Leviticus 19

1 And the LORD said to Moses,	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
2 "Say to all the congregation of the people of Israel, You shall be holy; for I the LORD your God am holy.	2 Parle à toute la communauté des Israélites. Tu leur diras: Soyez saints, car moi, Yahvé votreDieu, je suis saint.
3 Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.	3 Chacun de vous craindra sa mère et son père. Et vous garderez mes sabbats. Je suis Yahvé votreDieu.
4 Do not turn to idols or make for yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.	4 Ne vous tournez pas vers les idoles et ne vous faites pas fondre des dieux de métal. Je suis Yahvévotre Dieu.
5 "When you offer a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, you shall offer it so that you may be accepted.	5 Si vous faites pour Yahvé un sacrifice de communion, offrez-le de manière à être agréés.
6 It shall be eaten the same day you offer it, or on the morrow; and anything left over until the third day shall be burned with fire.	6 On en mangera le jour du sacrifice ou le lendemain; ce qui en restera le surlendemain sera brûléau feu.
7 If it is eaten at all on the third day, it is an abomination; it will not be accepted,	7 Si on en mangeait le surlendemain ce serait un mets avarié qui ne serait point agréé.
8 and every one who eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned a holy thing of the LORD; and that person shall be cut off from his people.	8 Celui qui en mangera portera le poids de sa faute, car il aura profané la sainteté de Yahvé: cetêtre sera retranché des siens.
9 "When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field to its very border, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest.	9 Lorsque vous récolterez la moisson de votre pays, vous ne moissonnerez pas jusqu'à l'extrêmebout du champ. Tu ne glaneras pas ta moisson,
10 And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the LORD your God.	10 tu ne grappilleras pas ta vigne et tu ne ramasseras pas les fruits tombés dans ton verger. Tu lesabandonneras au pauvre et à l'étranger. Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu;
11 "You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.	11 Nul d'entre vous ne commettra vol, dissimulation ou fraude envers son compatriote.
12 And you shall not swear by my name falsely, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.	12 Vous ne commettrez point de fraude en jurant par mon nom; tu profanerais le nom de ton Dieu.Je suis Yahvé.
13 "You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.	13 Tu n'exploiteras pas ton prochain et ne le spolieras pas: le salaire de l'ouvrier ne demeurera pasavec toi jusqu'au lendemain matin.
14 You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God: I am the LORD.	14 Tu ne maudiras pas un muet et tu ne mettras pas d'obstacle devant un aveugle, mais tu craindraston Dieu. Je suis Yahvé.
15 "You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.	15 Vous ne commettrez point d'injustice en jugeant. Tu ne feras pas acception de personnes avec lepauvre ni ne te laisseras éblouir par le grand: c'est selon la justice que tu jugeras ton compatriote.
16 You shall not go up and down as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand forth against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD.	16 Tu n'iras pas diffamer les tiens et tu ne mettras pas en cause le sang de ton prochain. Je suisYahvé.
17 "You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason with your neighbor, lest you bear sin because of him.	17 Tu n'auras pas dans ton coeur de haine pour ton frère. Tu dois réprimander ton compatriote etainsi tu n'auras pas la charge d'un péché.
18 You shall not take vengeance or bear any grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.	18 Tu ne te vengeras pas et tu ne garderas pas de rancune envers les enfants de ton peuple. Tuaimeras ton prochain comme toi-même. Je suis Yahvé.
19 "You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; nor shall there come upon you a garment of cloth made of two kinds of stuff.	19 Vous garderez mes lois. Tu n'accoupleras pas dans ton bétail deux bêtes d'espèce différente, tune sèmeras pas dans ton champ deux espèces différentes de graine, tu ne porteras pas sur toi un vêtement endeux espèces de tissu.
20 "If a man lies carnally with a woman who is a slave, betrothed to another man and not yet ransomed or given her freedom, an inquiry shall be held. They shall not be put to death, because she was not free;	20 Si un homme couche maritalement avec une femme, si celle-ci est la servante concubine d'unhomme auquel elle n'a pas été rachetée et qui ne lui a pas donné sa liberté, le premier sera passible d'un droitmais ils ne mourront pas, car elle n'était pas libre.
21 but he shall bring a guilt offering for himself to the LORD, to the door of the tent of meeting, a ram for a guilt offering.	21 Il apportera pour Yahvé un sacrifice de réparation à l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous. Cesera un bélier de réparation.
22 And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering before the LORD for his sin which he has committed; and the sin which he has committed shall be forgiven him.	22 Avec ce bélier de réparation le prêtre fera sur l'homme le rite d'expiation devant Yahvé pour lepéché commis; et le péché qu'il a commis lui sera pardonné.
23 "When you come into the land and plant all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as forbidden; three years it shall be forbidden to you, it must not be eaten.	23 Lorsque vous serez entrés en ce pays et que vous aurez planté quelque arbre fruitier, vousconsidérerez ses fruits comme si c'était son prépuce. Pendant trois ans ils seront pour vous une choseincirconcise, on n'en mangera pas.
24 And in the fourth year all their fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.	24 La quatrième année tous les fruits en seront consacrés dans une fête de louange à Yahvé.
25 But in the fifth year you may eat of their fruit, that they may yield more richly for you: I am the LORD your God.	25 C'est la cinquième année que vous en pourrez manger les fruits et récolter pour vous-mêmes lesproduits. Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.
26 "You shall not eat any flesh with the blood in it. You shall not practice augury or witchcraft.	26 Vous ne mangerez rien avec du sang; vous ne pratiquerez ni divination ni incantation.
27 You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard.	27 Vous n'arrondirez pas le bord de votre chevelure et tu ne couperas pas le bord de ta barbe.
28 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.	28 Vous ne vous ferez pas d'incisions dans le corps pour un mort et vous ne vous ferez pas detatouage. Je suis Yahvé.
29 "Do not profane your daughter by making her a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry and the land become full of wickedness.	29 Ne profane pas ta fille en la prostituant; ainsi le pays ne sera pas prostitué et rendu tout entierincestueux.
30 You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.	30 Vous garderez mes sabbats et révérerez mon sanctuaire. Je suis Yahvé.
31 "Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.	31 Ne vous tournez pas vers les spectres et ne recherchez pas les devins, ils vous souilleraient. Jesuis Yahvé votre Dieu.
32 "You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the LORD.	32 Tu te lèveras devant une tête chenue, tu honoreras la personne du vieillard et tu craindras tonDieu. Je suis Yahvé.
33 "When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong.	33 Si un étranger réside avec vous dans votre pays, vous ne le molesterez pas.
34 The stranger who sojourns with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.	34 L'étranger qui réside avec vous sera pour vous comme un compatriote et tu l'aimeras commetoi-même, car vous avez été étrangers au pays d'Egypte. Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.
35 "You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measures of length or weight or quantity.	35 Vous ne commettrez point d'injustice en jugeant, qu'il s'agisse de mesures de longueur, de poidsou de capacité.
36 You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.	36 Vous aurez des balances justes, des poids justes, une mesure juste, un setier juste. Je suis Yahvévotre Dieu qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d'Egypte.
37 And you shall observe all my statutes and all my ordinances, and do them: I am the LORD."	37 Gardez toutes mes lois et toutes mes coutumes, mettez-les en pratique. Je suis Yahvé.
