Jeremiah 24

1 After Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had taken into exile from Jerusalem Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, together with the princes of Judah, the craftsmen, and the smiths, and had brought them to Babylon, the LORD showed me this vision: Behold, two baskets of figs placed before the temple of the LORD.	1 Il Signore mi diede una visione, e vidi due panieri pieni di fichi posati davanti al tempio del Signore, dopo che Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia avea menato da Gerusalemme a Babilonia Jeconia figliuolo di Joachim, re di Giuda, e i suoi principi, e i fabbri, e i gioiellieri.
2 One basket had very good figs, like first-ripe figs, but the other basket had very bad figs, so bad that they could not be eaten.	2 In uno de' panieri erano ottimi fichi, come soglion essere i primaticci: e nell'altro paniere erano fichi pessimi da non potersi mangiare per esser guasti.
3 And the LORD said to me, "What do you see, Jeremiah?" I said, "Figs, the good figs very good, and the bad figs very bad, so bad that they cannot be eaten."	3 E il Signore mi disse: Che è quello, che tu vedi, o Geremia? E io dissi; Fichi, fichi buoni, e molto buoni: e fichi cattivi, e molto cattivi da non potersi mangiare, perchè sono cattivi.
4 Then the word of the LORD came to me:	4 E il Signore parlommi, dicendo:
5 "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Like these good figs, so I will regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I have sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.	5 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio di Israele: Siccome questi fichi son buoni; così io farò del bene agli esuli di Giuda, che sono stati da me cacciati alla terra de' Caldei.
6 I will set my eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up, and not tear them down; I will plant them, and not uproot them.	6 E volgerò ad essi placato il mio sguardo, e li ricondurrò in questa terra, e, lungi dallo sterminarli, darò loro ferma abitazione, e li pianterò, e non gli sradicherò.
7 I will give them a heart to know that I am the LORD; and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart.	7 E darò loro un cuore, affinchè conoscano, ch'io sono il Signore, ed ei saranno mio popolo, ed io sarò loro Dio, perchè ritorneranno a me con tutto il lor cuore.
8 "But thus says the LORD: Like the bad figs which are so bad they cannot be eaten, so will I treat Zedekiah the king of Judah, his princes, the remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt.	8 E come gli altri fichi son pessimi, e da non potersi mangiare, percnè sono guasti, così io (dice il Signore) tratterò Sedecia re di Giuda, e i suoi principi, e tutti gli altri, che son rimasi in questa città di Gerusalemme, e che abitano nella terra d'Egitto.
9 I will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a reproach, a byword, a taunt, and a curse in all the places where I shall drive them.	9 E farò, che siano vessati, ed afflitti per tutti i regni della terra; e saranno l'obbrobrio, la favola, l'esempio, e l'orrore di tutti i luoghi, dov' io gli avrò cacciati.
10 And I will send sword, famine, and pestilence upon them, until they shall be utterly destroyed from the land which I gave to them and their fathers."	10 E manderò contro di essi la spada, la fame, e la peste, fino a tanto che siano sterminati dalla terra, ch'io diedi ad essi, e a' padri loro.
