of their father.	6 Esto es lo que el Señor ha ordenado respecto de las hijas de Selofjad: Ellas pueden casarse con quien les parezca mejor, con tal que lo hagan dentro de un clan perteneciente a la tribu de su padre.
7 The inheritance of the people of Israel shall not be transferred from one tribe to another; for every one of the people of Israel shall cleave to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.	7 La parte hereditaria de los israelitas no pasará de una tribu a otra, sino que cada israelita deberá retener la herencia de su tribu paterna.
8 And every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the people of Israel shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, so that every one of the people of Israel may possess the inheritance of his fathers.	8 Por lo tanto, toda joven que posea una herencia en alguna tribu de los israelitas, se casará dentro de un clan de su tribu paterna, de manera que los israelitas conserven cada uno la herencia de sus padres.
9 So no inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another; for each of the tribes of the people of Israel shall cleave to its own inheritance.'"	9 Así, ninguna herencia pasará de una tribu a otra, sino que cada una de las tribus de los israelitas retendrá su parte.
10 The daughters of Zelophehad did as the LORD commanded Moses;	10 Las hijas de Selofjad procedieron como el Señor se lo había ordenado a Moisés.
11 for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to sons of their father's brothers.	11 Majlá, Tirsá, Joglá, Milcá y Noá, hijas de Selofjad, se casaron con hijos de sus tíos paternos.
12 They were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.	12 Y como lo hicieron dentro de los clanes de los descendientes de Manasés, la herencia de ellas quedó en la tribu del clan de su padre.
13 These are the commandments and the ordinances which the LORD commanded by Moses to the people of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.	13 Estos son los mandamientos y las leyes que el Señor dio a los israelitas por medio de Moisés, en las estepas de Moab, junto al Jordán, a la altura de Jericó.
