Esther 7

1 So the king and Haman went in to feast with Queen Esther.	1 Al re adunque, e Aman andarono a cena nell'appartamento della regina.
2 And on the second day, as they were drinking wine, the king again said to Esther, "What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to the half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled."	2 E il re anche questa volta le disse, quando fu riscaldato dal vino: Che domandi tu, o Esther, e che vuoi, che si faccia? Quand'anche tu chiedessi la metà del regno mio, la avrai.
3 Then Queen Esther answered, "If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request.	3 Ed ella gli rispose: Se io ho trovato grazia negli occhi tuoi, o re, e se così a te piace, salvami la vita mia, per cui ti prego, e il popol mio, per cui ti chieggo grazia.
4 For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to be annihilated. If we had been sold merely as slaves, men and women, I would have held my peace; for our affliction is not to be compared with the loss to the king."	4 Perocché e io, e il mio popolo siamo stati venduti alla distruzione, alla strage, allo sterminio: e fossimo noi almeno venduti per ischiavi, e per ischiave; tollerabil sarebbe tal male, e io gemerei in silenzio: ma ora abbiam per nimico un uomo, la crudeltà del quale cade sopra del re.
5 Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther, "Who is he, and where is he, that would presume to do this?"	5 E il re Assuero rispose, e disse: Chi è costui, che tanto può, e ardisce di far questo?
6 And Esther said, "A foe and enemy! This wicked Haman!" Then Haman was in terror before the king and the queen.	6 Esther gli disse: Nemico nostro, e persecutore pessimo egli è questo Aman. Ciò udendo quegli rimase stupido, né potea sostenere gli sguardi del re, e della regina.
7 And the king rose from the feast in wrath and went into the palace garden; but Haman stayed to beg his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that evil was determined against him by the king.	7 E il re sdegnato si alzò, e dal luogo del convito passò in un giardino piantato di alberi. Aman parimente si alzò per raccomandare la sua vita alla regina; perocché comprese, che il re meditava la sua rovina.
8 And the king returned from the palace garden to the place where they were drinking wine, as Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was; and the king said, "Will he even assault the queen in my presence, in my own house?" As the words left the mouth of the king, they covered Haman's face.	8 E quegli tornato dal giardino piantato di alberi, in entrando nel luogo del convito trovò Aman disteso sul letto, in cui giaceva Esther, e disse: Vuol egli ancora far violenza alla regina presente me in casa mia? E appena usci di bocca del re questa parola, che subitamente copersero a quello la faccia.
9 Then said Harbona, one of the eunuchs in attendance on the king, "Moreover, the gallows which Haman has prepared for Mordecai, whose word saved the king, is standing in Haman's house, fifty cubits high."	9 E Harbona uno degli eunuchi, che servivano il re, disse: Ecco là in casa di Aman il patibolo, che egli aveva apprestato per Mardocheo, che aveva parlato per salute del re, ed è alto cinquanta cubiti. E il re gli disse: Appiccatelo a quello.
10 And the king said, "Hang him on that." So they hanged Haman on the gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the anger of the king abated.	10 Fu pertanto Aman appeso al patibolo, cheegli aveva preparato a Mardocheo, e l'ira del re si calmò.
