Hosea 5

1 Hear this, O priests! Give heed, O house of Israel! Hearken, O house of the king! For the judgment pertains to you; for you have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.	1 - Udite questo, o sacerdoti; state a sentire, voi della casa di Israele e voi della casa del re, perchè il giudizio è intentato a voi; giacchè siete diventati un laccio a Masfa e una rete tesa sul monte Tabor;
2 And they have made deep the pit of Shittim; but I will chastise all of them.	2 e andate traviando il culto profondamente in basso, mentre io faccio di tutto per correggerli.
3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, O Ephraim, you have played the harlot, Israel is defiled.	3 Io conosco Efraim e Israele non mi è nascosto; sì, ormai Efraim si è prostituito, Israele s'è contaminato;
4 Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. For the spirit of harlotry is within them, and they know not the LORD.	4 non si daranno più pensiero di tornare al loro Dio, perchè lo spirito della fornicazione è in mezzo a loro e non hanno più riconosciuto il Signore.
5 The pride of Israel testifies to his face; Ephraim shall stumble in his guilt; Judah also shall stumble with them.	5 Ne risponde ad attestarlo l'arroganza stessa di Israele che è sulla sua faccia; Israele ed Efraim cadranno per la loro colpa e con essi cadrà anche Giuda.
6 With their flocks and herds they shall go to seek the LORD, but they will not find him; he has withdrawn from them.	6 Con i loro greggi e coi loro armenti se ne andranno a cercare il Signore e non lo troveranno. Egli si è ritirato da loro.
7 They have dealt faithlessly with the LORD; for they have borne alien children. Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.	7 Sono diventati infedeli al Signore, perchè hanno procreato figli degenerati; ora, un mese li consumerà colle sostanze loro.
8 Blow the horn in Gibe-ah, the trumpet in Ramah. Sound the alarm at Beth-aven; tremble, O Benjamin!	8 Sonate la squilla in Gabaa e la tromba in Rama; urlate in Betaven, dietro alle tue spalle, o Beniamino!
9 Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of punishment; among the tribes of Israel I declare what is sure.	9 Efraim sarà ridotto in desolazione nel giorno del castigo: l'ho dichiarato alle tribù d'Israele per cosa certa.
10 The princes of Judah have become like those who remove the landmark; upon them I will pour out my wrath like water.	10 I principi di Giuda sono come coloro che spostano i confini: su di loro riverserò come acqua la mia collera.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was determined to go after vanity.	11 Efraim è oppresso e affranto meritamente, perchè si studia di andar dietro alle lordure.
12 Therefore I am like a moth to Ephraim, and like dry rot to the house of Judah.	12 Ma io sarò come tignuola ad Efraim e come una cancrena alla casa di Giuda.
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to the great king. But he is not able to cure you or heal your wound.	13 Ed Efraim ha visto la sua infermità e Giuda la propria fasciatura; ed Efraim andò ad Assur, fece ricorso al re vindice; ma egli non potrà metter rimedio, nè levar via la fasciatura a voi;
14 For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will rend and go away, I will carry off, and none shall rescue.	14 perchè io sarò come una leonessa per Efraim e come un leoncello per la casa di Giuda; io lo abbrancherò e me ne andrò, leverò la preda e non sarà chi me la ritolga.
15 I will return again to my place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face, and in their distress they seek me, saying,	15 Andrò, ritornerò al mio luogo, fin tanto che vi sentiate mancare e ricerchiate la mia faccia!
