1 The oracle concerning Tyre. Wail, O ships of Tarshish, for Tyre is laid waste, without house or haven! From the land of Cyprus it is revealed to them.	1 Oracolo su Tiro. Fate cordoglio, navi di Tarsis, perché è stato distrutto il vostro rifugio! Mentre tornavano dal paese dei Chittim ne fu data loro notizia.
2 Be still, O inhabitants of the coast, O merchants of Sidon; your messengers passed over the sea	2 Stupite, abitanti dell’isola! I mercanti di Sidone, attraversando il mare, ti affollavano finora.
3 and were on many waters; your revenue was the grain of Shihor, the harvest of the Nile; you were the merchant of the nations.	3 Attraverso le acque abbondanti la semente del Nilo, il raccolto del fiume era la sua ricchezza; essa era il mercato dei popoli.
4 Be ashamed, O Sidon, for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying: "I have neither travailed nor given birth, I have neither reared young men nor brought up virgins."	4 Vergognati, Sidone, perché il mare dice: «lo non fui in doglie, non ho generato, né ho allevato giovani o cresciuto vergini».
5 When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish over the report about Tyre.	5 Appena si saprà in Egitto, saranno addolorati per la notizia su Tiro.
6 Pass over to Tarshish, wail, O inhabitants of the coast!	6 Passate in Tarsis, fate cordoglio, abitanti della costa.
7 Is this your exultant city whose origin is from days of old, whose feet carried her to settle afar?	7 È questa la vostra città gaudente, le cui origini risalgono a un’antichità remota, i cui piedi la portavano lontano perché vi fissasse dimore?
8 Who has purposed this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants were princes, whose traders were the honored of the earth?	8 Chi ha decretato ciò contro Tiro l’incoronata, i cui mercanti erano capi, i cui negozianti erano i più stimati sulla terra?
9 The LORD of hosts has purposed it, to defile the pride of all glory, to dishonor all the honored of the earth.	9 È stato Jahvè degli eserciti a decretarlo, per umiliare l’orgoglio di tutto il suo splendore, per umiliare i più stimati sulla terra.
10 Overflow your land like the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish; there is no restraint any more.	10 Coltiva la tua terra, o figlia di Tarsis; il porto non esiste più.
11 He has stretched out his hand over the sea, he has shaken the kingdoms; the LORD has given command concerning Canaan to destroy its strongholds.	11 Ha steso la mano verso il mare, ha fatto tremare i regni; Jahvè ha decretato su Canaan di abbattere le sue fortezze.
12 And he said: "You will no more exult, O oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon; arise, pass over to Cyprus, even there you will have no rest."	12 Egli ha detto: «Non dovrai più gioire, o vergine disonorata, figlia di Sidone. Alzati, va’ pure dai Chittim; perché laggiù non ci sarà pace per te».
13 Behold the land of the Chaldeans! This is the people; it was not Assyria. They destined Tyre for wild beasts. They erected their siegetowers, they razed her palaces, they made her a ruin.	13 Ecco, il paese dei Caldei, (questo popolo non esisteva, l’Assiria lo fondò per le bestie selvatiche; essi innalzarono le loro torri, abbatterono i suoi palazzi) lo ha reso un cumulo di rovine.
14 Wail, O ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste.	14 Fate cordoglio, navi di Tarsis, perché è stato distrutto il vostro rifugio.
15 In that day Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, like the days of one king. At the end of seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot:	15 E avverrà in quel giorno che Tiro sarà dimenticata per settant’anni, quanti sono i giorni di un re. Alla fine dei settant’anni a Tiro si applicherà la canzone della prostituta:
16 "Take a harp, go about the city, O forgotten harlot! Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that you may be remembered."	16 «Prendi la cetra, attraversa la città, prostituta dimenticata; suona con abilità, rinnova il canto, affinché qualcuno si ricordi di te».
17 At the end of seventy years, the LORD will visit Tyre, and she will return to her hire, and will play the harlot with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.	17 Alla fine dei settant’anni, Jahvè visiterà Tiro, che ritornerà al suo guadagno; si prostituirà a tutti i regni del mondo sulla faccia della terra.
18 Her merchandise and her hire will be dedicated to the LORD; it will not be stored or hoarded, but her merchandise will supply abundant food and fine clothing for those who dwell before the LORD.	18 Il suo salario e il suo guadagno saranno sacri a Jahvè. Non sarà ammassato né custodito il suo salario, ma andrà a coloro che stanno davanti a Jahvè, perché mangino a sazietà e si coprano con decoro.
