1 On the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king's palace, opposite the king's hall. The king was sitting on his royal throne inside the palace opposite the entrance to the palace;	1 Il terzo giorno, Ester indossò le vesti regali e si presentò nell’atrio interno della reggia, che è di fronte all’appartamento del re. Il re sedeva sul trono regale nell’appartamento del re, di fronte all’ingresso del palazzo.
2 and when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she found favor in his sight and he held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther approached and touched the top of the scepter.	2 Appena il re scorse la regina Ester che stava nell’atrio, fu conquistato dalla sua grazia: il re stese a Ester lo scettro d’oro che teneva in mano. Ester allora si avvicinò e toccò la punta dello scettro.
3 And the king said to her, "What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you, even to the half of my kingdom."	3 Il re le disse: «Che hai, regina Ester? Che cosa desideri? Ti sarà data anche la metà del regno».
4 And Esther said, "If it please the king, let the king and Haman come this day to a dinner that I have prepared for the king."	4 Ester rispose: «Se al re pare bene, venga il re con Aman al banchetto che oggi gli ho preparato».
5 Then said the king, "Bring Haman quickly, that we may do as Esther desires." So the king and Haman came to the dinner that Esther had prepared.	5 Il re rispose: «Avvisate subito Aman per eseguire quanto ha detto Ester». Il re con Aman andò dunque al banchetto che Ester aveva preparato.
6 And as they were drinking wine, the king said to Esther, "What is your petition? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to the half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled."	6 Durante il banchetto il re disse a Ester: «Che cosa domandi? Ti sarà dato! Che cosa desideri? Quand’anche chiedessi la metà del regno, sarà fatto!»
7 But Esther said, "My petition and my request is:	7 Ester rispose: «La mia domanda e il mio desiderio è che,
8 If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition and fulfil my request, let the king and Haman come tomorrow to the dinner which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said."	8 se ho trovato grazia agli occhi del re e se al re pare bene di esaudire la mia domanda e adempiere il mio desiderio, venga il re con Aman al banchetto che io preparerò loro; domani agirò secondo la parola del re».
9 And Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.	9 In quel giorno Aman uscì felice e con il cuore contento; ma si riempì di collera contro Mardocheo quando, alla porta del re, vide che Mardocheo né si alzò né si mosse davanti a lui.
10 Nevertheless Haman restrained himself, and went home; and he sent and fetched his friends and his wife Zeresh.	10 Tuttavia Aman si dominò: andò a casa e mandò a chiamare i suoi amici e Zeresh sua moglie.
11 And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, the number of his sons, all the promotions with which the king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and the servants of the king.	11 Si intrattenne poi a lungo con loro sullo splendore della sua ricchezza, sul gran numero del suoi figli e su tutto quanto il re aveva fatto per lui ponendolo al disopra dei capi e dei ministri del re.
12 And Haman added, "Even Queen Esther let no one come with the king to the banquet she prepared but myself. And tomorrow also I am invited by her together with the king.	12 Disse ancora Aman: «Inoltre, la regina Ester al banchetto che ha preparato ha invitato soltanto me al fianco del re. Anche domani sono invitato da lei al fianco del re!
13 Yet all this does me no good, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate."	13 Ma tutto ciò non mi permette di essere felice finché vedrò Mardocheo il Giudeo sedere alla porta del re».
14 Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, "Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged upon it; then go merrily with the king to the dinner." This counsel pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.	14 Zeresh sua moglie e tutti i suoi amici gli dissero: «Preparate un palo alto cinquanta cubiti; domani mattina tu di’ al re che vi faccia appendere Mardocheo. Va’ poi felice al banchetto insieme con il re». Il consiglio parve buono ad Aman. Fece quindi preparare il palo.
