Proverbs 15

1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.	1 Une aimable réponse apaise la fureur, une parole blessante fait monter la colère.
2 The tongue of the wise dispenses knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly.	2 La langue des sages rend le savoir agréable, la bouche des sots éructe la folie.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.	3 En tout lieu sont les yeux de Yahvé, ils observent méchants et bons.
4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.	4 Langue apaisante est un arbre de vie, langue perverse brise le coeur.
5 A fool despises his father's instruction, but he who heeds admonition is prudent.	5 Le fou méprise la correction paternelle, qui observe la réprimande est avisé.
6 In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, but trouble befalls the income of the wicked.	6 Biens abondants dans la maison du juste, mais les revenus du méchant sont source d'inquiétude.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the minds of fools.	7 Les lèvres des sages répandent le savoir, mais non le coeur des sots.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.	8 Le sacrifice des méchants est une abomination pour Yahvé, mais la prière des hommes droitsfait ses délices.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who pursues righteousness.	9 Abomination pour Yahvé: la mauvaise conduite; mais il chérit qui poursuit la justice.
10 There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the way; he who hates reproof will die.	10 Sévère correction pour qui s'écarte du sentier; qui hait la réprimande mourra.
11 Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD, how much more the hearts of men!	11 Shéol et Perdition sont devant Yahvé: combien plus le coeur des enfants des hommes!
12 A scoffer does not like to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.	12 Le railleur n'aime pas qu'on le reprenne, avec les sages il ne va guère.
13 A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.	13 Coeur joyeux fait bon visage, coeur chagrin a l'esprit abattu.
14 The mind of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.	14 Coeur intelligent recherche le savoir, la bouche des sots se repaît de folie.
15 All the days of the afflicted are evil, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.	15 Pour le pauvre tous les jours sont mauvais, pour le coeur joyeux, c'est un banquet perpétuel.
16 Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble with it.	16 Mieux vaut peu avec la crainte de Yahvé qu'un riche trésor avec l'inquiétude.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fatted ox and hatred with it.	17 Mieux vaut une portion de légumes avec l'affection qu'un boeuf gras avec la haine.
18 A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention.	18 L'homme emporté engage la querelle, l'homme lent à la colère apaise la dispute.
19 The way of a sluggard is overgrown with thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway.	19 Le chemin du paresseux est comme une haie d'épines, le sentier des hommes droits est unegrand-route.
20 A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish man despises his mother.	20 Le fils sage réjouit son père, l'homme sot méprise sa mère.
21 Folly is a joy to him who has no sense, but a man of understanding walks aright.	21 La folie fait la joie de l'homme privé de sens, l'homme intelligent va droit son chemin.
22 Without counsel plans go wrong, but with many advisers they succeed.	22 Faute de réflexion les projets échouent, grâce à de nombreux conseillers, ils prennent corps.
23 To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!	23 Joie pour l'homme qu'une réplique de sa bouche, que c'est bon, une réponse opportune!
24 The wise man's path leads upward to life, that he may avoid Sheol beneath.	24 A l'homme de bon sens, le sentier de la vie, qui mène en haut, afin d'éviter le shéol, en bas.
25 The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but maintains the widow's boundaries.	25 Yahvé renverse la maison des superbes, mais il relève la borne de la veuve.
26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD, the words of the pure are pleasing to him.	26 Abomination pour Yahvé: les mauvais desseins; mais les paroles bienveillantes sont pures.
27 He who is greedy for unjust gain makes trouble for his household, but he who hates bribes will live.	27 Qui est avide de rapines trouble sa maison, qui hait les présents vivra.
28 The mind of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.	28 Le coeur du juste médite pour répondre, la bouche des méchants éructe la méchanceté.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.	29 Yahvé s'éloigne des méchants, mais il entend la prière des justes.
30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.	30 Un regard bienveillant réjouit le coeur, une bonne nouvelle ranime les forces.
31 He whose ear heeds wholesome admonition will abide among the wise.	31 L'oreille attentive à la réprimande salutaire a sa demeure parmi les sages.
32 He who ignores instruction despises himself, but he who heeds admonition gains understanding.	32 Qui rejette la correction se méprise lui-même, qui écoute la réprimande acquiert du sens.
33 The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor.	33 La crainte de Yahvé est discipline de sagesse, avant la gloire, il y a l'humilité.
