1 Then Moses answered, "But behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, 'The LORD did not appear to you.'"	1 Moïse répondit: Ils ne me croiront pas, et ils n'écouteront point ma voix; mais ils diront: Le Seigneur ne vous a point apparu.
2 The LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" He said, "A rod."	2 Dieu lui dit donc: Que tenez-vous en votre main? Il répondit: Une verge.
3 And he said, "Cast it on the ground." So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.	3 Le Seigneur ajouta: Jetez-la à terre. Moïse la jeta, et elle fut changée en serpent, de sorte que Moïse s'enfuit.
4 But the LORD said to Moses, "Put out your hand, and take it by the tail"-- so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand--	4 Le Seigneur lui dit encore: Etendez votre main, et prenez ce serpent par la queue. Il étendit la main et le prit, et aussitôt la verge changée en serpent redevint verge.
5 "that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you."	5 Le Seigneur ajouta: J'ai fait ceci afin qu'ils croient que le Seigneur, le Dieu de leurs pères,vous est apparu, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac et le Dieu de Jacob.
6 Again, the LORD said to him, "Put your hand into your bosom." And he put his hand into his bosom; and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.	6 Le Seigneur lui dit encore: Mettez votre main dans votre sein. Et l'ayant mise dans son sein, il l'en retira pleine d'une lèpre blanche comme le neige.
7 Then God said, "Put your hand back into your bosom." So he put his hand back into his bosom; and when he took it out, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh.	7 Remettez, dit le Seigneur, votre main dans votre sein. Il la remit, et l'en retira toute semblable au reste de son corps.
8 "If they will not believe you," God said, "or heed the first sign, they may believe the latter sign.	8 S'ils ne vous croient pas, dit le Seigneur, et s'ils n'écoutent pas la voix du premier miracle, ils écouteront celle du second.
9 If they will not believe even these two signs or heed your voice, you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it upon the dry ground; and the water which you shall take from the Nile will become blood upon the dry ground."	9 Que s'ils ne croient point encore à ces deux miracles et qu'ils n'écoutent point votre voix, prennez de l'eau du fleuve, répandez-la sur la terre, et tout ce que vous en aurez puisé sera changé en sang.
10 But Moses said to the LORD, "Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either heretofore or since thou hast spoken to thy servant; but I am slow of speech and of tongue."	10 Moïse dit alors: Ah! Seigneur, je n'ai jamais eu la facilité de parler, et depuis que Vous avez commencé à parler à Votre serviteur, j'ai la langue encore moins libre et plus empêchée.
11 Then the LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?	11 Le Seigneur lui répondit: Qui a fait la bouche de l'homme? Qui a formé le muet et le sourd, celui qui voit et celui qui est aveugle? N'est-ce pas Moi?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak."	12 Allez donc, Je serai dans votre bouche, et Je vous apprendrai ce que vous aurez à dire.
13 But he said, "Oh, my Lord, send, I pray, some other person."	13 Je vous prie, Seigneur, repartit Moïse, envoyez celui que vous devez envoyer.
14 Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses and he said, "Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well; and behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you he will be glad in his heart.	14 Le Seigneur s'irrita contre Moïse et lui dit: Je sais qu'Aaron votre frère, le Lévite, s'exprime aisément; il va venir au-devant de vous, et quand il vous verra, son coeur sera plein de joie.
15 And you shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.	15 Parlez-lui et mettez Mes paroles dans sa bouche. Je serai dans votre bouche et dans la sienne, et Je vous montrerai ce que vous aurez à faire.
16 He shall speak for you to the people; and he shall be a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God.	16 Il parlera pour vous au peuple, et il sera votre bouche, et vous le conduirez dans tout ce qui regarde Dieu.
17 And you shall take in your hand this rod, with which you shall do the signs."	17 Prenez aussi cette verge en votre main, car c'est avec elle que vous ferez des miracles.
18 Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, "Let me go back, I pray, to my kinsmen in Egypt and see whether they are still alive." And Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."	18 Moïse s'en alla donc et retourna chez Jéthro son beau-père, et il lui dit: Je m'en vais retrouver mes frères en Egypte, pour voir s'ils sont encore en vie. Jéthro lui dit: Allez en paix.
19 And the LORD said to Moses in Midian, "Go back to Egypt; for all the men who were seeking your life are dead."	19 Or le Seigneur dit à Moïse lorsqu'il était encore en Madian: Allez, retournez en Egypte, car ceux qui voulaient vous ôter la vie sont tous morts.
20 So Moses took his wife and his sons and set them on an ass, and went back to the land of Egypt; and in his hand Moses took the rod of God.	20 Moïse prit donc sa femme et ses fils, les mit sur un âne et retourna en Egypte, portant à la main la verge de Dieu.
21 And the LORD said to Moses, "When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the miracles which I have put in your power; but I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.	21 Et le Seigneur lui dit lorsqu'il retournait en Egypte: Ne manquez pas de faire devant le Pharaon tous les miracles que Je vous ai donné le pouvoir de faire. J'endurcirai son coeur, et il ne laissera point aller Mon peuple.
22 And you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD, Israel is my first-born son,	22 Vous lui direz donc: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Israël est Mon fils aîné.
23 and I say to you, "Let my son go that he may serve me"; if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your first-born son.'"	23 Je vous ai dit: Laissez aller Mon fils, afin qu'il Me rende le culte qui M'est dû; et vous n'avez point voulu le laisser aller: c'est pourquoi Je tuerai votre fils aîné.
24 At a lodging place on the way the LORD met him and sought to kill him.	24 Moïse étant en chemin, le Seigneur Se présenta à lui dans l'hôtellerie, et Il voulait lui ôter la vie.
25 Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son's foreskin, and touched Moses' feet with it, and said, "Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me!"	25 Séphora prit aussitôt une pierre très aiguë et circoncit la chair de son fils; et touchant les pieds de Moïse, elle dit: Vous m'êtes un époux de sang.
26 So he let him alone. Then it was that she said, "You are a bridegroom of blood," because of the circumcision.	26 Alors le Seigneur laissa Moïse après qu'elle eut dit, à cause de la circoncision: Vous m'êtes un époux de sang.
27 The LORD said to Aaron, "Go into the wilderness to meet Moses." So he went, and met him at the mountain of God and kissed him.	27 Cependant le Seigneur dit à Aaron: Allez au désert au-devant de Moïse. Et Aaron alla au-devant de lui sur la montagne de Dieu, et il le baisa.
28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD with which he had sent him, and all the signs which he had charged him to do.	28 Moïse raconta à Aaron tout ce que le Seigneur lui avait dit en l'envoyant, et les miracles qu'Il lui avait ordonné de faire.
29 Then Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the people of Israel.	29 Et, étant arrivés ensemble, ils firent assembler tous les anciens des enfants d'Israël.
30 And Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.	30 Et Aaron rapporta tout ce que le Seigneur avait dit à Moïse, et fit des miracles devant le peuple.
31 And the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had visited the people of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed their heads and worshiped.	31 Et le peuple crut, et ils comprirent que le Seigneur avait visité les enfants d'Israël et qu'Il avait regardé leur affliction; et, se prosternant, ils L'adorèrent.
