Leviticus 26

1 "You shall make for yourselves no idols and erect no graven image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land, to bow down to them; for I am the LORD your God.	1 - Io il Signore Dio vostro. Non vi farete idolo nè scultura; non erigerete pilastri, nè porrete nella vostra terra segnali cospicui per adorarli. Son io infatti il Signore Dio vostro.
2 You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.	2 Osservate i miei sabati, ed accostatevi con timore al mio santuario. Io il Signore.
3 "If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them,	3 Se camminerete secondo i miei precetti, se osserverete i miei comandamenti e li eseguirete, io vi darò le piogge ai loro tempi,
4 then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.	4 la terra darà i suoi prodotti, e gli alberi saranno pieni di frutti;
5 And your threshing shall last to the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last to the time for sowing; and you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land securely.	5 la battitura delle mèssi durerà sino alla vendemmia, e la vendemmia sino alla sementa; mangerete del vostro pane a sazietà, e senza paura abiterete nella vostra terra.
6 And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; and I will remove evil beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land.	6 Farò esser pace ne' vostri possessi; dormirete, nè vi sarà chi vi metta spavento. Vi libererò dalle bestie feroci, e la guerra non entrerà nei vostri confini.
7 And you shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.	7 Inseguirete i vostri nemici, e cadranno innanzi a voi;
8 Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.	8 cinque de' vostri metteranno in fuga cento di fuori, e cento di voi diecimila di loro; i vostri nemici periranno di spada dinanzi a voi.
9 And I will have regard for you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and will confirm my covenant with you.	9 Guarderò a voi, e vi farò crescere; vi moltiplicherete, ed io raffermerò con voi il mio patto.
10 And you shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old to make way for the new.	10 Mangerete del vecchio e del vecchissimo, ed al sopravvenire del nuovo butterete via il vecchio.
11 And I will make my abode among you, and my soul shall not abhor you.	11 Porrò in mezzo a voi la mia dimora, e l'anima mia non si rifletterà.
12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people.	12 Camminerò in mezzo a voi; io sarò il vostro Dio, e voi il mio popolo.
13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; and I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.	13 Io il Signore Dio vostro, che vi condussi via dalla terra degli Egiziani affinchè non foste più loro schiavi e che spezzai le catene dal vostro collo, acciò camminaste a testa alta.
14 "But if you will not hearken to me, and will not do all these commandments,	14 Ma se non mi ascolterete, se non farete tutto quello ch'io v'ho comandato,
15 if you spurn my statutes, and if your soul abhors my ordinances, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant,	15 se disprezzerete le mie leggi, e non terrete conto dei miei ordini, non facendo quello che io ho stabilito, e rendendo inutile il mio patto con voi,
16 I will do this to you: I will appoint over you sudden terror, consumption, and fever that waste the eyes and cause life to pine away. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it;	16 io allora farò con voi così: Vi visiterò prontamente con l'angustia e con un fuoco che v'abbruci gli occhi, e vi consumi la vita. Invano seminerete, perchè la vostra semente sarà divorata dagli avversari.
17 I will set my face against you, and you shall be smitten before your enemies; those who hate you shall rule over you, and you shall flee when none pursues you.	17 Vi guarderò sdegnato; cadrete davanti ai vostri nemici, e sarete soggiogati da quelli che vi odiano; vi darete alla fuga senza che nessuno v'insegua.
18 And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, then I will chastise you again sevenfold for your sins,	18 Se poi anche allora non m'obbedirete, crescerò sette volte i castighi dei vostri peccati,
19 and I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like brass;	19 e spezzerò la durezza della vostra superbia. Farò che il cielo sopra voi sia come di ferro, e la terra come di bronzo;
20 and your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.	20 le vostre fatiche saranno gettate invano; la terra non germoglierà e gli alberi non daranno frutto.
21 "Then if you walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring more plagues upon you, sevenfold as many as your sins.	21 Se vi metterete in contrasto con me, e non mi vorrete ascoltare, aumenterò del settuplo le vostre piaghe pei vostri peccati;
22 And I will let loose the wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number, so that your ways shall become desolate.	22 manderò contro di voi le fiere della campagna che divoreranno voi ed il vostro bestiame, vi ridurranno tutti a piccol numero e renderanno deserte le vostre strade.
23 "And if by this discipline you are not turned to me, but walk contrary to me,	23 Che se neanche allora vorrete ricevere la correzione, ma vi moverete contro di me,
24 then I also will walk contrary to you, and I myself will smite you sevenfold for your sins.	24 anch'io mi moverò contro di voi, e vi percoterò sette volte più pei vostri peccati.
25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant; and if you gather within your cities I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.	25 Farò venire su voi la spada a vendicare il mio patto; se vi rifugerete nelle città, manderò in mezzo a voi la pestilenza; e vi darete nelle mani dei vostri nemici,
26 When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and shall deliver your bread again by weight; and you shall eat, and not be satisfied.	26 dopo che io avrò spezzato il sostegno del vostro pane, di maniera che dieci donne potranno cuocere il pane in un solo forno, e lo distribuiranno a peso; mangerete, e non vi sazierete.
27 "And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, but walk contrary to me,	27 Se poi nemmeno con questo mi ascolterete, ma procederete contro di me,
28 then I will walk contrary to you in fury, and chastise you myself sevenfold for your sins.	28 ed io procederò contro di voi con altrettanto furore, e vi castigherò con sette piaghe pei peccati,
29 You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.	29 in guisa che mangerete le carni de' vostri figliuoli e delle vostre figliuole.
30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols; and my soul will abhor you.	30 Sconvolgerò le vostre colline, e ne spezzerò i simulacri. Cadrete fra i rottami de' vostri idoli, e la mia anima v'avrà in abominio,
31 And I will lay your cities waste, and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your pleasing odors.	31 così che ridurrò in solitudine le vostre città, farò deserti i vostri santuari, nè più vi riceverò l'odore graditissimo [dei vostri sacrifizi].
32 And I will devastate the land, so that your enemies who settle in it shall be astonished at it.	32 Desolerò la vostra terra, e ne stupiranno i vostri nemici, quando saranno essi divenuti suoi abitanti.
33 And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword after you; and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.	33 Voi poi vi disperderò fra le genti, e sguainerò dietro a voi la spada; la vostra terra sarà deserta, e le vostre città diroccate.
34 "Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies' land; then the land shall rest, and enjoy its sabbaths.	34 Allora la terra si godrà i suoi sabati in tutto il tempo nel quale sarà deserta, e voi sarete
35 As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, the rest which it had not in your sabbaths when you dwelt upon it.	35 in terra nemica; farà i sabati, e si riposerà nei sabati della sua solitudine, perchè non si riposò nei sabati vostri quando l'abitavate voi.
36 And as for those of you that are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a driven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues.	36 Ed a quelli di voi che rimarranno, metterò in cuore lo spavento nelle terre de' loro nemici; il rumore d'una foglia volante li atterrirà e la fuggiranno come se fosse una spada. Cadranno, senza che alcuno li insegua,
37 They shall stumble over one another, as if to escape a sword, though none pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.	37 cadranno gli uni sugli altri i fratelli, come se fuggissero in battaglia; nessuno di voi oserà resistere ai nemici.
38 And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.	38 Perirete fra le nazioni, ed una terra nemica vi consumerà.
39 And those of you that are left shall pine away in your enemies' lands because of their iniquity; and also because of the iniquities of their fathers they shall pine away like them.	39 Che se alcuni di quelli sopravviveranno, si stringeranno per le proprie iniquità nella terra dei loro nemici, e saranno flagellati pei peccati dei loro padri e propri,
40 "But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery which they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me,	40 sinchè confessino le iniquità proprie e de' loro maggiori, con le quali mi si rivoltarono, e mossero contro di me.
41 so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity;	41 Moverò dunque anch'io contro di loro, e li ridurrò in terra nemica, sinchè si penta l'incirconciso lor cuore; allora pregheranno pei propri peccati.
42 then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.	42 Ed io mi ricorderò del mio patto, da me concluso con Giacobbe, Isacco ed Abramo; mi ricorderò anche di quella terra,
43 But the land shall be left by them, and enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they spurned my ordinances, and their soul abhorred my statutes.	43 la quale, abbandonata da loro, si sarà goduta i suoi sabati, ridotta in solitudine a causa di loro. Essi allora chiederanno perdono de' loro misfatti, dell'aver rigettati i miei comandamenti e diprezzate le mie leggi.
44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God;	44 Eppure, anche quand'erano in terra nemica, non li rigettai del tutto nè così li disprezzai da annientarli, e render vano il patto mio con loro. Perchè io sono il Signore Dio loro,
45 but I will for their sake remember the covenant with their forefathers, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD."	45 e mi ricorderò del patto mio antico, di quando in faccia alle nazioni li cavai dalla terra d'Egitto, per esser il loro Dio. Io il Signore -». Questi son gli ordini, i comandamenti e le leggi che il Signore sul monte Sinai stabilì fra sè ed i figli d'Israele, per mezzo di Mosè.
46 These are the statutes and ordinances and laws which the LORD made between him and the people of Israel on Mount Sinai by Moses.
