Hosea 11

1 When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.	1 Sì come passò la mattina, così passò lo re d' Israel. Però che Israel fu fanciullo, e io lo amai; e chiamai lo mio figliuolo d' Egitto.
2 The more I called them, the more they went from me; they kept sacrificing to the Baals, and burning incense to idols.	2 E chiamarono loro; così loro si partirono dalla loro faccia; sacrificavano a Baalim (cioè a quello idolo) e alli altri iddii.
3 Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, I took them up in my arms; but they did not know that I healed them.	3 E io, come bailo di Efraim, li portava nelle mie braccia; e non seppono ch' io li curassi.
4 I led them with cords of compassion, with the bands of love, and I became to them as one, who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them.	4 Io li tirerò colli funicelli di Adamo, e collo legame di caritade; e sarò loro come uno allegro giogo sopra le loro mascelle; e inchina'mi a lui, acciò ch' egli mangiasse,
5 They shall return to the land of Egypt, and Assyria shall be their king, because they have refused to return to me.	5 e non ritornasse nella terra d' Egitto: è Assur lo suo re, per che non vollono ritornare.
6 The sword shall rage against their cities, consume the bars of their gates, and devour them in their fortresses.	6 E incominciò lo coltello nelle sue cittadi, e consumerà li suoi eletti, e mangerà li suoi capi.
7 My people are bent on turning away from me; so they are appointed to the yoke, and none shall remove it.	7 E lo mio popolo prenderà alla mia rendita; e sarà posto a loro lo giogo insieme, lo quale non sarà tolto via.
8 How can I give you up, O Ephraim! How can I hand you over, O Israel! How can I make you like Admah! How can I treat you like Zeboiim! My heart recoils within me, my compassion grows warm and tender.	8 Come darò io te, Efraim? (e combatterò) e come difenderò io te, Israel? Or come porrò io te come Adama e come Seboim? Lo mio cuore è rivolto in me, e la mia penitenza sì è turbata (in me).
9 I will not execute my fierce anger, I will not again destroy Ephraim; for I am God and not man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come to destroy.	9 Io non farò lo furore della mia ira, e non mi convertirò per dispergere Efraim; però ch' io sono Iddio, e non uomo; io sono santo nel mezzo di te, e non entrerò nella cittade.
10 They shall go after the LORD, he will roar like a lion; yea, he will roar, and his sons shall come trembling from the west;	10 E loro anderanno dopo lo Signore, e ruggirà come lo leone; però ch' elli ruggirà, e temeranno li figliuoli dello mare.
11 they shall come trembling like birds from Egypt, and like doves from the land of Assyria; and I will return them to their homes, says the LORD.	11 E voleranno (a me) come uccelli d' Egitto, e come colomba della terra di quelli di Siria; e allogherolli nelle loro case, dice lo Signore Iddio.
12 Ephraim has encompassed me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah is still known by God, and is faithful to the Holy One.	12 Efraim attorniò me nelle mercatanzie, e Israel nello inganno; e Giuda testimonio discese con Dio, e con li santi fedele.
